4/4 Here we are, the finally!

Going through the post watch review of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I made myself chuckle and it really does make this game sound outrageous and I love it.

You can find this fine selection of words at 02:23:31

“A geezer with a sword, a bloke with a f**king gun for an arm, a girl with a wand and a character with massive tits and her fists. Oh, don’t forget Parsley the Lion. I got to admit, I loves me that Parsley the Lion, he was bad arse that little Charmander Lion Scar rip-off mix-up!”

I think this is my best quote to sum up Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I wonder what I’ll say about the next game?

We have been utterly spoilt with this game when it comes to the cutscenes. You don’t realise it until you start comparing it to other games which now I have. I can’t help it! It’s a new quality control check… Is it as good as Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

I’ve mentioned it in previous parts but this final video aka The End has given me the decision I’ve been looking for. Final Fantasy 7 could have been my favourite game and franchise of all time. I robbed myself of this experience when I was younger because I was a stubborn fool.

So, from now on, if there’s a game, TV show or movie, shit maybe even a book. I need to say YES, a lot more to giving something different ago. I hope you join me with this.

Is there a genre of game that’s always looked interesting to you? Perhaps a movie, TV show, Anime even but you’ve always said, nope… “not my thing”. Remember it’s never too late to give something different a tickle.

It doesn’t have to be consumable media either; I did Rock Climbing this week or Wall Climbing whatever it’s called. I have never been interested but the opportunity presented itself to me and even when I’m standing there with all the gear on, I’m thinking what the f**k am I doing here. You know what, it was awesome! I shit myself granted but would I go again, oh heck yeah!

Anyways, random tangent but hopefully you know what I mean so yeah, let’s be better together!

Conclusion, this game bloody rocks but you already knew that. Where do I go next guys!? Is it an FF movie or is it literally FF7: Whatever the next game is called.

Play The Tape!

Kai

P.S. My arms still ache from the Wall Climbing!

If you're doing Rebirth soon I'd recommend a video that shows a tad more gameplay. The boss fights are epic and filled with little cinematics and this playthrough cuts eall of that out... You really lose something imo. Same with FF16, the boss fights are the abolute highlight of that game so important that you get to see them. I would avoid Crisis Core (Prequel) and Advent Children (FF7 sequel movie) until after the third chapter of this remake trilogy comes out - as it will ruin a lot of things that have yet to happen/be revealed. Rebirth is where you should go next.

On to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth!!! Which in my opinion I think is a masterpiece and it’s looks just as good if not better than remake. If you decide to watch the cutscenes for it, the story of FF7 is going to make so much more sense and you’re going to understand even more why people love these characters so much!!! I hope you enjoy the next part of this FF7 remake trilogy!!!!

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

Can you recommend a video for me to watch? Something that has some gameplay in. Otherwise I'll be heading over to Gamer's Little Playground as they do include gameplay.

Roy Corvette

I think the best way to go would be to watch Rebirth after this one so that if you plan to delve into any more Final Fantasy you won't get all mixed up with names and lore. Would love to see you head toward FF16 after Rebirth though since if there's any game in the franchise that looks as good as 7 Remake, its 16. In my opinion, even though I prefer 7 overall, the presentation of 16 blows 7 Remake totally out of the water. It has some of the best action set pieces I have EVER seen in gaming and just about the only game comparable to Asura's Wrath in it's scale and grandeur, not to mention how beautifully directed so many of the cutscenes are throughout. As others have said you should avoid Crisis Core and Advent Children until after Part 3 of the Remake trilogy has been released and you've seen it, otherwise you'll get spoiled on major story beats. What I haven't seen anyone mention is you should watch the INTERmission DLC for this game before jumping into Rebirth so you can get a proper introduction to a certain character. So happy that you've ended up loving this game as much as you have, I was so sure that you would! Can't wait for you to see the rest of the story and for you to experience other FF games in the future. <3

Chris.N7

GLP seems fine from a quick skim over it, much more included there than what was included in this one.

Congrats on finishing this. FF7 Rebirth here we go. Though in regards to some of your closing comments. Yes this game is meant for cold callers but people who have played the original have a bit more to go on when it comes to theory crafting. Because the way this game is structured is that it doesn't follow the original game 1 to 1. And this was a bit of contention by the fans before the game came out. Some people wanted a 1 to 1 adaptation but just with better graphics while others wanted them to make changes. (I am in the camp of people who wanted them go to wild and have fun. The original game is available on pretty much every console and if I wanted to play the original again I can just do that) You can basically say the whispers are the part of the community who wanted all the events to play out as they did in the original. But when it comes to the videos you watched there are a few key parts they left out. I won't spoil any upcoming story bits just some differences to the parts you have seen and parts left out by the videos you watched. (In no particular order) -In the original game when the group makes it to the Shinra president's office, he is already impaled by Sephirot's sword. (Additional note. Until that point Sephirot has made no appearance in the game so far) - The original game comes on 3 CDs. The whole Midgar part is on CD 1 and is around 6 hours long. The remake 20+. So yes there there was a lot of new stuff. -The whispers are not part of the original story. -The ending sequences shows 2 different time lines going. The potato chip bag that featured a dog is Stamp. Which you see around a bunch during the gameplay segments. The dog design on the chip bag is different from the one you see during the previous parts of the game. -Zack originally dies during his last stand fight against the soldiers. -Biggs Wedge and Jessie all die during the events on the pillar. So Biggs being seen alive is another change. So the implication here for people who have played the original is that the moment the group finishes the big whisper monster and causes the explosion the timeline splits and the story from here on isn't bound anymore to the original path of the original game. Hence in the end you have the text "The unknown journey continues" Because even for people who played FF7 would now have no idea what exactly is gonna happen from here on. I am sure other people have other stuff to add but I don't wanna give more info cause others I feel might go into too much spoiler territory. Nonetheless really looking forward to you checking out FF7: Rebirth

Chris.N7

Also this doesn't include the Intergrade DLC, which introduces a major character for Rebirth.

Chris.N7

Some pretty big spoilers in this comment.

Ducard

Now don´t you dare let us wait too long for Rebirth. There is a a bikini beach scene with Tifa coming for you. ;-D

Jonas B

Long story short - this is NOT a remake of Final Fantasy 7. It's an alternative universe sequel and the last sections of this game tell it straight to your face. The whispers are quite literally trying to ensure that the plot follows the original FF7 and the party just defeated them allowing Rebirth to basically do whatever with the original story with no consideration to what once was. If things are confusing or don't make sense it's not really because they're saving the reveals for later, it's because the devs already expect you to know how the story of 7 goes and how they are purposely changing it and rubbing it in your face. Oh and the reason the camera shows you the trash with the dog at the end of the Zack section? It's to show that the timeline split yet again, as it's a different dog than what you saw throughout the entire game. If I'm not mistaken there's at least 3 timelines running in parellel by the time the credits roll here. Have fun lol

HilleriX

I'm surprised how little people are mentioning the DLC of this game: Intermission. It does introduce a new character that will also take part in the next game, so if you're thinking what would be next, it would be the DLC and then FF7 Rebirth. The DLC cutscenes take about 1-2 hours depending on who's video you would decide to cover.

james j

Make sure you react to the Intermission DLC before you begin Rebirth.

gaMerfUll

Many people already saying this. But yes, the Remake series is a sequel to the OG FF7. Some time loop fuckery. Through you I experienced what new people with no knowledge of FF7 feel about that ending. A lot of WTFs. It does all make sense, as ridiculous as it is. Unfortunately, this video left you with no clue how this game plays. OG FF7 was turn based. The Remake series are action games. With some tactical aspects where you can slow time to like .15x, where you can use skills and spell. WICH you can just put in shortcuts so you only have to press a button during gameplay. Would be interesting to see you react to this section of FF7Remake in the OG, wich lasts like 3 or 5 hours. So you can see how some of this story is told in them old polys. And yes, even if them GLP people... you should watch Rebirth with some gameplay. Always knowing that these games play and look really good in the hands of actual gamers.

Before you get to rebirth, you gotta see FF7 intergrade, which is DLC that takes place during the events of the main story. And FF7 crisis core, which is a prequel to the events of the main story of FF7. Explains alot of things such as sephiroths origin and other characters. Then do Rebirth last

Maxwell

Please be sure to check out intergrade before moving on the rebirth.

Fsaitza

Hey Kai so a few data about what you just saw. So yeah there were some changes between the original story of FF7 and this one and one of the most vital and key ones is that the whispers never existed in the original one, and there is a strong reason for why they exist in this one. And for you to understand better I strongly reccomend you to first see the DLC called Intergrade, and then watching FF7 Crisis Core Reunion, which is a prequel where you will follow Zack's footsteps and how he meets Cloud, Sephiroth and all sorts of characters already known to you and some new ones, and most importantly the ending of that game will leave you with your mouth open and is canon for the storyline, which will answer some of your questions about this one. You should really check it out is a must watch

Objectively Aj

If you're looking for a one with gameplay Yic17 Studio on YouTube is pretty good. Anyway, the next game is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth but before you do that there is DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Remake call Intergrade that follows a character that shows up in Rebirth. For the Intergrade DLC it seems Gamer's Little Playground is only one that has it as a separate video. It's about an hour long so you should be able to do it pretty quickly After that I recommend Yic17 Studio's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth video.

Kai thanks a lot for your reaction! :) Surprisingly, but I actually had quite opposite reaction from this game in my playthrough (I haven't played original, but in general I like eastern games and storytelling). While world building is quite interesting, as well as the game itself, but I haven't felt any connection with either of the characters. Mb except minor with Jessie and a little bit with Cloud, but only in the final act. And because of it, it was pretty hard to engage with this game and often get bored :( What I can't say about the second game. There they build up quite a lot on the characters and the story, so looking forward for your reaction to this :)

Can't wait to see your thoughts on Rebirth. It's been really nice hearing your thoughts on Remake, it's made me appreciate some scenes even more. To go with some of your comments at the end, I do think in some cases the change in quality for the cutscenes can be jarring for sure, mostly because the models look so, so different from the actual models in the face. Aside from the very last one, that was the closest looking one. Despite what many comments are saying, watching Crisis Core, or even the movie next, would spoil many things. BIG spoiler in the movie. So just keep that in mind when making your decision. I hope you do the next video for this series soon, because leaving you stranded with questions isn't very fun. (And honestly I don't know how you'd be able to!) And I really liked the reminder in the description to try things you wouldn't normally try. It's easy to stick to only what you know, and not venture out. Thanks as always!

decoyw

Hi Kai, I subscribed to your Patreon purely for this content. I hope you will do Rebirth as soon as possible, I can't wait to see your thoughts on the continuation of the story!

Tor Gundal

I would just say, go straight into Rebirth. You dont need the other stuff.

NeoK K

Can't wait for Rebirth! (pls dont watch crisis core before finishing ff7🙏)

Rena Unnie

Thanks for the reaction! Are you going to check the dlc? :D and I hope to see Rebirth! I better finish the rest of Rebirth too, it's been years and I gotta go back to this.

nickwatic

I hope you can find videos that show even a bit of the combat for Intergrade + Rebirth

Horfang

Just to clarify, this version of FF7 is a trilogy: FF7 Remake, FF7 Rebirth, and a third part coming soon. It's also worth mentioning that there was the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie release in 2005. Some of the music and character designs come from it. It was a sequel to the original FF7 game. Considered by many at the time to be the best animated film that could be made from a technical point of view. I'm all for recommending it, but not before finishing the entire story, meaning all three games, including the upcoming one, to avoid any spoilers. There will always be someone to find something to criticize, and unfortunately, I'm one of them. But I still wanted to say well done on your comment. You managed to explain everything that's important without any spoilers or giving away too many details. It couldn't be better. Congratulations!

SattyV

Man, Remake is beautiful - Rebirth will amaze you even more (I know, hard to believe but I guarantee it). I can't wait to see you cover it. I love rewatching the cutscenes of games i've played along with your commentary through a filmmakers lens

G Lord Robinson

Hey Kai I’m glad you enjoyed da game man it’s one of my favorites to this day. The story is definitely gonna get more insane prepare yourself for that FF7 Rebirth. FF16 is gonna be quite the journey for ya as well, it has a little bit of a bloat problem imo but when it’s good it’s absolutely beautiful I think you’ll enjoy the themes and ideas it tackles. I wanted to suggest to ya if you’re interesting in tackling a little more sonic stuff there is a 3-4 part animation prequel for the game shadow generations. It’s anime inspired it’s very cool scenes. There’s also a little short for knuckles as well that was done for Sonic Frontiers. Just some suggestions, much love to ya sir 🙌‼️

G Lord Robinson

Also the FF7 movies have spoilers I’d recommend finishing the remake series

Dontosh

Lovely stuff man! I highly recommend just going straight into Rebirth, especially since you now have Remake fresh in you memory :) And also the movie has major spoilers.

So when you asked what the 'glimpses' were at the end, they're cutscenes from the original game. The whispers were not in the original. They're trying to push the characters onto the original storyline. By slaying the harbinger of fate, they've broken from the original game's timeline and are free to do whatever they want going forward. The content of Remake takes the first 3-5 hours of the original game, greatly expanded on and now changing things. Rebirth continues from there until the end about the halfway point of the original. Rebirth is also something like 3x as long as Remake was. Remake was ~30 hours to complete everything, Rebirth was something like ~120 due to all the side quest padding. Edit: The cat was a character from the original. Just a tease of him in Remake.
