Hi Everyone! It's time for another terrifying, action packed alien movie! I didn't think I could love Ripley any more than I already did, but boy was I wrong haha. She's so badass in this movie! Thank you all so so so much for voting we watch this. It really had everything... incredible characters, breathtaking sets and so many one liners that I'll be quoting for the rest of my life hahaha.

Just about to sit down to watch this, very excited. My 4K preorder hasn’t been released yet so I’ll have to settle for plain old Bluray (still looks great), there’s no way I’m waiting 3-4 weeks before enjoying this watchalong. Regarding memorable quotes, I think Hudson has the best. Favourites of his that spring to mind are (almost certainly not word for word but…) “That’s it, game over man, game over”. “Stop your grinnin and drop your linen”. “Maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked pal”. But one of my all time favourite quotes from any movie is “why don't you put her in charge”. I still love that one even a dozen times later. Anywho, I’m wasting time, let’s go!

Noah Vogt

Ripley is not just the greatest female action hero on screen, but truly one of the greatest action heroes in all of cinema. She is such a terrifically written character. I cannot imagine anyone bringing the humanity and gravitas that Sigorney Weaver did.

MotoDork

Unfortunately my laserdisc player is on the fritz, so I can’t watch this right now. Sad.

MotoDork

Also I’m just over here patiently awaiting Return of the King.

scott osborne

dam it i had to rent it you own me £3.99 lol now lets see if we get any lagging like on the last 3 films the only film that did not lag was the 1st alien film can i offer a little advice when you play the films can you let the 1st 20 seconds play with sound before the blur and the mute kicks in its just so that we can get sync up with you

scott osborne

god dam it how why were watching the same dame thing its lagging wtf is going on can anyone tell me and shandra and jordan what the heck is going on there is a lag of upto 2 seconds every 10seconds ish are there any other brits here and are you having the same problem sorry shandra idk if your name is spelt with a s or c

MaplenutsReact

That sucks! Well it'll be here waiting for you ❤️

MaplenutsReact

Haha you bet your butt it's coming. This time we won't wait quite as long between movies!

MaplenutsReact

We can totally do this! I'm so sorry it's not syncing up for you, I'm not sure what the heck is going on there.

MaplenutsReact

Haha, it's spelled Chandra, but it's a unique name so all good. We haven't had anyone else mention lag, but maybe no one else is from the same place as you... It's so odd that the movies wouldn't be the same!

ButtercupsTrueLove

Just so you know... your reaction to "Aliens" synced perfectly with my Blu-ray "Aliens" Special Edition and did not have to periodically re-sync during play.

ButtercupsTrueLove

Scott, are you watching the Special Edition? It's longer than the theatrical version by more than 10 minutes.

James Hadden

Having just finished watching, another Hudson quote I laughed at: “Maybe we’ve got them demoralised” Besides Chandra fan-girling over Ripley (and who can blame her), my favourite bit of your reaction was - Jordan after the drop ship crash: “well, at least they took care of that one alien” 😆 Such an awesome movie, one of my favourites. The characters, visuals and sound design are just amazing. Regarding sequels, Alien3 gets a bad rap but personally I think the Assembly Cut/Special Edition is decent enough (for me a lot better than the theatrical version) so I’d be happy for you to watch that. Alien Resurrection (no. 4) also has lots of good things going for it, if perhaps not the general script/story, but I really like the characters in that.

James Hadden

Scott, if it’s losing sync right from the start and you’re watching a DVD then that is most likely the cause. It’s a common problem I face in the UK when watching North American reactions. I believe it’s down to PAL vs NTSC and different FPS. Blurays however sync up fine.

scott osborne

im not watching a dvd i downloaded it from sky for rent

scott osborne

yes im watching the special edition just like jordan and shandra is/was

scott osborne

ok cool i wasnt sure always best to ask sorry i was spelling her name with an s

James Hadden

Watching on Sky has the same sync issues as DVDs for me

scott osborne

hummm the funny thing is i did not have the same problem when watching alien the sync on that was perfect and i watched that on sky

I’m so busy with life I haven’t been here for a while. Okay so if you guys are planning to watch more Alien movies, Alien 3 & 4(Alien Resurrection) both have Ripley in them, and both are hated by some. Alien 3 starts off 3/6 days after end of 2 (😳). Resurrection is supposed to be the last film from the Alien Franchise that’s all I can say, but you guys should watch Predator next😎👍

MaplenutsReact

Hahaha I didn't remember Jordan saying that, so reading it now gave me a good chuckle. And thanks for the heads up on the next movies!

MaplenutsReact

Hopefully things settle a bit for ya! And we're glad to have ya back ❤️ Okay, knowing Ripley is in both immediately has me sold haha... I love her so much!!

Nathan Jasper

I would skip alien 3 and 4 but I definitely recommend the prequels Prometheus and Alien Covenant

Nathan Jasper

Alien 3 had a good concept as a prison planet is the main focus but story-wise and writing wise... Not so good

MaplenutsReact

That's too bad, that does sound like it could have been a really cool movie!

Raven Dark

So, I did a stupid thing. I listened to you talk before and after both alien movies tonight before I went and watched the first film, then I left my comment on the first one. Only in that comment, I forgot that half the things you said which I was commenting on, you actually said in your review for this film. LOL Oh well. Great reaction anyways, guys. These movies will never get old, and you just make them even better.

Hans Engelen

I would still watch it. Reactors should be allowed to make up their own mind on these things.

Hans Engelen

Not to mention it has Tywin Lanister in it :)

Alex Nowak

Oh I realized 30 minutes in that you guys are watching the Special Edition, the regular edition is the one on Hulu (at least or me).

MaplenutsReact

Oh shoot! I hope it's not too difficult finding the special edition! We try to always watch the most available version, but it's tricky with all the different streaming services and whatnot, especially because we're in Canada.

I saw this film when I was 10 (I know, crazy). My friend's parents were on leave for training, but our houses were connected (military base). His parents let all of us take over the house, and my mom would check on us here and there. There was about to be a massive blizzard (this is in Japan), so we decided to walk to the Rec-Center and rent a bunch of movies. There were basically no rules for what we could rent, so I went straight to the crazy-looking movies. This film kicked our asses. "It's like Contra III: The Alien Wars!". We watched it back-to-back-to-back. One of my greatest movie-watching memories. "Game over, man! Game OVER!". We quoted that for the rest of the year, non-stop. And now, I'm gonna have a glass of wine, and watch it with you guys!

Darian Harman

God, this movie gets so much better with age. The older you get, the more you peer into the themes and layers of the film. If you'd asked me when I was 10 what I thought this movie was about, I would have said, "Space marines and aliens, kinda like Contra". In my 20's, "Corporate greed and survival-horror". Now? "It's the ultimate mom vs. mom showdown". I miss movies like this. Weathered. Grimy. Sweaty. Dirty. Fun fact: That gun Vasquez was using is actually a repurposed Steadicam rig!

MaplenutsReact

Omg, 10 years old!? I would have been cowering under the couch the whole time hahaha. I'm glad you loved it then though, and can now enjoy it again with us!

Darian Harman

Haha! Yeah, but we were a bunch of dudes, so we were all trying to "look cool" in front of each other! Nobody wanted to be the dude who was like, "Uhhhh, this shit is scary AF and I want my mommy", even though that's what we were all thinking.

penoyer79

still the most intense movie i've ever seen. the only thing that even remotely came close to this experience was the original jurassic park.

Jay Johnson

the lady that played Newt is now an elementary school teacher (at least according to google). Just thought that was a fun tidbit

pinkdino99

And she has just started acting again !

pinkdino99

Ho boy... that goes to show that taste is different for different people. I'd go straight from Prometheus to Romulus.

Nathan Jasper

You need Covenant to explain what Prometheus set up.

pinkdino99

This is up there with Die Hard as the best action movie of all time. I first watched this on VHS at home aged 13, and it scarred me mentally far more than Alien has ever done. I'd be lying awake at 3am soaked in sweat, staring at the ceiling imagining what it would be like to be one of those colonists in the walls. Seeing all my friends and family die in screaming agony. Feeling this thing growing inside of my chest. Dan Bannon and Ridley Scott looked at insect behaviour whilst they were conceptualising Alien. And they wanted men to also feel the fear of being "r^ped" by these creatures. Bishop (Henrikson), Vasquez (Goldstein) and Hudson (Paxton) went on to make Near Dark with Kathryn Biglow (Point Break) whom was married to James Cameron at the time. A grungy, noir, cult 80s vampire movie. Alien3 is worth the watch as it was David Fincher's first film (Se7en, Fight Club), but you should watch the unofficial cut as the studio messed with the theatrical release. Other reactors have all been impressed. Alien Resurrection isn't great, but has some cool gags and ideas (mostly taken from the comic books). Prometheus is a prequel from Ridley Scott and LOOKS amazing. Its direct follow up Covenant is also considered weak. Alien Romulus fits in the timeline between Alien and Aliens and is absolutely brilliant. It carries the aesthetic from the originals with some great ideas and the best characters since Aliens with an impressive lead from Cailee Spaeny. I have not seen Alien: Earth the TV show, but have heard good things.

Chryss Guiler

I actually watched this with you on Vudu, but years ago I bought the Alien Quadrilogy on regular DVD and that's how I usually watch these movies. I don't really care for Alien 3 and Alien 4, but I've only ever seen the theatrical releases. Being a happy-ending kind of gal, I prefer to believe that Ellen, Dwayne, and Rebecca lived happily ever after as a family back on Earth. :D

Barry

Are y'all planning on watching 3 & 4?
