The woman assassin hasn’t seen Asa in years not because the woman left the village years ago, but because Asa left the village when she was a little girl. Also “controlling the underworld” could very well be the village objective and not a personal objective of the assassins. Also the people “who live the village for work and never come back” are not people who run away from the village, since they announce to Yuru that they are leaving to work. If they were running away they would do so in secret.

Also in this episode Dera basically confirms the village was indeed sending assassins to kill Asa.

as i said in this reaction, the village definitely CAN be sending assassins, but I also don't think it's impossible that some of the assassins going for Asa are other outsiders who happen to be in the know or have found out/defected from whatever group they were maybe a part of, and want the power for themselves.
