Anna Phylaxis

Having your own thoughts narrated to you before you think them must be the most fantastically unsettling and upsetting experience. Yikes.

Adam Chan

I wonder if this conversation affects the future Jadis sees? Or perhaps it's all set in stone to her, even this revelation to Allison.

Francesco Villani

That's the price of omniscience, I guess. Poor Jadis.

Socratease

Fuck. Yeah, that'd do it. Maybe Jadis can change what she sees. Maybe not. But she can't pull herself together enough to try. She's zero-summing.

Guy Rixon

"Where do I fit" is a scream for help. But Jadis quoting Allison, or just Jadis, finally panicking?

doeful

Jadis is echoing the alt-text for the pages prior. That's chilling to me for whatever reason

Ben

Jadis should tell Allison that Steve Jobs is going to die of Ligma

Paris Oliveros

Okay that's a terrifying amount of omniscience (sp?).

Michael Frankham

Is Jadis even a sentient being any more, or just flesh being puppeted by fate itself? If there's a conscious mind left in there it's at most screaming in horror while being fore-aware of every neuron connection that produces that screaming in horror and how it will scream. While a tiny corner of it does everything with her body that she knows she must and will.

Wower

"I want to get off Mr Jadis' wild ride."

Monsieur Meuble

New headcanon : Jadis’ world is the future of current Gunnerkrigg Court, her ancestors are the ones in charge of the Omega Project, and, yes, it’s just as bad as Renard, Coyote and Loup supposed to have abolished the Ether and humanity’s free will.

Jathby Dredas

The absolute horror of a deterministic universe.

arcee

No one likes a show-off, Jadis.

Michael Bruner

Welp, I'd jump in an ice cube too if I was stuck seeing the universe like this. Though I suspect Jadis's understanding is still probably about as good as Aesma's "Somewhat Wheel Shaped" when it comes to the real big picture.

Brian Miller

There's a difference between knowing the future, and being able to change it. The problem is not knowing how someone's meat-machine brain works, the problem is changing the programming when a good portion of it is essentially learned reflex, essentially becoming hard-wired. So just because Jadis can know the future, it doesn't mean that a set of actions on someone's part can be changed. Jadis probably lives in a state similar to Cassandra, of Greek legend.

Guy Rixon

Poor Janis is so stuck! All demiurge’s are stuck but most could backtrack a little. I think Jadis can break out of predestination but she would have to give up all her knowledge. She’d have to lose her one big achievement and fail.
