We’d like to thank Professor Blue for her reading. It sounds so genuinely French. I don't really trust myself with French, though. It just doesn't connect with me, except for French songs. But with Italian or Spanish, I get this inner 'YES'—with French, that 'YES' is just missing. Even a woman whispering something in French into your ear just isn't the same as that Spanish or Italian vibe...

I'm curious about your studies en francais, and also about Duras. Any pointers to readable authors are valuable to me.

Amazon had a 2-novella set in paperback (the other is called "the slut of normandy beach"), Englished by Alberto Manguel - I remember reading an anthology of fantastic short stories selected and translated by him, stuff like "House Taken Over," and another story by Sylvia Townsend Warner - about a Phoenix - that I hadn't come across.
