Dark shows get aimed at young kids. After all, jjk is a shonen. For young boys, by definition. I don't think Japanese audience worries about dark themes in kids programming as much. But it doesn't seem their show is like medika majika. More like "dark for it's age range". Like avatar in western shows.

production wise this is probably best romance series in this season for sure. I'm a manga reader and from now on, things will only get better.

A little Japanese culture. Japanese use the 24 hour system. But they use the so called 30hour system to indicate day overlapping activities. Like trains run from 23:00 to 25:00 which is 01:00. For more adult anime they are aired around midnight so here the gag is that this show is dark and should be aired at or around 24:00. But is aired at 10:00 in the morning. So 24+10 equals 34:00.
