I’ve seen one other translation, I think on gagaoolala, and this one is definitely the best. In general, if it’s on more than one platform and viki is an option I choose viki. Their translations are superior for the lost part. I even watched Pitbabe Season 1 on viki and it is a night and day difference than on iqiyi

I' ve seen this show so many times but after reading the novel it hits different. In the novel Hira is next level depressed and his thoughts get REALLY dark so watching the show knowing that is so interesting. Also I only noticed while watching along with you guys but so far Kiyoi is the one of the only ones that hasn't referrred to Hira as 'stutz' which I never realized before.

About the translation, うざい (uzai) does mean annoying, but they are translating another word wrong. The word they're translating as weird/creepy is キモい (kimoi) which actually means gross/disgusting. I guess weird/creepy isn't too different from disgusting, but I think the distinction is important in Hira and Kiyoi's relationship. Also, I'm super excited that you're watching this and SO happy that it's a recap show. There is a lot to discuss and season 1 is probably the only show I've watched where the final episode didn't just stuck the landing, but actually elevated everything that came before it.

Individual Circumstances did indeed have a water fight with a hose just like this. I think Cherry Blossoms After Winter had a scene with water fountain spraying, which may have also happened in Mr Heart but i'm not sure.

Not sure who you talked to but there were plenty of adults that didn't like the storyline. It's an extremely polarizing show. I have actually had to not watch some reactors because they didn't enjoy it which is their right. I wasn't sure if they would like it or not but just based on these first two eps it's clear to me they get the dynamic and I can't wait to see their journey.

If you're preaching at someone or trying to correct someone, you might be called "urusai" -- i.e., I don't want to listen to you. In context, I can't think of anything better than "you're annoying". but something like "you bug the hell out of me" would have worked just as well.

I've never seen this and I have to say this tension is excellent. My compliments to the chef. It's also visually stunning! I have no idea where it's going, but I live! I'm excited to get the full picture and learn why it's so beloved bc right now, I get it! The only critique I have is I hate Kiyoi's haircut so much 😂 and I have to suspend my disbelief and gaslight myself that it's good, so I can be on the same page as Hira. I also googled Kiyoi's actor to see him with good hair.

I’m a speech therapist so I can’t help commenting about the stuttering. In the first ep., at the park, Kiyoi says “just take your time- I’ll wait.” That was so touching to me as a therapist because that’s generally all kids who stutter actually want. You usually can’t “cure” a stutter (if the person reduces stuttering, they still worry about stuttering, so is that cured?) and I believe you really don’t need to. Other people just need to be patient and understanding. There’s a new movement in my field called “stuttering as verbal diversity,” essentially meaning stuttering is not a bad way of talking, similar to how autism is a neurodivergence. Sorry for the long post. One final note: oftentimes kids stutter for only a few years, so the doctor who said he’d probably grow out of it was right. It’s a minority that stutter past adolescence.
