Good to see i wasn't alone in the "they're just dragging it now" sentiment. We had all that payoff just to still be let down. It came off as bad/redundant writing, and i rarely get that feeling from any show even if its bad. After dude got denied entry again i just kind of sank into my chair for the whole episode annoyed as shit. If it wasn't for Julius comedy and teaching at the end i would've came out of this episode purely annoyed.

My main issue is not that he was denied access, it would have been interesting to see the 'waste' on the first floor bond with them even find better circles. Explore the lore, maybe bypass the color as he is anyway hinted to be a complete disruptor of the current. Now it's just again a test and you know it, they will find another way to screw him, like a nullification spell that removes little bit of magic. Maybe they don't want the 'they skipped this very important part of the source material' comments. But even then it would be bad writing.
