I literally know a Japanese trans guy, Japan just isn't progressive about this stuff so trans people are largely invisible there. Doesn't mean they don't exist, and there are plenty of canonical trans characters in shonen already (look at hxh, one piece, skip and loafer). Considering how so many of JJK's values are largely non-conformist, anti-conservative (and this is a character that was suspended due to clashing with said conservatives) I think more evidence suggests they transitioned than not (plus there's the volume extra showing they had a SIGNIFICANT image change after leaving the school)

Sorry to break your image of Japan but I think I know better than you since I am Japanese. We have our terms to call people who like to act or be opposite sex. Transgender is the word American made up and we don’t use that here. All of examples you just mentioned are not cannon. Then why authors don’t deny the claim? They know ppl would make a fuss over it if they did. It’s a smart choice to be silent about the matter. I am sick and tired of seeing western ppl make everything about political it’s utterly stupid.
