The rant about the 2nd elimination feeling like they're pulling schemes because they're not confident is exactly why I said last week that Mitra is just saying words. What do you mean you wanted to create drama for a YouTube show that a small group of people are watching? You want to debut a global girl group that will bring you billions of dollars in revenue. Girl. Be real.

Shmatreflon

I also feel like Mitra "letting Lexie go" is so funny because it seems like Lexie told them she wanted to leave the program, and they said no because they wanted her in the group, and she said 'stop me' and just stopped showing up.

RJ is me when I watch any drag race lip sync video. There's just like 6 other ones that I just have to watch every time. Gotta get those brooklyn + yvie, alyssa + tatiana, denali + kahmora, laganja + trinity lip sync out of my system.

Manon and Lara were always making this group. I didn’t remember Manon saying this 1st time I watched the show but a few episodes ago she said Son literally told her to take it easy, they don’t expect to be perfect but to just do her best. Once I heard that I knew FOR SURE she was always making it. I think the Netflix show has also giving us a narrative of what they want us to think was their process…. Being honest they were probs figuring it out as they went along 😅

It was so fun watching the documentary with you guys every week! Excited to see react to more Katseye content in the future! <3

gyukoo

so sad katseye month is over it was way more fun to rewatch the doc with u guys 😭

AB

its sad that you can tell at 2:08:30 from this point on that emily and ezrela knew that they were not going to be picked and they just are waiting on this to end

minghow

i personally didn’t care about the survival show and the group in general when they just debuted. but after this documentary was released, i saw a bunch of tweets about this drama and decided to check them out. i’m in love with these girls now, and i know so many people who had the same experience. so maybe the drama was worth it?..

minghow

but i still think it was brutal and i’m really sorry girls had to go through that.

Auburn

not Adam saying my bias is obvious and I 100% thought he was going to say Lara. That might be my bias showing 😂😂

Auburn

I was really unsure when Katseye was introduced as the new beloved of the month, but now I AM SO GLAD they won. I had so much fun watching their content, learning about them, and discovering their music. This month really delivered on proof of concept for me, haha

marielle

crying at you guys pausing to watch the entire break free lip sync performance

maitê

i'm sorry the random drag race lipsync break is killing me rn

Jonjal

There is a reason why Kandy Ho's nickname is Kandy Who. No one knows who the bitch is. She done vanished from the zytgiest of social media.

gerbie

Jay gives me Mirage from the incredibles for some reason

villyz

yes pls keep katseye in high lore and heavy rotation i love these girls so damn much

nadia

Lara is my bias too, and if i weren't already bi i would be having some Very Important Questions about myself too, lol (i think it's in their k-pop profiles that Lara came up with K for Katseye... she's just so damn cool AND relatable at the same time, it's magic) anyway, i was watching an interview with the editor of the Gabriela MV who said he ran into Manon at some party (in the hollywood hills probably, lmao) and was like "i just spent a few hundred hours looking at this girl's face, it feels weird to say hello". so i look forward to Manon exercising her star quality and having all the fun along the way, bc that girl is going to be SO GOOD at being famous

nadia

lol this! "we decided to let you go" - b!tch pls. she quit their mess of a program, and then just waited for them to get it thru their heads that it was not negotiable.

Crav

The Lexie conversation with the staff is so annoying and funny to me. Like they had a conversation "last week" about how "she wanted to leave" but they're framing it like they're letting her go for skipping practice! Maybe a bit conspiratorial of me, but I feel like Lexie thought she was already given an okay to go, and then when they pulled her in to "let her go" she was just like :) sure okay I guess we're doing this. The frozen smile and polite little answers cracked me up, she was not gonna let them paint her as a problem in any way.

Season 7 of Drag Race... Is That when Kennedy Davenport was the crystalized chicken or something!?

helloadriene

I love these girls and I'm so happy you got to fall in love with them this month too!!

onlyonlysun

zeitgeist spelled as "zytgiest" is killing me 😭

onlyonlysun

i'm starting to get scared by how accurately i can predict adam's bias in a group before i even see him reacting to their content

Jonjal

I didn’t go to school for spelling - Katya

Jamell N

Lexi DeLaCreme ended Mitra

Jamell N

I get why but I will say its CRAZYYYYYY that this show doesnt address why Samara didnt make the group like that person said someone beat her ass for a reason *@?##,#,$,,#*

Wow I honestly thought Lara was gonna be Adam's bais. Hmm interesting. This was cool, I kinda shelved this group when it came out, I was excited for the diversity and the brown girl representation of couse. But wasnt sure about the kpop on a diverse lense as kpop is so unified if that makes sense. Like part of the fun is when you can finally disquishe the members from each other you know, This was a fun discovery. Gnarly is now a fun kareoke song for me lol.

Lindseyyyyy

NEWCRAZYIMNIDA. no but tell me why did I start crying when they read the names of the members like I already knew what was going to happen ive watched the show all the way through twice before this like WHY DID WATCHING IT WITH Y'ALL MAKE ME EMOTIONAL

Jenni Heath

I do not know why I thought it was a good idea to watch this while I was working from home. Having to pause this with tears rolling down my cheeks to answer work calls was torture lol

Jenni Heath

I just finished this. I hate this just as much as I hate the Stray Kids survival show. Just so much unnecessary drama added just to make it more "exciting". I will always hold a grudge against JYP and Mitra.

The thing with Manon (and some of the other girls) is that they literally had to adapt to a double culture shock. Not only did they have to adapt to a the working culture of a new country, but also a new industry. I can't imagine how crazy going from just chilling outside the performing arts industry to being thrown in the deep end would be. Suddenly, you're getting brutal feedback that you've never had to interact with before, are expected to work yourself consantly to the point of literal injury etc. It must of seemed like pure insanity and almost impossible to adapt to.

The Manon situation and backlash is so freaking nuanced and extremely frustrating. First and foremost, we don't know the whole story (which is why I try not to comment on it) because the show is edited and the producers clearly were trying to create certain storylines purely for entertainment's sake. So I don't want to judge any of the girls too harshly for their behavior. They were young, under high stress, and being somewhat manipulated. However, it did seem like Manon got treated a bit unfairly sometimes and was singled out - especially per the edit that was shown. I think seeing the fans gravitating toward her so heavily is what really did them in. Maybe they had some underlying frustration with her already building, but seeing the reality of beauty (a black woman's beauty no less) catapulting someone you're essentially up against must have really struck a nerve. Plus I feel like the producers could have done more to bridge the gap between cultural differences. They said not every rehearsal was mandatory, and Manon clearly thought it was fine to take mental health, physical health, and sick days. If that was not the case, literally just say that and be firm with it. I felt a little iffy about a black girl's place in a global group because, unfortunately, I already knew we would not be getting an unambiguously black girl - especially not a dark skinned one. I mean, look at Angelica, Samara, Naisha, and Manon ... they have more similarities than they don't (even the drawing of a black girl used on the drawing board for outfits was a mixed, light skinned girl with braids). There's a clear beauty standard. Even in this global group, we see most members still fit into what K-pop fans deem fit for an idol. Sophia, Megan, and Yoonchae are lighter skinned women who more closely fit K-pop/East Asian standards. Then we have Daniela who is also super light and is a stand-in for the white girls and Latin beauty standards. Then we have beautiful, beautiful Lara who is absolutely gorgeous, but is, in my opinion, the one most deviating from the beauty standards we usually see for girls like her - brown girls. Even though Manon is mixed, she's clearly just seen as the black girl. No one's seeing her as the white girl representation, and she definitely fits the black beauty standard - especially for western entertainment's sake...and she's palatable for non black audiences. Plus I can't help but look out for dog whistles, like the producers saying Naisha was a bit aggressive... Overall I think Manon missing was an issue that was clearly exacerbated by the producers in the documentary, and then taken and ran with by defensive AND racist fans. Even Lara, the darkest girl in the group, seemed to get more hate than people like Sophia. Even though the hate has died down, I still think people haven't fully let the issue go. Clearly the girls are over it, so I think we should be, too. Plus I'm sure Manon more than shows up nowadays and the other girls have grown to love and appreciate her (and each other).

yumia

I like Katseye the way they are. I really would not replace Yoonchae - like at all - but I think having Nayoung instead would have also been great. (I do think Yoonchae has a bit more grit than Nayoung, though, which I think fits Katseye well.) If I were to make a different group from the trainees it would be (let's call them Dreamscape) Lexie, Marquise, Mei, Ezrela, Samara, and Emily. I think they would be a perfect second group. You have white, Southeast Asian, East Asian, black, South Asian/brown, and Latin American representation - truly global. Many of them speak multiple languages. You have support from Japan, Thailand, and Brazil (dedicated fans). Plus you still have both American and European figures in the group, plus an Australian. They all fit together visually (including height wise). Great dancers (like Emily), great vocalists (like Samara), great visuals (all are beautiful, but I think Lexie & Marquise would be the most pushed and Lexie might be the Manon fanfare wise ?), and all rounders (like Ezrela). Then you have established ships/fandoms like Mei + Marquise and Lexrela. They would appeal heavily to GP and K-pop fans imo, especially teens, but I also think they could appeal to young adults if they chose their releases and style carefully.

Jothemonster

I really enjoyed watching this together !

Without the survival show, I don’t think Manon would have made it because she really needed that strength from the public opinion to keep going and to get her confidence up
