Do you think Mania 42 would have sold out if they had gone to New Orleans this weekend as was originally announced?
Yes, I do think it would have. The general product is not as hot right now as it was last year, but all of the locals who wanted the one time experience of attending WrestleMania have already done that. New Orleans badly wanted their WrestleMania and got over 78,000 in 2018, which hasn't been close to touched since then. They really should have done New Orleans this year, but alas, here we are.
hi Sean! thanks for all of the great work. with Demolition headed into the Hall of Fame I wanted to ask about Crush. I know Ax was having health issues that led to Crush's inclusion in the team but his tenure with them was so short it almost doesn't seem worth the trouble. was it always planned to be a really brief thing with the post WrestleMania VII split or did Vince just decide it wasn't working or what? and if I can sneak in a follow up question, were there initially plans for post Demolition babyface surfer Crush to be higher up the card?
As best I know, it was always a permanently planned split. I'm not even sure they had real plans for any of them individually, but they definitely knew they were done with Ax on a pretty permanent basis. It's wild to think that 44 years old was too far for them, especially considering Ax worked over 250 matches after that, but his work had fallen off a cliff. Crush actually continued his Demolition character outside WWF for a little bit. They had high hopes for Crush a number of times, but it never quite got to the right level with him.
Was there any talk of McIntyre beating Roman at clash at the castle and do you see Drew getting a babyface title run he didn’t get during covid
I'd never heard of any talk of Drew McIntyre beating Roman Reigns there. Pretty well the plan was for Cody to win it by the time he was making his return for the Royal Rumble, even if is wasn't straight away in 2023 like it should have been. Yes. I think that Drew McIntyre will hit that Orton level of babyface where the audience loves and respects him for the work he's put in and he'll become the foil for someone.
