Evening peeps, Scriptor here with the latest newssss!

Technical stuff

I’ve brought my pc to the shop last Monday, and we’ve likely(?) pinpointed the issue: It turned out that the CPU (14th gen Intel) was the culprit, though that hardly comes to me as a surprise. Having been an issue since I bought the computer.... I thought it resolved by under-clocking the CPU to keep it stable, but apparently it still degraded behind the screens... eventually causing those blue-screens which had been plaguing my computer during boot last week.

Luckily it seems Intel has brought out a BIOS update to address the issue, and a replacement CPU is underway and due to arrive end this week. Which will hopefully be the end of it. In the meantime my uncle was kind enough to let me borrow an I3 CPU so I can keep working on my main rig. Praise be that RPGMaker MV runs basically on a potato and that's all I need at this point in the dev cycle! 🥔

Game development

Despite the computer issues I’ve managed to keep a solid pace in the writing/implementation of the upcoming update, quickly nearing the beta build: The guardian drone battle has been implemented, together with the playable portion of their bad end. I’ve implemented a big chunk of the remaining maps too, a lot of flavor fluff...and also coding everything together under the hood. To turn it all in a cohesive, chronological experience. ^^

The only things I still need to implement before the update goes into the beta (debugging/polishing) phase are the woodlands map in which the driders roam/have made their home. A shortcut back to the main hub area and another metric crapton of fluff/lore... all of which I’m aiming to have done before the weekend rolls over. 💪

Time for the teasers!

Teasers

Moreee in-game teasers today! Starting off with the now-implemented drone mini-boss battle, as I’ve said before; Kathleen would be well-served not to wind up in their clutches...

Though she’s not the only one down there that has to keep an eye out for the things! Other adventurers seem to (eventually) find their way down into the ruins as well. And just as Kathleen they better be careful...

Lest they end up in the dungeon’s denizens’ hands too >;3

And that’s all for this dev update folks, see you all at the next one this Sunday! ^^

Greetz,

Scriptor

Work the CPU issue into the game. You still need the classic "part in the story where the whole world goes sideways and the player is jailed/stranded, breaking from the usual game routine. Maybe have the VR hub world bluescreen and require repairing, etc. Lots of possibilities for building something in that reminds you of what happened with your computer, many years into the future. :)

One of the great things I like about your game is the little adventures you have when you are "assimilated" and serve the bad guys. I really liked the part where the heroine becomes a drone in the second virtual world (although too short for my taste). So seeing that you can be again a drone serving bad guys again pleases me a lot!
