The miniature, in blue and major gold, illustrates the theme of the Virgin of the Apocalypse, "dressed in the sun, the moon under her feet..." (Rev. 12:1). The manuscript, commissioned by Amadeus VIII and completed for Charles I, is the illustrated Apocalypse of the Dukes of Savoy. Made in Thonon (Haute-Savoie), it was illuminated in two stages: by John Baptist and Peronet Lamy between 1428 and 1435 for the first leaves, then by John Colombe between 1485 and 1490. Spain, Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Laurentina Library, Codex Vitrinas 1, Illustrated Apocalypse of the Dukes of Savoy, f° 20r, 41 × 26.5 cm
