So, you might have done better to search how eunuchs were made in China. It said they usually cut off both the penis and removed the testicles at the same time. Unfortunately, these articles don't tell you how they urinated afterwards. I'm guessing they didn't have the ability to reroute the urethra back then. However, I did discover that only one in three survived the procedure, ultimately.

I have noticed that even those, like the Emperor, who in theory have ultimate power, can't always do what they want. They have to navigate politics and feelings, they would find criticism, damage to their reputations, resentment, etc., leading to problems in the future. It explains why the Emperor can't just ignore Shishou or Lakan, why Jinshi can't fire Lishu's ladies-in-waiting, or interfere in the internal running of a high-ranking concubine's pavilion. Even Lihua needed an excuse to get rid of her cousin. There might be considerations regarding the family back home, and possibly the entire family would lose face. It might be thought of as a scandal. ......... I think Jinshi acted the way he did at Gyoukuyou's pavilion towards Maomao (btw, he used her name), because he's frustrated and a little angry with Maomao, so he wanted to get back at her. ....... If Jinshi closed his lips before the impending kiss, couldn't it just mean he was going to give a closed-lips kiss, which would literally be less invasive? Whatever the intentions of the author narratively to not carry this through, and it would make sense if it were for the reasons you mentioned, it might not have been what the character intended. But we'll never know what he was thinking, or what the outcome would have been. I often wonder if a character who lived a different life in a different environment would really be thinking the same thing we would. Both for Jinshi and Maomao in this case. We have to base their reactions on their character and what their society thought, not ours. But the author was a modern-day Japanese writer, so that too would inform what the characters would think. ....... Maomao does have a fantastic ability to suppress thoughts about things she doesn't want to know about. At the same time, she sometimes reacts impulsively to her thoughts, if her curiosity is piqued too strongly, or her sense of justice is offended too strongly. .......

It's funny how the two main characters, Maomao and Jinshi, are pretty loved by the people who know and understand them, have a certain "image" for those who aren't close to them, but both are terifying when pissed off. But we haven't seen a Jinshi as pissed off as Maomao was when the slap happen... yet. Being with Maomao tend to let his real "him" slip under his mask, so the real Jinshi is more and more obvious, just like he said "this Maomao" lol. The funny thing now that I think of it, Loulan/Shisui, is in the same position, she might be more herself with Maomao than posing as a concubine. Shisui vs Jinshi to have Maomao all for themselves when lol.

Ah yeah, bring on the hour long reactions! Lots of ragest this reaction, understandable, you are so right about our two must protect characters crying in the same episode, unacceptable, the perpetrators of this must be brought to justice! Good thing you watched the next episode after, the wait between the episodes releasing was brutal lol.

MaiSan

yea, Suirei looks way different than her court lady look, its as if she is wearing a disguise or something 🤭

If they continue adapting the story as well as they have done for the first two seasons, you will get more Lishu.
