SAROS - More like SORE ARSE after the spanking it game me!

Hopefully the FIRST of many Let’s Try videos - Today we’re playing PlayStations brand new game [Out Tomorrow] - Saros.

I knew nothing about this game and that’s exactly how I like it. No trailer, no synopsis… nothing! The only thing I knew about his game was you - [the player] is going to die a lot. The reason for that, it’s bloody hard.

In this video I cover the main intro to the game so don’t expect spoilers or anything like that. I spend most of the time when not fighting, showing you how cool characters and environments can look when moving the camera in a certain direction. Of course I discuss lighting, just how I like it but you will also witness a chap, [me - Kai] start to get that addiction that only these sorts of games can give you.

If you’d like me to continue this game, please let me know below. I’m thinking an All Cutscenes Video/s as I’d love to know what happens next in the story. BTW, the story is rather tasty and worked its dark ominous magic on me. You’ll love it!

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

If you're wondering why you may have received two notifications regarding this post, the first was a schedule issue and was a place holder. All sorted now! Enjoy the bottom smacking I receive!

Thank you for that. I saw the popup on my phone and went: "Didn't that just happen a little bit ago?" lol

Haven't started watching yet (going to shortly), but i started this game last night. I'm not a fan of rogue-likes, usually, but this game is a gem for the genre. It's difficult enough to feel rewarding but not so difficult to feel like it's impossibly hard to beat despite the lack of a difficulty setting. The game feels fluid even in the most intense of times. With only 90 minutes played, i give it a solid 7/10.

Ohh boy those games just vitalize my rage mode and put me into risk of having a heart attack and a stroke at the same time. /o\

Became available for me at 11pm central on the 27th in the US.

You know, it's funny - I've found the Sony first party output over the last few years to be incredibly disappointing as seemingly every major release they put out felt super generic and homogenized with that overly tested mass market appeal game/story design crap. (Referring to the fact how it all feels super safe and not taking any creative or artistic risks) This, on the other hand, actually looks unique and fresh in comparison, and I respect the crap out of it. ...and yet I have zero interest in actually playing it, which is a shame

Hey you dont do it as bad as you think. For being a first timer with these type of games you do it pretty well. I can see the Halo reflexes on it and you picked up things pretty fast. I would love a reaction to all cutscenes even more after seeing you play it just because you know how hard and rewarding the gameplay can be between the cutscenes themselves. And also I think that Ghost of Yotei notification was a sign to come back to it again

Zarosio

Ok, just looked it up. I bought the deluxe edition which gave me 48 hours of early access. Ok, makes way more sense now.

If i had known it was a rogue-like before picking it up, I'd have had no interest but i found that out after i had installed it and I'm happy to say I LOVE IT. Never thought I'd want to go back to play a rogue-like. Hades was fun but not compelling, Nightreign has the coop aspect, and most others are fairly generic, but Saros actually makes me want to keep playing.

I have played Returnal a few years back, so I did more or less know what this would be. Although I did actually like what I've played of Returnal in terms of the gameplay loop, it ultimately just made me feel like I'm not getting enough meaningfully unique content for me to keep going. The same kinda applies to any other rogue-like I've played (Including Hades for that matter lol.) Fun games, great gameplay loops, but ultimately really meaningless in my eyes. I know that's probably not a particularly popular opinion but oh well, time is precious, better spend it on the things we like. Glad you're enjoying Saros though! It does seem like it may be a bit more compelling in terms of the story than Returnal, though I really don't like making claims about something I have no experience with directly.

Yeah I mean it could be a main option and then jump again into the game and exploring the world and side quests and such. Maybe even try the cinematic filters like the Kurosawa style and such to give it a new visual aestethic. I think that was one of the coolest features of the game

The music and minigames were already present in the original FF7 from 1997. However, there are even more of them, and everything has been reworked while still retaining the feel of the original game. For example, Queen's Blade has changed the rules, but it remains a card game based on the placement of cards on the field and their value. Similarly, with music, every main character, location, and important event has its own musical theme. One of the most obvious examples is, of course, the chocobo theme, whose melody has been remixed in many different musical genres. Sometimes it doesn't seem to fit with the dialogue or the situation, like when the song of the Junnon's Parade starts playing in part 2 right after the cutscene when there's a rather serious dialogue. But it's something iconic of the Final Fantasy series. It sets the mood for the player, preparing them for what's to come, and it lasts for the duration of the song, whether it's 30 seconds or 1 hours of gameplay.

(Deleted my comment out of embarrassment) First things first, this game looks epic and I’m definitely sold on it as far as gameplay goes. Returnal was a favorite amongst my group of friends and I’m rather curious what more they could do with the formula. Secondly, I’d like to recommend a game to cover on the channel. The Order: 1886. It was a title released around the start of the PS4’s lifecycle and was basically a game developed to showcase the PS4’s graphical capabilities. I think it has great story and visuals that hold up to this day and I think you’d get something out of the game yourself just from a watch.

I don't watch brand new games but I hope its good and I hope you enjoy it!

I think a combo of All cutscenes and let's play videos would be a great way to take the channel forward. I enjoyed watching you take control of the camera and showing us the film making techniques yourself.
