Took the afternoon off work to relax. I think this will be a good way to spend the afternoon!

Sir_Dalagad

Ooooooh I don't know if you're ready for these practical effects. Let's watch!

John Colson

Such a great time watching along with you guys 🍿

MaplenutsReact

Aww yaay! I'm not sure how relaxing this movie will be though hahaha

John Colson

How much did Jordan remember from years ago?

Sir_Dalagad

Yeah that movie just keeps surprising with the great effects. So horrifying and still a bit of a psychological thriller 'cause you really don't know who to trust. Great reaction! If y'all get snowed in up there, feel free to react to some more great classics like this one, Loved it!

Noah Vogt

Haha! You got me there! Entertaining watch nonetheless. This movies and it's visual effects hold up so well every time I see it.

sarCC

Oh, another similarly excellent sci-fi horror remake is the 1978 Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, starring Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, and Leonard Nimoy!

MaplenutsReact

Oooo well that sounds terrifying Hahaha. Thanks for the recommendation!

Noah Vogt

Great reaction! One of Carpenter's best. Y'all's facials were priceless. So many WTF moments in this film. Some Russell film suggestions below, without giving away the plot. Overboard - Fantastic Rom Com with his real life partner Goldie Hawn. Big Trouble in Little China - Another Carpenter film, and one of Russell's most iconic and beloved roles. Unlawful Entry - Russell in one of his few non tough guy roles. An absolute electric performance from the late Ray Lioatta as well in this film. Tombstone - Arguably the best modern Western of all time with an all star cast. Kurt's great in it, but Val Kilmer is the main reason this should be seen. Christmas Chronicles - Kurt Russell as Santa. Need I say more?

MaplenutsReact

Oooo wow, thank you so much for all of these recommendations!! I really want to watch all of them! Haha

MaplenutsReact

Not a lot! I think he was actually more grossed out by the monster effects than I was! Hahaha

MaplenutsReact

Omg!! This is so amazing, I can't believe someone actually made this!

Mr. Writhms

May I suggest seeing the 2011 prequel "The Thing". It tells the story of what happened at the Norwegian camp before that dog reached the American camp. The movie gets bad shade because during the making, they scraped the practical effects and went with CGI. Actually the CGI effects aren't bad. Please consider it for the channel. I'm dying to see someone react to it. 😁

MaplenutsReact

Ah yes, we've had a few people recommend this movie! We'll definitely look into it! Thank you for the recommendation :)

William

A lot of people knock "The Thing, 2011" based at the Norwegian camp, but i think it is a great fim, prequel. Great reaction guys

Kevin Long

Kurt Russell in the iconic "escape from new york" another john carpenter classic

MaplenutsReact

Thank you so much!! We're both really curious to see that movie... My imagination has been running wild trying to think about what happened there haha

take it easy (tkitez)

Bit late on this one, but consider two things: 1) The thing can be more than one person at the same time (bloodbourne parasite/symbiote?) 2) What exactly are they drinking at the end as Mac and Childs laugh while the winter overtakes them? Is it liquor, or is it gasoline from them making the molotovs earlier? If it's the latter and the thing doesn't know the difference between the two, then of course Mac would laugh as he knows he's doomed and chose incorrectly the whole time or got outsmarted at the end. Kurt Russell flicks? Escape from NY/LA both have been mentioned and always do alongside his newer stuff (Hateful Eight/Klaus films, etc) but what about Used Cars and Stargate? Honorable mention to Soldier as a sweet 90s flick that really makes you appreciate how much of a story Russell can tell with just his face.

MaplenutsReact

I hadn't considered The Thing could be more than one person at a time!! Also thank you for all the recommendations, we both want to see more Kurt Russell!

Barry

The Thing from Another World (1951), the original adaptation of "Who Goes There" by John W. Campbell Jr. Also, Escape from L.A. (1996) and Soldier (1998)

Barry

Also, They Live (1988) and The Fog (1980). Two classic John Carpenter films.

pinkdino99

Please consider more John Carpenter goodies ; The Fog - classic Lovecraftian ghost story featuring Jamie Lee Curtis and her mum Janet Lee (Psycho) Prince of Darkness - the only film to successfully marry science and religion with Donald Pleasance (Halloween, Escape From New York) and Alice Cooper (yes... that one !)
