Why was it that Vince McMahon changed Christian's theme from Waterproof Blonde to Story of the Year? Whatever happened to Waterproof Blonde?

I actually heard a story about this quite a while back that Christian had told other wrestlers. It was a Vince McMahon call, because he was of the belief that men who were babyfaces shouldn't have female singers for the theme songs, so that's why the switch was made from Waterproof Blonde to Story of the Year.

When I reached out to people who worked in the music department from that era, I was told that it cost WWE substantially more money to have the song re-done by an active, popular music act than just using the Waterproof Blonde version. Also, Waterproof Blonde had split up by then.

Waterproof Blonde also did Sean O'Haire's theme. I'm pretty sure the lead singer is a hair stylist in the Louisville area. That's where a lot of the band members originated from.

This always felt weird to me even though Story of the Year is one of my all time favorite bands
