Yeah, this is certainly an intense episode. After spending many episodes on setup, the show finally kicks into action with big reveals and emotional gut punches. Chiwa Saito did a great job voicing Subaru during the scene when Subaru goes berserk. You can really feel the rage and anguish in her voice. Subaru being a combat cyborg provides context to the Numbers' earlier lines about Subaru and Ginga being "Type Zeroes" and Ginga being "the first produced." It also explains Subaru's concerned expressions when looking at the combat cyborgs' data and the "medical examination" that Subaru and Ginga underwent in an earlier episode. In addition, it explains why Nove has such similar powers to Subaru and Ginga. We find out why Vice quit being a sniper and, well, it's pretty unfortunate. Erio's backstory is an interesting parallel and contrast to Fate's. Unlike Precia who abused and rejected Fate for not being enough like Alicia, Erio's parents used Erio as a replacement for their dead son without telling him, then gave up on him once the truth was revealed. Erio's parents weren't as abusive as Precia, but they still didn't treat Erio like his own person. It makes sense why Fate would take Erio in. The show spending the last four episodes endearing the audience to Vivio with all those cute scenes helps sell the emotional impact of Vivo being taken this episode. It also gives Nanoha a much more personal stake in the conflict. Now it's not just a job, but it's a matter of saving her daughter.

Yeah this is a big episode, a turning point in the story. The Numbers referred to Subaru and Ginga as 'Type 0s'. The term cyborg means a hybrid of organic and mechanical, like everyone in Cyperpunk 2077 would be a cyborg. In this setting it's possible it means something else but this is the general term. Maybe the mechanical parts can take in energy and build itself bigger to match organic growth, or maybe it's just magic and/or nanotech behind the scenes. Subaru and Ginga had a special medical check a few episodes ago, likely to make sure everything was still working properly. An Android would just be a full robot, and a clone of a person is fully organic. When Zest was fighting Vita, they ran out of time and were going to retreat. Zest said he'd use his power to stop Vita, but Agito revealed that using that would hurt him, shave off some of his life. So she separated and tried this big fireball, then Vita went to smack her down. In order to save Agito, Zest used his power anyway, and that's why she had that look on her face after he swooped in and knocked Vita back. In trying to stop him from using this power he had to use it anyway to save her instead, whatever the cost of this power he's still going to be paying it. Caro summoning Voltaire was still a good thing, the remaining Gadgets were announcing they were planning to level the rest of the building entirely. With Voltaire there was a force to stop them from completing that final part of their mission. I've re-watched that Subaru scene so many times, it's one of my favorite in the entire anime. Her screams, the look in her eyes, the way her magic circle becomes raw instead of focused and defined. The way she just plows forward through the incoming fire not even trying to defend, just to get to her sister even if she has to go through these people. The way she fights becomes just brute raw force, ignore defense, ignore damage, ignore tactics, just get to Ginga.

Probably worth mentioning that all of the big reveals here also put into context Teana's earlier anxiety about her being only a "normal person" compared to the other Forwards.

Episode storyboard by series director 草川啓造 (Keizou Kusakawa) for the first time since episode 1 mixed with the one of the biggest animator set ups I have seen on StrikerS so far (it's far more spread out than in the previous one cour seasons of course)... I can feel from that alone that one wanted to make this feel like a turning point as much as possible.

- 21:24: I don't think anyone attacked during this mission is actually dead? Like their intent was to use as non lethal weapons as possible to achieve their goal. - 28:09: The Type 0 Combat Cyborgs, Subaru and Ginga.
