Burying Howard under the lab is so disrespectful 💀

N.T. Stars

The shootout lit only by muzzle flashes is so primo. We know Jimmy's paranoia about Lalo is permanent, because when Walt and Jesse threaten him in the desert, he asks if Lalo sent them. Imagine being scared forever.

Die Vernon

This episode, or maybe the previous one Bob had a serious heart attack during the Lalo/Howard scene and Howards character kept him alive until paramedics arrived. Crazy times

Kenton Kruger

Rewatching BB knowing those two are buried under the lab does make those scenes feel different.

Yeah it's one of the crazier things they added in BCS that makes you re-think BB

It was during lunchbreak while shooting the first scene this ep with Lalo, Kim and Jimmy in the apartment.

I forget where I heard this, but Patrick Fabian mentioned at some point how pissed he was at himself for choosing to keep his eyes open for his death. Can't imagine how many hours he had to just lay there WITH HIS EYES OPEN the entire time.

Unintended consequences. A show of emotion. And life goes on. We know Saul rolls with this just fine - he continues his work as a "criminal" lawyer, goes into business with Walt & Jesse, and relocates to manage a Cinnabon instead of facing the consequences of his actions. I liked the congruity between Gus shooting Lalo and Lalo explaining to Saul and Kim how to shoot Gus. An idiot proof revolver. Pull the trigger, and keep on pulling the trigger.

You mentioned how long the week between episodes 7 & 8 was. Those of us who watched when they originally aired had to endure an artificial six-week break between "seasons". Howard went down on May 23, 2022, and his shoes washed up on the beach July 11.

Helly R

Jimmy finally said the Breaking Bad line, "It wasn't me it was Ignacio!". Bonkers that they invented a whole story out of that one throwaway line.

Daniel

In Breaking Bad I like to think Howard was reincarnated as the Fly in the lab that drives Walt insane and symbolizes his guilty subconscious for all the horrible things he has done. It seems fitting lol.

Not to be a "well actually" person but actually, in the scene you’re thinking of, Hank is asking about the cameras and the "two bodies" and told that the condition of the bodies found near the freight elevator, and there not being much left because of the extreme heat. They're not referring to the bodies buried under the lab in concrete. Those two bodies were Gus Fring’s henchmen. The only real tie‑in to Breaking Bad from Better Call Saul is Saul panicking about “Lalo” and “Ignacio” when Walt and Jesse kidnap him. So, there is a tie-forward.

Kenton Kruger

I wasn't thinking of that, those bodies were already explained in BB. I was just meaning in general.

And his mouth open! :P

As to what Lalo next to Howard symbolizes: It's a final convergences of of the two world and two characters into one - through tragedy. There is no more two worlds setup - world of Howard in which there was Chuck and Jimmy as a "maybe he will turn good one day" kind of a lawyer and the slippin Jimmy world that had Mike and Gus and others in it. Now it's just one world, one character, finally glued together. The two opposites are now whole. Convergence of Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad character.
