Afternoon everyone!I don't know how you're doing it, but last week's poll was another nail-biter. The winner for the Patrick Swayze Movie Poll (by 2 votes!) was Ghost. With a poll that close, we have a hard time stopping with just one winner. That's why we're happy to announce that we're not going to stop at just one Swayze movie... or two, or even three. That's right folks, we're going to do them all! The winner Ghost goes up on a regularly scheduled Tuesday, and then the rest of the Swayze movies you all just voted on will get posted on a 'Swayze Saturday' of each month after that. (Probably the first Saturday of the month TBD).So we'll watch them all, that is, unless some disaster happens like say, AN ASTEROID FROM OUTER SPACE. To make sure we're prepared (just in case!) we should probably watch the highest voted asteroid movie!

The Dingo

Deep Impact has a much better human story and honestly is much more realistic. Hope it wins! Armageddon requires a fair about of suspension of disbelief and is more of an action flick.

Oliver

Deep impact > Armageddon

Nathan Jasper

Armageddon's gonna win but man those other 3 are seriously better quality wise. Armageddon's just more fun lol

Deano

While deep impact and armegeddon are 90s classics, Greenland is really slept on

Simone's Coconut Squire

Don’t Look Up should be on this list! And possibly Moonfall for sheer badness.

RP

Armageddon will win I’m sure but Deep Impact is a far superior movie IMO, I can watch it over and over and it still hits hard. I have no interest in watching Armageddon again, so I’m hoping you still watch Deep Impact as well if only to compare the 2 as they are always talked about in relation to each other. 🍻

Anyone else feel like Melancholia belongs on this list? Technically, it doesn't belong, but thematically, I think it does. Maybe I just have a crush on Kirsten Dunst, though.

Wade Wallenstein

I agree with Deep Impact being the film with a lot more heart. Armageddon is more of a "Popcorn" film but I would still watch it with you!

Raven Dark

The Swayze-a-thon makes me so happy. Ghost and Dirty Dancing were both high, high on that list I hit you with, and you will love both. Also, I agree with what so many others have said here--Armageddon will win, and it is a good movie, but Deep Impact has more heart and will probably leave a... well... a bigger impact.

These Final Hours (2013) An Australian sci-fi apocalyptic thriller directed and written by Zak Hilditch, starring Nathan Phillips and Angourie Rice in her film debut. The film is set in Perth and follows James, a man who, after an asteroid collision in the North Atlantic, has approximately twelve hours before a global firestorm reaches Western Australia. As James attempts to find meaning in his final hours, he becomes involved in a journey to reunite a young girl, Rose, with her family, confronting personal regrets and the inevitability of death.

LMAO I couldn't help myself.

I took five different women to watch "Armageddon!" in theaters for four separate viewings. This movie was a MEGA HIT, if you catch my drift! [Two of them were sisters!]

Chris Foster

Armageddon feels like a music video. Quick cuts, nonsensical behaviour from characters and MURICA themes. Typical Michael Bay movie. Although, I like The Rock and 13 Hours from him.

John Conti

Really cool film and I agree Kursten Dunst in that film wow😁

Brutally Goofy Buddha

I knew practically everyone would choose Armageddon. It is the bigger hit film with a star-studded cast, but Deep Impact was my choice mainly because of its far more realistic take that honestly deals with the human emotion surrounding such an event rather than just going for the big budget action garbage.

Drell77

I really like both movies each for what they both are and I do think they should really watch both

Brutally Goofy Buddha

I enjoyed both as well. I wasn't calling Armageddon garbage. I just think they leaned too heavily into what I call big budget action garbage. It's the kind of stuff that appeals to kids, which isn't necessarily bad, but definitely doesn't make for great adult films...😊
