In his acceptance speech for the MVD OF THE YEAR award, TAKUMI said something along the lines of, “I didn’t perform well enough this season to deserve this award. MEME, INFINITY TWIGGZ, and Shigekix all did a better job,” and tried to decline the prize money. No further updates have been announced regarding what happened afterward.

Oh my goodness. I bet many people disagreed with his statement right?

It’s true that there were many dancers who stood out more than Takumi this season, but Takumi still had some solid moments, like placing first in the cypher round. I’m not sure whether the award takes fanbase into account to some extent, but I think Takumi can be a little more confident! Since D.LEAGUE executive tends to run the league with fandom in mind, there may have been some discussion about that among the dancers.

He also said something along the lines of, “I won this award thanks to the fans,” which I think is also a form of protest against the D.LEAGUE’s award system. (The fact that TAKI and HINATA are among the “BEST 8” selected from all players shows that the popularity vote has a significant influence.)

I think some awards are okay to be based on popularity and some in competency. I wish it wasn’t a negative towards either side!
