My first ever Resident Evil game is now finished and I am not disappointed!

What does this now mean....? It means we've got 8 games to now check out on the channel which is absolutely awesome but also, kind of intimidating.

Part two of RE Requiem had me laughing, had me quaking, had me confused and had my mouth resemble an open dog flap many a time. It had it all and that's just one of the reasons I had so much fun covering this game with you guys.

I will also say that this game isn't perfect and I do pull it up a few times like a cat claw on your favourite sweatshirt but I'll be honest, it isn't the end of the world.

I know full well you would have loved playing this game but it's important to still talk about it and why some of you may have been pulled out of the experience during these spots.

Raccoon City, here we come!

Perfect timing as I just finished the game an hour ago. If you want more Leon definitely check out RE2 & 4. And there have been giant spiders in Resident Evil since the first game. Everything in RE is mutated, even the zombies (they're not undead, just people mutated by a virus). Umbrella basically wants to create bioweapon super soldiers but ends up unleashing man made horrors upon the world instead.

The only thing that pulled me out of the experience was the bike sequence with Leon. Shortly after that i decided he is 80s action hero and it made it ok.

JustUman

covering resident evil 7 and 8 is also a good choice as it’s somewhat separate of the rest of the games. they’re both first person games fyi

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

I totally get that but we shouldn't have to change our way of thinking to enjoy something. It shouldn't exist so to speak. I do that too sometimes, look at it as something else and it doesn't matter anymore and I firmly believe the game developers hope you also do it. Leon was such an 80s/90s super cop hero type and it just worked. Love it.

Buried0

though i don't know how they would work filmmaking wise if its all just first person. might be better to check the other games instead

furby

Ooh yes finally! I have my snacks ready for this!

Buried0

kai would react to a roblox game cinematic and would still accidentally call it a film😭😭

gaMerfUll

Once you watch what Leon does in RE4 OG or Remake and RE6. That bike sequence will be super normal. If anything, is tame in comparison to anything that happens in 6.

Buried0

there is no resident evil 6🙂

Chris.N7

Also the guy does go hide in the steam and hunt you down in it after he bursts the tank open, this guy is just playing on baby mode so he never got the chance. Also if the zombies went down in one headshot there wouldn't be much of a challenge or any tension. Canonically they will die in a headshot in cutscenes etc. but there's a separation between cutscenes and gameplay. Grace isn't a cure, there's nothing special about her. They just assumed there was based on Spencers notes. She's a regular human.

First of all, this game is awesome and it was super fun watching your reaction to the cutscenes so far, wanna get that out before I rant because I don't really wanna spread negativity first and foremost when its not your fault what GLP is doing. That being said, I've got to get the following off my chest: I sure was prepared to cringe after seeing GLP getting bitten absolutely every time they could in the first part, but man, I'm really struggling to keep my sanity this time. Requiem was my first RE game and I sure as hell got hit a bunch of times and died, but they play like its their first time playing ANY game, which shouldn't be the case given the nature of their channel. And I'm not saying that just because of their aiming or mechanical skill, but because they clearly don't think about what they're actually doing, the refusal to develop an understanding of how the game works, EVEN THOUGH you can tell they've definetly played a lot of the sequences and fights before by the way they clearly know things happen or walls open before they actually do. I wanted to scream seeing the way they refused to come up with an actual strategy against the last special unit with the shield and just shot at it head-on. You can just feel the way the person playing just wants to get it over with somehow, and thats really bothering me.. okay, that's all.

Your complaints about the Orphanage section are pretty spot on, imo it was the lowest part while playing it, especially that hallway bit with the girls just standing there. Also if you do more of these in the future but want more of Leon's story then it would be RE 2, 4, and 6. There are also the animated films; Vendetta, Degeneration, Damnation, and Death Island.

Buried0

well said brother😂

Tristynn

Goodness gracious this is some of GLP's worst gameplay I've seen 😭 the Hunk boss (the axe wielding soldier with the gas mask near the end) was painful to watch 😬

Fsaitza

Hey Kai so a couple of things you might want to know before jumping into resident evil again. I reccomend you going for Resident Evil 2 remake after this and not the first one, mainly because thats the critical point that is referred the most in the saga, the Raccoon City incident, and you will get to see Leon and some others along the way and then going up in the numbers. Also, for Resident Evil 2 there is a catch. You can play 2 routes with two different characters, one of them being Leon and the other one a character you will know soon, and it doesnt work like here where you switch from Leon to Grace and viceversa. In RE 2 you play as that character for the rest of the game, so make sure youre watching the Leon route, which I guess is the one you wanna really see. Both of those characters have similar paths and events happening to them, with some differences but mainly is almost the same Oh and about the mutated spiders and plants, yeah we had some of those in other Resident Evil games. You kind of get used to those things in this saga

Buried0

But sherry is introduced in the other character's story so i don't know if he should skip it all

Fsaitza

I mean I didnt say to skip it, but the impact of the story and cutscenes could wear down after a second watch, so at least with Leon I think he is worth for the first watch

DeathXWarfare

let's gooo!! I've been waiting for this one Kai

Toxilex

Starting the RE franchise with this game might not have been optimal, considering the amount of callbacks and fan service in this one. Also Resident Evil is infamous for its weird writing and plot holes, as a long-time fan, it's become something to expect in every new game, but we kind of love it. The devs really embrace that "video game logic" which is why these games are so delightful and fun; just pure aura and one-liners with a little drama, and that's resident evil for ya

Dylan

stick it in him now! i mean... let him have it! i mean... give it to him! lol

KotaVee

I had posted the stuff about my tattoos before knowing the Lickers were in the game. I was not expecting them to be in RE9 and I was so happy when I saw them! 😅 With the giant spider, Resident Evil has done giant animals and bugs quite a few times in the past so when I was playing it I didn't even question if it fit in the world or not. I gotta say though with the complaints and as much hate that Gamers Little Playground videos get, the gameplay really isn't that bad. Yeah they don't play like people who have played the game multiple times before, but it's no worse than watching most other people play a game for the first time. One thing GLP videos usually do MUCH better than a lot of the other game movies is showing bits of gameplay to lead the story from one cutscene to the next to show how things get from one place to another. It's much more entertaining getting a quick laugh at not perfect gameplay and getting the story beats outside of cutscenes than being confused when things jump ahead hours into the game because there were no proper cutscenes. 🤷‍♂️

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

I don't mind GLP, the reason being is they actually include gameplay. It's become a thing now for me to moan at them but that's also the charm of the video. That brother who annoys you so you have to say something with a quick slap.

The main thing with revisiting the RE series is that the direction of the game changed quite a bit with the times. I would say they were the first to popularize the survival horror puzzle genre. Then as more and more games got made, there was a major design change with RE5. In early 2000s, action games outsold survival horror. So Capcom decided to pivot the style to action block buster third person shooter. The entire dynamic of the game changed. RE5 sold very well, so RE6 was made with even more action than horror (essentially going full Michael Bay superhero), which did not play well to critics or fans. Then due to the popularity of indie survival horror titles that filled the void and a certain Alien survival horror game, Capcom went back to survival horror with RE7, but this time in a new setting entirely. Essentially abandoning the plot after they went too far with RE6. RE8 followed suit. It is with RE9, they finally went back to the mainline story. So when reviewing the series, it is common to feel very ajar when transitioning from RE4 to 5 to 6 then back to 7.

Moe

I don't know why but GLP decided to replace a lot of the soundtrack audio in locations/battles with music from the original games, thats why the fight against the terminator-esque guy felt a little lacklustre - there was supposed to be other music over it. I will admit it was very nice to hear the Police Department theme again, it's a very nostalgic part of the series!

Keith Fenton

Can't wait for you to cover the rest of the series. I don't have much experience with the franchise either but I am thoroughly enjoying the watch alongside you:)

LimitlessEntertainment

The thing with gamers little playground is they are always playing on the easiest difficulty so those beats you are talking about are removed a lot of the time. Obviously the cutscenes are the same but for example, with the bossfight with the axe guy (Hunk), that battle lasts so much longer and he does try to disappear in the smoke and will pull out a gun to ambush you. You as a player decide whether he gets to run away and ambush you depending on your skill level. On casual difficulty it makes the bossfight feel super rushed and like the game is super fast paced all of the time. This bossfight is an absolute bitch on insanity but GLP is struggling to parry once and almost dying 20 times on the easiest difficulty.

LimitlessEntertainment

Its an option in the menus if you preordered. I do not understand why GLP decides for their game movie, they decide to represent the game this way. He even has the optional camos on two of the guns. Like why? For a first time viewing, it's best to play the game exactly how it's intended to be played, especially for a YT video trying to represent the game properly.

LimitlessEntertainment

Yeah the person playing is actually one of the worst I've seen lmao. It is just comical at this point, especially because EVERY GLP video is like this

Game4R Life

by the way at 12:40 they did exactly that it was just cut out

Isma

I am watching along my playthrough and keep getting spoiled by the teaser part at the start of the video damn it! Regarding the 1st part it d be worth finding full gameplay playthrough for this series the exploration through the environement is part of the story in my opinion. Cant wait to dive back in the other ones with you!

Feyd

What Buried0 said. I would recommend watching both, as there is enough deviation between the two stories to justify watching each direction. Plus you only get to see the full ending at the end of part B, so you'd need to watch a video that had both characters back to back to get the full game.

Feyd

Regarding the giant spider: With the amount of shit Leon's seen in the other games, I doubt literally anything would surprise him at this point.

Volfur

Fun fact, The spiders Intro scene is frame by frame identical as the spider intro from Lord Of The Rings Such a cool reference that sadly many don't notice

KingWCKD

Is that the Handlers voice actor from MH:World? (the one talking to Leon)
