I will never forget the beating that Sam and Bucky put on fake ass Cap at the start of the episode.. so good and deserving!

I think the whole legal question about the shield is that it's made of Wakandan Vibranium, which was probably obtained illegally by Howard Stark or his associates. That makes it legally Wakandan property. My guess.

The conversation between Sam and Isiah hit so much harder for me in this second viewing.

This is my favorite episode of the show, and for very sobering reasons; which tracks, because this is the point in which the story becomes real for our main characters. However, it also becomes real for us, the audience. I think the inclusion of Isaiah Bradley as a parallel to the real-life stories of both the Red Tails and Henrietta Lacks really tells you just how ambitious they were willing to be with this series. Most people are incredibly unfamiliar with that subject matter--those, along with the Tulsa Massacre, remain largely untaught in American schools--and that's a terrible truth, because it's the kind of truth that could inspire radical change. What this episode handles quite well, in my opinion, is how Bucky comes to understand why Sam didn't just accept the shield. We don't learn it through Sam explaining his decision ad nauseam, we learn it through other characters working out their own issues, and we get to see Sam for who he is, but through their eyes. It's not saying, "Only black people could ever understand what it's like". In my opinion, it's instead saying, "Here's some stuff you might not have considered". This is why Sam is such a great character, as Chandra pointed out when talking about his hopefulness. He is not naive enough to believe that everything is just "hunky dory", but he's measured enough to not have become embittered by a reality which would pummel most people into apathy. He has always believed that he could make the world a better place, and even though a part of him acknowledges how "silly" that is, he still chooses to "Do the work", as he advised Bucky. I can understand Bradley saying that no self-respecting black man would ever want to pick up the shield, but at the same time, with that mindset, Jackie Robinson never would have become the first black man to play Major League Baseball, paving the way for the MLB we have today. It's a difficult balancing beam for anyone to traverse, because you can be hated by so many on both sides. I'm sorry. I'm writing quite a lot. I just think the writing of this show is really good, despite all of the behind-the-scenes issues that ended up happening.

If I recall correctly, people were saying that "Flagsmasher" is a character from the comics and his name was Karl Morganthau. I don't know anything about him though.
