oh boy its the infamous salt episode...

Salt is extremely important. Not just for seasoning, but your body needs the sodium to live. It's also for food preservation, which if you're as low on food as White Base, could wipe the crew out before the enemy soldiers get to them. Very real emergency.

D. L. Pulver

I don't think White Base is hunting for fresh meat/fish and salting it, rather than using refrigerated stocks. Unless it is - which we haven't seen - the salt issue seems overblown for dramatic effect: the kidneys adapt to a salt shortage unless you are also in hot weather, and White Base is an air-conditioned spaceship. The cook's right in that there would be some minor combat impairment for a few days due to fatigue, but it's less than the effects of sleep deprivation. Frau Bo is exaggerating to get Amuro to eat his food! While getting salt is useful for morale and optimum performance, it's not a crisis. There's enough natural sodium in all foods (except fruit or sugars) to meet the minuscule salt the human body needs to survive.

lol It might just me think as a chef. I've seen how food can go bad in a few days even under refrigeration. I dont actually know the science behind it, but I'd still probably have the same reaction as chef here.
