Daily reminder that age of consent doesn't mean an adult can be with that person... It just simply means that people of that specific age can't get arrested for being with eachother. It is very much illegal for an adult to be with a teenager. Its a chargeable offense if it can be proven that the older person has been targeting that "concenting adult" before they hit "legal age". We've gotten so in the weeds about what makes someone a pedophile as a society that we kinda collectively distracted ourselves from the fact that age of concent isn't a green light in general...

Some additional information: - while Japan does have a lowered age of consent, most prefectures also have local age of consent laws that increase the minimum age, usually to something more in line with the United States (16-18). They also have a tiered system by which you will be punished if you get involved with someone who is a teenager, even if they are the legal age of consent, if you are not a teenager or even just an older teen. Punishments range from fines to jail time (they also punish men more severly for offending). The people who try to use Japan's lower age of consent as an excuse for sexualizing minors generally don't know this. That is, of course, their own fault. - Japan is about the size of entire East Coast of the United States

In my eyes, I thought the whole point of having Rebecca dress like that was because Doflamingo is a cruel, evil, and slimy villain. She was one of the last remaining people directly connected to the royal family of Dressrosa and I thought it was just a way to humiliate her further before she died violently in the arena. But instead, she survived. For a long ass time. Literally, as soon as Doffy was beaten she was wearing normal clothes again. She appears during the Reverie alongside Vivi NOW.... That's why I'm opposed to the idea of raising the age of consent to 21 - 25 years. It's the grown adults going after teens that are the problem, not the age of consent (although some are indeed still low).
