Happy Tuesday everyone! Okay, last poll winner was Alien! Thank you all so much for voting! We'll be releasing it right after Ferris Bueller's Day Off.Now for this week! This poll is going to be a bit less specific, because we want to get a good feel for what movie decades you all love most! So vote on which decade you want us to pick a movie from, and then in the comments below please feel free to leave suggestions for movies you like from the decade you chose!

I'm voting 80s but I think the 70s were the most influential decade in Cinema.

Sir_Dalagad

Man I love 80's movies, maybe 'cause they had a big influence on me as a kid. Every decade of movies get their own vibe heavily influenced by the tech and culture of the time, but the 80's have sooo many movies where there is just nothing like 'em. Iconic y'all You might have to do an 80's trifecta 'cause how can you pick a single movie lol Say Anything The Princess Bride Top Gun Lethal Weapon The Terminator The Outsiders Big Trouble in Little China Willow

Ronny Boss

As an 80s kid I have to vote that decade. Might I suggest Enemy Mine, Young Einstein, Short Circuit, or Dragonslayer. All classic 80s films. Oh and Cacoon that's it I'm done....and The Last Starfighter. Sry for so many suggestions

sarCC

Definitely the 1990s, especially since 1999 is well-regarded as one of the very best years for movies all by itself.

FranciscoGios

This Poll is hard because I have many favorites from every decade. Giving that lets start the year I started watching films watch Apocalypse Now, Christopher Reeve's Superman, The Breakfast Club, Robocop just to name a few.

How do you pick? If I think about my Top 25 movies they are so spread out. My favorite decade of music would be much easier. 80s all the way, then the 70s.

James Hadden

I genuinely don’t think I can pick a favourite decade as each one has a lot of truly great movies. For the purpose of the poll though I went with 80s. It’s as much a nostalgia for the feel of 80s movies as it is for the specific movies themselves. Favourites of mine would be: Indiana Jones The Karate Kid The Last Starfighter (not sure how this is received by new viewers nowadays) The Terminator The Goonies Flight of the Navigator Aliens Top Gun Inner Space The Lost Boys Die Hard The Abyss (one of my favourite movies of all time) I’ve had to leave out quite a few others as this list is too long already

James Hadden

Looking through my collection, ‘99 does indeed have a handful of excellent movies

Noah Vogt

I voted 80's. When thinking of my top 5 favorite movies, none of them are from the 80's. However, I believe there is far more entertainment value overall in the 80's film library. It was such a unique decade. I don't think a majority of films would feel as fun or special had they been made in any other decade. Several suggestions below (sorry!) Back to School The Goonies Revenge of the Nerds Robocop Back to the Future Just One of the Guys Big Trouble in Little China Terminator The Breakfast Club The Karate Kid Footloose Teen Wolf The Princess Bride Steel Magnolias Fast Times at Ridegmont High The Fly Ruthless People Real Genius Crocodile Dundee Legend of Billie Jean Police Academy Beverly Hills Cop Who Framed Roger Rabbit Masters of the Universe (A guilty pleasure) Beetlejuice Roadhouse Willow Weird Science The Young Guns Twins Mr. Mom Dream Team

i voted 80s cause its in the middle films from the 40s till 2000s are all great but now they are just hummmmmmmmmmm yeah just take a look at disney and others that are killing off films by remakes and woke shit

The 80s and 90s both have fantastic movies, but I voted for the pre-1980 era since it's so often overlooked. There are just so many amazing stars, directors, and films from this era. Just a few examples: City Lights (1930s, Chaplin's most beloved film) Only Angels Have Wings (1930s Top Gun, but much better) Casablanca (40s, peak Golden Age Hollywood) Singin' in the Rain (50s, most entertaining movie ever?) The Big Heat (50s, film noir Lethal Weapon) The Hustler (60s, kicks off Paul Newman's amazing run) 2001: A Space Odyssey (60s, many critics' #1 choice, still amazing) The Godfather (70s, public's choice as best ever?) Barry Lyndon (70s, most beautifully shot film ever?) I understand why most chose the 80s and 90s, but it would be nice to throw in some pre-Star Wars stuff from time to time. Gives a well-rounded perspective on how the medium has evolved.

Haha no, that's great! We love getting suggestions!

MaplenutsReact

Haha I figured it might be a little tricky to pick one decade.

MaplenutsReact

We really appreciate all of these recommendations!! Thank you!

MaplenutsReact

It seems like the 80's had a lot of original ideas for movies, which has been really fun to watch!

MaplenutsReact

Oooo I love this! So many movies that I've either never heard of, or that I know are incredibly famous! Thank you for the suggestions!!

Noah Vogt

Kudos for Flight of the Navigator and Inner Space. Terrific suggestions!

Noah Vogt

Lol you're welcome. Again sorry for throwing so many at y'all. But while I'm at it, might as add one more. Rain Man.

JM63

I really want to watch Masters of the Universe. The trailer is... amazing!

James Hadden

I’m ashamed to say I’ve only seen one of these - Casablanca. I loved it and it was great to finally hear all of the lines I knew growing up (surely must be the most quoted movie of all time based on number of different lines). I’ve seen parts of Singin’ In The Rain which were so good, I really should sit down to watch it properly

scott osborne

maybe i should of left a list of films too now i think of it no one ever thinks of british films to react to its very rear indeed so here is my list with 10 war films The Eagle Has Landed 1976 The Bridge Too Far 1977 The Longest Day 1962 (D-day landings) Hope and Glory 1987 (based on a family in london during the blitz) The Dam Busters 1955 The Battle of Britain 1969 Sink the Bismarck! 1960 The Bridge over the River Kwai 1957 Where Eagles Dare 1968 Lawrence of Arabia 1962 ( set in ww1 )

JM63

No need for shame :) You're lucky to be able to explore them for the first time. I definitely don't agree with Letterboxd ratings 100%, but it's a good place to start filtering by decade. (Many good lists on LB, too.) Yes, Casablanca is awesome! (Its influence is everywhere.) And Singin' in the Rain is crazy, def worth a watch.

MaplenutsReact

Hahaha, don't be sorry! Honestly, so many of these movies I've never even heard of, so it's super helpful! ❤️

MaplenutsReact

Amazing, thank you so much for all of these!! I must admit, we haven't watched any war films really, so this is very helpful!

scott osborne

glad to help out and war films are over looked everyone is into more modern stuff and have no idea war films are even around

MaplenutsReact

Ooooo I've definitely heard of a few of these ones!! Thank you for all of these recommendations!
