We’re BACK!!!!

The funny thing is I had this video made a week ago but completely forgot about it due to going away, Easter holiday shenanigans and all the other content I’ve been capturing for you lovely lot! It wasn’t until yesterday; an awesome Patron member reminded me about it.

I was also getting part 2 ready for filming next week so eventually… I would have remembered!

As mentioned, we’re back to continue our FF7 journey and like normal… I’m confused! This game is a monster for baffling you. Just like Remake it gives you characters or chapters completely out of order. The wonder of “In Medias Res” and 9 times out of 10, I love stories told and delivered using this story structure. Also, to dive back in the past was a great way to continue the story after defeating what can only be described as a GOD. It also serves as another way of “soft resetting” character leads. Brilliant and I’m won over by this.

Regarding the story, I’m still under the illusion that there’s a parallel universe or dimension plus… I’ve got the feeling Cloud has had a personality transplant or is in and out of the other universe. Are they his memories and is he actually alive? I can’t put my finger on it but that’s the wonder of Final Fantasy 7.

I can’t believe this game; this story has come from one single OG PS title. Bonkers!

Kai

P.S. This could be the biggest game series we've ever covered... I'm all in if you are!?

I have been waiting for this day. Let's play the tape!

ItzzDibly V2

Take your time, I WILL be there🫡

Ruukasu97

awesome i was waiting for it, quick tip. look out for stamp the dog and his different breeds it means something and isnt random, in remake it was a beagle at 4:32 he was on screen

Ruukasu97

in the flashback clouds eyes where different, he didnt have the mako poisioning yet

Ruukasu97

im pretty sure this was captured on a ps5 thats why it looks so much worse somethimes, the remake video you watched was on pc

Ruukasu97

in the original you didnt see how the snake was impaled, so this game revealed that it was Sephiroth 27 years later

Ruukasu97

im pretty sure you can change the camera distance in the settings, but having it closer makes the game harder since you cant see as much

Bestgamer1

Great Video! If you wanna find out where Cloud has been the past five years, you gotta watch FF7 Crisis Core Reunion. There you will get your answers

Ducard

Keep in mind this game only covers like the first third to first half or second third of the OG. It is actually too long ago but some questions might not be answered and you already encountered the biggest problem of this remake. They over complexed the story to the point where it just gets too confusing (at least for me it was)

Chris.N7

I'll go against Bestgamer1's comment and say don't watch Crisis Core until the third part of this game is out and you've seen it. Since you're a cold caller there's things in that game you're not supposed to know yet. Unless you wanna be spoiled on the huge reveals coming in Pt3, then by all means go ahead. It is a prequel to FF7 but it released 10 years after the OG, imo it's intended to be experienced after experiencing the main story. Us OG FF7 have the same questions as you regarding the timeline, so we're all in the same boat. One popular theory is that this is actually a sequel to the OG game and Advent Children movie - but set during the events of the OG game. Living planet and ancient beings and all that jazz. Because if it was a straight up remake why wouldn't this be called Remake pt. 2? Remake was more of a reference to the plot rather than a description of the product imo. It still covers the events of the original pretty faithfully, but with a twist. In the OG game Sephiroth is actually barely present physically, you just follow in the wake of his desctruction and feel his presence. In this he's almost toying with Cloud directly. He only has like 30 mins of total screen time in the OG, but still managed to become one of the most iconic villains in pop culture/gaming. Also Tifa was like 15 in the flashback, that's why she's ... grown lol. If you had a closer camera on the snake boss fight you would probably get annoyed, because you couldn't see the attacks coming. When you're playing it you're focused on killing the thing, and you get those cool cinematic moments in the fight anyway.

I have been waiting for this to drop! Loved the reaction and such a great job catching things just with analysis that might mean something once you have a little more information/plot points! The game really did feel like a different game from FF7 Remake gameplay-wise, and your "red flag" for side content bloat, should we say, is literally one of the main complaints of this game for a LOT of players. You can rush the story and beat the game in about 30-40 hours (maybe faster if you really rush) like most RPG's, however I think my first playthrough of this was around 130 hours? There are a LOT of side quests/map exploration/general side content to do. So many things they did in this game were completely different than the original PS1 version, and it was really to de-establish everything players of even the original think we know. While we do know the answers to some of your questions, there are many more we have at this point in the story as well ourselves! P.S. no theories you could throw out about where this story is going would ever sound too mental. Truly can't wait to see your thoughts when various plot points get revealed!

Austin Ball

Great game. Loved watching your commentary on the first part, you’re really good at diagnosing the technicals in a scene. This game gets confusing, I agree with the comment above—they probably made it too complex. Keep in mind Cloud as an unreliable narrator, helps put some things into context. Excited for this!

Ended up disappointed in this game but looking forward to seeing an "outsider's" opinion on the game. Glad to see you confused. These games were made with fans in mind, those that know what happened in the OG and what is happening now. Sure, you can enjoy a convoluted story, but knowledge is what makes all these confusing moments into revelations or hype moments. And if that SINGLE side quests in this video had you waving that flag.... Just know that this video skipped possibly 3 hours of side content. 1 alone being side stories and the other 2 or heck... even 3 being stuff you do around the map. Side stories that has been called "too good to miss" so by the 40H mark, I had gotten tired and how it kept stopping me from going through the story. But I had to, because they were "very important". Remake and Rebirth are honestly better games when you go straight through the story and avoid side content in your second playthrough. It feels so liberating and the game flows very well. Hopefully this video doesn't show too many sidequest. So far they only showed a character specific one, for payoffs down the line.

Eli

I agree. Only watch Crisis Core if you want all the mystery and surprise spoiled for you. Wait till after Part 3.

Aerith is so evil lmfaoooo, "a date, kind of" I was outraged, AND NOW, she is mentionning that hand massage, I felt like a clown in front of Tifa ahaha, I'm a cloti shipper. that girl has a whole file on us as Cloud ;w; About the side content, it's probably why I took a break from the game, I felt like I had too much to do, and I wanted to do everything so I wouldn't miss anything, I thought the game (Rebirth) would reward me like in Remake. In Remake: - If you did well and all some contents, you could give to Aerith the best dress. - If u danced well with Andrea as cloud u could get the golden earpiece. - Did all the fight in the arena (and pick tail/head), you could get a better dress for Cloud. etc.. I felt overwhelmed even if the game (Rebirth) wasn't forcing me to do it as I wanted to give back the same Energy as I gave in Remake, but the side contents and mini-games are more condensed. I had a lol.

Elway Simpson

Really like this a lot, would HIGHLY recommend you dont watch Crisis Core stuff til either after Part 3 or if there's a way for you to watch/play OG FF7 first. The game assumes you know that whole story and spoils one of the bigger mysteries of the story. Surprised this playthrough your watching is showing side quests at all. While they do show some incredible character building and relationship building between Cloud and Co....it might make this series go on forever(again, totally fine with). Hope you have a blast

Rebirth had 8 'open world areas' with side quests. Each area was about 10 hours to fully clear. Most had relationship building quests with most of the cast. I had already invested something like 60 hours int he side quests before I just... got sick of it all. It's very, very repetitive in the side quests. Clearing it all requires triggering specific challenges and it's just so exhausting. The worst part was that it didn't need it. The story itself was already deeper than Remake was. Easily 20 hours of story, not even counting the gameplay of the story elements. Just padding for those people that love wandering around open worlds aimlessly for ages. I absolutely would love to see you finish the story. I'll be watching each episode as they release, for sure. Hell, the Final Fantasy Remake reactions was the main reason I joined here. Your predictions are interesting, but I won't vaguepost spoilers like I see at least one other reply doing. All I will say is that answers for most of your questions will come eventually. Some might not be fully answered until the in-so-far-still-unannounced 3rd part, though others would be known from the original game. Remember that in Remake, the crew broke free of Fate, and are now on their own path from the original game. There are many similarities in the story, but there are some big differences from the original. Finally, that Zack part at the beginning way confused the hell out of me when I first loaded this game up last year too. Love the reaction. Thanks for your time. Keep it up, Kai.

FF7 Crisis Core Reunion is just a remaster of a PSP game (hardly better than an HD version). However, your comment between 37:30 and 37:50 is incorrect, but you'll understand why later with the story and by seeing the scene in FF7 Crisis Core Reunion (don't do it, that would be a major spoiler, I can't say more). Great Video as always !

For what it's worth I enjoyed playing this game, though still the way the devs chose to handle the story really pissed me off as a fan of the original. Curious to see how a newcomer like yourself will feel about it though!

DefaultArk

They cut out the one of the best part of the game, where you raid Tifas "closet"

Void

They skipped the opening credits part, which bummed me out. The version of the main theme that plays over them is *chef’s kiss.*

Zero Blazer Gaming

If your worried about this game's length, your right to worry. Getting all the side material done during your first run through can take upwards of 100 hours, and that is doing everything you can do before the credits roll. And I never finished the post game, which include hard mode and the extra super boss fights.

Saj

In the FF7 world all electricity is powered by Mako (a green liquid) so you'll see green ambient lighting everywhere. It's the "branding" of the world.

Jess Landry

I'm not sure how the channel decided which scenes to include; acquiring a chocobo is necessary to progress but the flower crown side mission isn't. Hoping they dont do it with all of the side quests cause that will make much of it filler and you're gonna have like 20 parts lol

G Lord Robinson

This game and ff16 has a weeeeee bit of a bloat problem with the side quests I won’t lie. There are maybe a handful, maybe more that DO genuinely make you appreciate the characters and world they are beautifully done. But there a lot that are just bloat, mainly ff16 ngl but I do love both games a lot. They really are the new generation of games that you have to sit down and just invest yourself into these entire worlds that they’ve built for you, and with the modern capabilities of consoles they can be absolutely monolithic feeling at times it’s insane and glorious honestly. Like you said it’s something you have to go into wanting. It can slow down for a bit but when it hits hard it is HARD ASF Loving these reactions 🙌

scotty hale

Really have enjoyed for perspective with these videos might i suggest you check out all the synergy abilities and limit breaks for this game as well after it is all said and done really great stuff in my opinion

Hypnosimp

I do believe Cloud’s face model in the flashback is a different model to make him more baby faced. But yes confused and concussed you’re right there with Cloud xD Oh and the 2,000 being enough for “her standard course” Aerith was referencing the “hand job” Cloud got from Madam M. The massage lady. I feel like the video is editing out enough of the side quests that aren’t relevant, the flower crown side quest felt like padding because there’s only a small piece of information that will be relevant later on for context. I’m all in on this series so I don’t mind if they do include a few of the side quests that put a spotlight on the world building that will give better clarity and context to what the characters are dealing with (especially with Cloud)which will add so much more context to several key components to the emotional stakes of the story.

Agne's Arthouse

Hi! I started watching your videos on youtube and came here to become a patreon, because I really liked them! I am an old fan of all final fantasies, (played my first in 1998, when I was 12), nowadays my curiosity is to see how people who weren't FF fans see the new remake games and you did an amazing job here! Can't wait for more!

Selph

1:04:05 Hahahaha, what's wild is that the old game handled it better, it was more subtle. Between this and the meta storyline, newcomers really have to hang the fuck on just to understand what's going on. It's a shame.

nickwatic

how the hell did i miss this being uploaded

nickwatic

idk if its just me but is the audio like sort of muffled. not kais but the gameplay itself

Letgor55

FF7 CC is a bad quality PSP game you shouldn’t watch it for now. It will spoil the next part 3 of FF7 🙏🏻

Ben Scott-Pye

You can set the camera distance yourself, but the way the game plays it helps to have it pulled back to be able to keep track of where everything is and what's going on. Definitely looks less cool, but there's a lot happening all over the place when you've got lots of enemies and your other team members to keep track of.

Ben Scott-Pye

The original is much less confusing.
