The Boys' Day cover was really.... something... I like that they didn't overly make fun of drag like some other boy group covers of that era. Those four groups (Nu'est, BTOB, VIXX, A-JAX) are all 2012 debuts! (the other notable 2012 debut that didn't do this was Exo, now imagine how that would have gone...) Ren (from Nu'est) really is her, just absolutely gorgeous. That OG Pledis pretty boy line with Ren and Jeonghan was such an amazing time, I miss it!

Also sorry for spamming comments but personally I would love a low lore catch up day! Would give some time to watch some different kinds of content from a bunch of groups, especially since it doesn't seem like most of the suggested content is very long variety videos for some of them. Still, that can definitely be a bit too much in terms of content to get through for one video - low lore Blinko is such a fun way to still get around to them, I love it!

We need a BOTM chosen by Blinko, those coins had taste! A dingo staff member said that they had to heavily edit the BtoB killing voice because the mics were picking up multiple members' vocals, so the adlibs for Prayer and some other songs were more muted and the vocals were heavily edited to emphasise the main vocal parts. And, uh, there are many many Hyunsik thirst traps out there for those with eyes to see.

hehe Eunkwang really is annoying (affectionate)! BTOB have a ton of other non-ballad songs as well! Their early title tracks were very much 2nd gen boy group EDM realness haha - Wow, Insane, Thriller etc. are so different from the more ballad-ish turn they took after It's Okay. If you haven't heard them yet, I also suggest b-sides like Guitar (Stroke of Love), My Friend's Girlfriend, My Lady!

the whole thing with the english affectation (or aspiration i forgot what adam called it lol) is so spot on and it’s something i’ve also noticed. but also, depending on the region ur from (at least here in the us) the speech pattern lacks that little breath at the end of words, especially if ur from the south with a southern accent (im from texas). i find it so fascinating; i’ve only ever noticed the extra syllable at the end when ive travelled out of state, but more specifically when ive gone to california.

I will never get over SM fumbling EXO like this.. imagine having the full package of vocal powerhouses, incredible dancers, actually good rappers, top tier visuals and Thee best discography in kpop (and they aren't even my ult group) only to give them Nothing they deserved because they started to only prioritize NCT. EXO made them so much money they built their new headquarters for it but SM has never even allowed them to tour in Europe and the last time they performed in the states was nearly a decade ago. they could have had BTS level of fame if it wasn't for SM's dreadful management since they naturally dominated kpop from 2013-17 and have retained an immense fanbase despite minimal comebacks and promoting in recent years. I was just at SMtown London (where only 3 EXO members performed) and Suho saying they want to finally tour in Europe made me almost emotional. it's been 13 whole years.. we really need to get Adam and RJ into EXO. I mean, they're the forefathers of omegaverse on top of all their other achievements? what's not to enjoy lol

oh no, gurl! as sb who got into kpop primarily for the insane vocal talent and read every vocal analysis by trained vocalists/ vocal coaches as if I was christian and that was my bible, this is crazy SM erasure considering they created four vocal powerhouse boy groups. I hate SM as much as as the next SM groups’ fan but to their credit they truly have been the only kpop company to not only consistently pick out naturally amazing vocalists but to also focus this much on professionally training them to have great technique (and even they've fallen off with the newer groups, no shade, just sad we hardly get groups with heavenly vocals these days). for example Baekhyun still consistently goes to a vocal coach, which is atp his own choice of course to improve even more. as an amalgamation of analyses by different vocal coaches I’ve made this simplified list of the vocal-forward boy groups' most proficient members' vocal ranking: (god-tier vocalists between asterisks, the incredible vocalists in normal text and the great vocalists in brackets for clarity) Super Junior - *Kyuhyun*, *Ryeowook*, Yesung EXO - *Chen*, Baekhyun, Kyungsoo Shinee - *Jonghyun*, Onew, Taemin BTOB - *Eunkwang*, Sungjae, Changsub TVXQ - *Junsu*, Jaejoong, Changmin 2AM- Jo Kwon, Changmin Infinite: Woohyun, Sungkyu Seventeen - Seungkwan, (DK, Woozi) of course you’re never going to achieve full objectivity because the subjectivity in enjoying different vocal tones will always impact the ranking even done by professionals. however, this is how I’ve seen vocal coaches most often rank boy groups by vocal prowess (and of course vocal pedagogues rank vocalists not just based on range but take all the aspects of vocal technique into account like resonance, intonation, tonality, placement, projection, stability, support, interpretation etc etc). obviously there are good vocalists in other groups too but I’ve only included the ones who have at least one incredible vocalist in the group. Suju has the strongest infamous KRY vocal line with Kyuhyun and Ryeowook consistently rated as some of the best vocalists in kpop and Yesung not far behind. Shinee, EXO, TVXQ and BTOB are next with one god-tier vocalist and 2 incredible vocalists (Taemin improved so much from an average to an incredible vocalist, very proud of him). Chen is commonly considered one of the best male vocalists in kpop. imagine having a group where sb like Baekhyun is 2nd or even 3rd best vocalist, insane. EXO has more members than Shinee so thanks to Suho and Xiumin also being good vocalists, their overall vocal strength (in harmonies etc) is bolstered. same phenomenon with Seventeen who in addition to the one incredible and two great vocalists listed have more good vocalists like Joshua and Jeonghan who make them sound stronger overall. however individually speaking Infinite and 2AM also both have two incredible vocalists. sure, e.g. the KVA (famous kpop vocal analysis blog) ranking method wasn’t ideal (which is why I didn’t refer to it) but they still provided in-depth professional vocal analyses with minimal bias so it was very sad to see them being hounded by immature fans who couldn’t stand the fact that their oppars can objectively at best hold a note. although I do appreciate that one of the reasons that KVA stopped ranking vocalists was Jonghyun tragically taking his own life and his general sentiment that he was never good enough despite objectively being one of the most talented and well-loved idols in history. the KVA obviously had ranked him as one of the best vocalists but still felt that this direct comparison between idols’ talents, which the fan wars had made very toxic, was detrimental to idols’ mental health. as someone who got into kpop because of Shinee with jongkey as my biases and was an emotional wreck due to the grief for around half a year after Jonghyun’s passing, I did appreciate their compassion. however, at the same time I think infantile fans and haters are still to blame for pitting idols against one another. for example, Key is still my favourite artist and yet the fourth best vocalist out of five in Shinee. vocal talent is not end-all be-all of what makes someone an exceptional, talented, unique and well-rounded artist. this doesn’t apply to kpop as much perhaps but in fact many of the best vocalists in the world are rather boring artists. for example, I do love a good ballad but to me Kyuhyun's choreography of beautiful ballads doesn't have enough range and it's just not a genre of music I would listen to day-to-day (but obviously ballads are The most popular genre in SK so with his voice best suited for them I can see why that's his focus). in general I can even enjoy music from singers who can barely stay in tune if they have catchy music and love the top vocalists simultaneously. it’s really not that deep and we shouldn’t have to pretend that some vocalists aren’t innately superior just because of people’s personal preferences.
