Spoilers for the manga/anime (but not this show): Big info dump time!! Ok so in the og the honey indeed happens bc jin is sick and he uses the excuse of honey being good for your throat to persuade akin into having sex (or akin uses that on jin? Its been a min I cant remember) but its both a fan fave scene (lol) and kinda pivotal for their relationship as a whole (moreso the things that happen leading up to the honey) At this point in the og they'd slept together a bunch already, which akin was very vocally opposed to (dont think about it turn the woke off) but he really liked it and started to fall for jin, so when jin suddenly goes completely cold on him akin felt VERY used and betrayed bc not only did he start to feel things, he let jin literally use his body til he was seemingly tired of him and threw him away. So in the og akin is MAD and also very sad, which is why he drags him into his flat to talk. Except his version of talk is "fine if you dont want me anymore I'm going to give u a blow job for the last time and also cry a lot" and its a very crazy scene, this remake defo made is softer. I think they added the 21 days thing in to try and explain why akin would be mad at jin ignoring him since they havent had sex yet in this version. Also the jun thing when akin is drunk actually happens after the honey scene in the og (and I mean right after the honey scene, honey still on bodies), where jin asks akin to call him by his actual name but he fucks up and calls him "chunta" instead of "junta" (jin's name in the og) so to get that nickname in they just made akin be drunk instead , very sad Takato (akin) is EXTREMELY princess in the og, like thats his whole thing, very princess and very cat, I actually think boom plays him perfectly lol, jin is also Very dog so the show did that well, but you're right in the og jin is also kinda a psycho with a never ending libido but the world sees him as this cute pure angel, so akins nickname for him is "___ angel", that blank typically being filled with the words horny and insatiable💀 unfortunately they made his nickname in the show wooden boy bc his acting was stiff or w/e 😐 boooo , but thats the angel wing motif lol Once again I am deeply saddened by what this show couldve been😭 im so sorry to the director and writers but I think if we had some diff people in those departments it could've REALLY ate bc smartboom really commit and play the characters VERY well As problematic as it can be the anime is my beloved guilty pleasure fave anime lol I'm very passionate about takato and chunta like I'd ride or die for them, especially takato, so watching this its really hard not to Really yap😭 like i havent even mentioned how the anime tells it out of order and how I think that works so well...ugh I would do ANYTHINGGGG for an anime reaction but I fear the chances are -1000000/10 💔

The show they're making is actually very similar to a very famous Chines BL novel Erha, which had a very expensive censored adaption that has yet to air because it is in censorship jail for the past 7 years.

I'm surprised to see you guys laugh at the serious wuxia scenes...😅 Sure, the show is campy, but I think they execute all the dramatic moments really well, especially since it's elevated by Boom and Smart's acting. All the industry/ behind the scenes talk is handled really well, even if they are spoonfeeding you the lines/plot, I think it's good that they include those scenes and take them seriously, especially because how often stuff like what this show is decipting still happens in the BL industry, not just in Thailand... 🤷‍♂️😕

i mean my brain turns off with most plotty mafia type stuff in bl just like the novas, but i never felt that way about the plot in the untamed because it is actually well written and there is no separating the "politics" out from the core of wei wuxian and lan wangji's relationship. Plot, which you are referring to as politics, is fine when it has actual emotional weight, it's not hard to follow. Now, the first three episodes when you dumped into the middle of the story with 0 explanation is tough, but as soon as the flashback starts, you can start to grasp characters and what's going on.

okay you guys have brought it up enough times in the past month (twice) where i feel like i can say it. let's just do the untamed, divas. think about it. 3 40 minute episodes once a week (4 on good weeks!) that's four months of good good content, of incredible character writing, theatrical staging/sets/costumes/makeup but all on screen - and wigs! i'm a self proclaimed expert on all things mdzs, i could give you guys a cheat sheet, a what you need to know going into it, type of break down - NO SPOILERS of course. rant over, thank you for listening regarding top form: this show is so much weirder on my second round watching it, maybe it's because you guys are seeing all the things i didn't see. what an odd little show. i don't hate it, mind you, but wow
