I approached this one with the idea of adding lights and shadows layer after layer. This was the sequence I had planned:- Mid tones (flat colors) - Shadows- Ambient Occlusion- Reflected lights- Highlights (I would say these are useful to keep in mind regardless of the process!)

At the AO stage I realized it would've been been quicker and better to start rendering even before that. I decided to complete the AO layer, then added the rest I had planned by rendering!
