Hey Everyone!Last week's poll winner was The Mummy Returns! It was an extremely close race with Karate Kid 2 and Tron Legacy, so we're aware of the interest in those as well! We also heard your comments about other sequels we're missing out on, so expect a poll about that in the near future. It's been a bit since our last Sci-Fi poll, so we've got a new one for y'all! This week we're asking which 2000's sci-fi movie you want to watch with us!

Darian Harman

Some absolute, all-time greats in this lineup.

Alan Black

Moon and Minority Report are fine movies but Children of Men and Eternal Sunshine are absolute classics. Please watch both!

Mathieu Paquin

Tough decision between Children of Men and Eternal Sunshine, both are fantastic choices!

Joseph Olson

Children of Men has a great reputation. I haven’t seen it all the way through. I really liked Eternal Sunshine and Minority Report. Any of those three would be good. Haven’t seen Moon, so no opinion on that one.

Thadman

I chose Moon 'cause I don't think I've ever seen someone react to it and it's really good. Feels very much like an old school 70s sci-fi movie.

Jeffrey Fisher

I actually haven't seen all of these, so I went with Minority Report. Good, fun sci-fi movie. Directed by Steven Speilburg and based off a story by Philip K Dick (Total Recall).

Helly R

All these are great.

Clay F

All 4 are excellent. I voted Children of Men. Eternal Sunshine is my favorite Jim Carrey movie. Kate Winslet nominated for an Oscar. Moon is stunning.

N.T. Stars

Seeing "Eternal Sunshine" activated my lizard brain. I clicked without even thinking. Another one of my absolute favorites.

JonB

Children of men and eternal sunshine are the real masterpieces here. All are great films. Moon holds a special place. Minority report for the "blockbuster" of the bunch.

inspectordh

Minority Report is a real good movie

Alice Devilman

Anyone else ever look at these polls and immediately assume that one choice is going to be so far out ahead of the other three it really shouldn't have been a poll in the first place... only to discover that it's pretty far behind the current leader? Really makes you wonder "What criteria are other people using to judge this stuff, because it's clearly not the actual principles of filmmaking."

Javo Vargas

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will blow your minds

James W.

Children of Men but really, all of them. These 4 movies are some of the best of modern Sci-Fi.

Sean, aka Turd Ferguson

Will watch whatever you pick, have only seen 2 of these, so the other 2 would be bonus watches.

TGrimace

All of these are amazing. But Moon? Yeah, gotta go with Moon. Moon is so original and has such amazing writing and acting.

Jim

I bought a boat and left my old life behind almost a year ago. My boat’s name is Eternal Sunshine. My puppy’s name is Clementine after the character from the movie. Hope it wins the poll

John Conti

Eternal Sunshine is easily the best! Please watch it,it really puts your mind to work.

John Conti

How is Minority report winning? All of the others are better films and make you really think.

John Conti

Which film are you referring to that should be winning?

Kenton Kruger

Most seen. Even in the comments you see people pointing out they haven't seen some or all of the other choices. That's the case for a lot of polls.

John Conti

Yeah I have seen them all and can confidently say Eternal sunshine is my favorite by far.

pinkdino99

Spielberg and Cruise.

Sam

I was certain Children of Men would be well ahead—not because it's my favorite, but I have noticed it tends to poll well. Minority Report wasn't even on my bingo card of possible poll leaders.

Alice Devilman

It was more of a general overall commentary about the whole space of reaction content in general. Whenever you find a creator that does polls or solicits input from the audience about content choices, 9 times out of 10, popular beats "artistic merit" and it becomes this self-referencing loop of popular staying popular because it's popular. Which normally I don't have an issue with at all because that's usually apropos for most channels, but both Jordan and Chandra know and understand things like cinematography choice, lighting, sound design, pacing, editing choices, etc etc. I always feel a little bit sad when I see the community gravitating towards more superficial "pop vibe" films instead of putting weight on the films that arguably have more artistic integrity, pedigree, and craftsmanship. Which, to be clear, I have nothing against a mindless summer blockbuster popcorn flick. They're fine and have their appropriate time and place. I'm just saying that when I see a poll that has Transformers up against Lost In Translation, and Transformer is at 79% and LIT is at 7%, I mourn the death of modern cinema and public that has lost its film literacy.

Browniewin

All good choices, but Moon is a tour de force by the always outstanding Sam Rockwell who is one of my favorite actors so it gets my vote. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind is engrossing, and Minority report is very entertaining. Children of Men I found kind of depressing.

Garth Mindfeather

Moon is such slow-burn character-study genius ... unlikely to win poll, and surprisingly part of a trilogy ... Moon / Mute / Madi i think is how it goes, with Madi being a graphic novel, and the connection mainly being it's all in the same near-future dystopian cyberpunk world (though Sam Rockwell's character from Moon shows up in a weird, amazing cameo on a television set in Mute)

Simone's Coconut Squire

Children and Eternal Sunshine were great movies and also just the type of movie I’m fine watching once but don’t have the desire to punch myself in the gut by watching them again.

Simone's Coconut Squire

I vote for what will be fun to watch. Some movies are great and important, but sometimes you go to the movies for fun, not a lecture.

penoyer79

Children of Men is the best movie. Minority Report is the popcorn movie.

JM63

Maybe at the end of the month C & J can do a random lottery drawing for the poll losers to give less popular films a chance. The drawing could be weighted (like the NHL Draft) to reflect the number of votes. (For example, one entry per 10% of votes received, rounded to the nearest 10%.) Did you watch their Rear Window reaction? It was great, and it's hard to beat that for artistic merit.

uggmugg

great rec. would go crazy and probably wouldnt be picked in a poll.

Oliver

Agreed. With Eternal Sunshine and Moon being absolutely terrible films.

KamikazeCDN

Minority Report is obviously going to win and that's fine, it's a good movie but Moon should totally stay on your radar for the future.

VirtuallyVeronicka

I’m all in for Children of Men!! I think everyone needs to see it at least once.
