Im not a god of war fan but this "God Of War Laufey" has got me hooked and i will be playing it on my PS5

I'm really torn on God of War. The game looks fun as hell but the dialogue feels ripped right out of Forspoken. "Phranque" gives me Claptrap vibes

I said the exact same thing to buddies while watchin the state of play on wolverine with the lighting. I said it looks fun don't get me wrong but it would've really benefited with a different lighting or color grading cause it almost feels like It's just a copy of Spider-Man game, but you play as wolverine and with a shit load of cartoon blood.

The Card

I agree with a lot of your comments! Wolverine, with that lighting, accentuates the blood bag explosions and to me almost makes it more comical or pure hack/slash...which I'm not sure Insomniac Games is going for. Honestly, everything shown was just so impressive, although Kemuri might be the one I'm most interested in playing for now (just based on aesthetic). I rarely make it all the way through horror games, so Silent Hill and ILL are games I'll probably just watch playthroughs of, even though they looked insanely good! God of War Laufey looked phenomenal personally, and I didn't mind the change-up...although Phranque (the cube) was a bit too odd for me. However, as you guessed, a decent amount of people seemed upset at the direction they went.

This State of Play got me very excited for Wolverine but it was amazing to see games I did not expect to see. Even the Hollywood Stuntman game was great to see and get into the most iconic movie scenes involving vehicles The God of War game looks like it is going to work as the bridge to connect many of the mythologies like mongolian and egyptian (big red guy is supposed to be Begtse the mongolian God of War and Sekhmet which is the egyptian God of War) Overall I felt it was good and lots of great announcements

Hey Kai so here are some curiosities about the new God of War. The place where Faye is now is where all gods go when they die, and it means ALL of them. And the characters you saw there like the big red dude and the lady with him are in fact 2 gods of war. They are Begtse, the mongolian god of war, and Sekhmet, the egyptian goddess of war. So now we are back to killing gods again, and without mythology restrictions in this place

God of War Laufey looks fantastic. There are a few additional videos on the Playstation YouTube channel that show the cast and an interview between the Head of Creative at Santa Monica (Cory Barlog) and the game director for Laufey. This game is not being treated as a short offshoot by the devs, so it would be fair to approach it like you would with either of the last two in the series. Ragnarok did a great job of building out the lore for Fey and how badass she really is, if you played through more of the side content. There is a reason Kratos respects her, so anyone who respects Kratos (the players) will be just as interested in exploring what happens.

Wolverine looks shit in my opinion. ILL takes the cake for me

Best way to tackle any mythology in a God of War game. I honestly didn't want them milk the cow with individual games set in different places because it would take years to do. I always thought some way to go through many mythologies in one game would be more interesting. And the afterlife of gods, or this sort of in between place is a good way to have everything, new and who knows, even old. So I love it. But of course, there'll be people with problems. I'm just happy the game feels clearly different. Back to the action mobility of the older games. Wich makes me think that if the GoW Remakes have this closer camera, then those games will be just fine. They clearly know how to animate and push the camera back when it's needed.

It's funny that the biggest surprise out of everything for me was Stuntman coming back! I have so many fond memories of playing it over and over again on the PS2! Almost all of them look like I will be buying them. Or at least the ones that come to PC. Which after the recent news of no more PC releases of PS exclusives this felt like I'm trying to be sold on a PS5 with how all of the release info only said PS5 even if it is going to release on PC or Xbox. ILL is still the top one I am looking forward to though! God of War I am torn between being excited and being cautious about. Most of it looks awesome and I want to know so much more about what's going on even if they go the route where Kratos takes a backseat. But the gelatinous cube pulls me out of it and just makes me think of DnD, the voice sounds very modern and feels very out of place, and just looks goofy bouncing around while fighting. I would be very disappointed if the cube is constantly around and fighting with you. Knowing now that Wolverine is going to be brutal and they didn't tone it down in the slightest has me even more pumped for it and I can not wait for the eventual showdown between Wolverine and Sabertooth! Plus him not seeming to know Jean and a couple shots looking like a younger Wolverine makes it seem like the origin story route that would be very interesting to see how they do it.

Definitely super excited for the new God of War. The lack of Kratos as a protagonist doesn't really shock me after the ending of Ragnarok where he got a proper send off. I am more surprised that Atreus isn't the protagonist. Which I am personally fine with because to me he was always one of the least interesting characters. So I am definitely hyped to get a game with Faye since she has been a big mystery since God of War (2018). What also has me excited is that the game is taking place in the realm where all gods go after they die. So there'll probably be some wild mythology cross overs.

HillBillyPhilly

Kratos always said that Faye was one of the best warriors he'd seen

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

I'm excited to play it. I personally would have liked a slightly different colour pallet and maybe dial the blood down by 30% so it doesn't look so cartoon like.

I LOVED God of War 2018 and a little less so for Ragnarok but what I saw here for really turned me off. I'm really sick of the AAA game trope of quirky constantly yapping companions - and here you have a sword and a giant jelly cube that both fill that role. I think the jelly cube especially really clashes tonally with God of War. I also don't like that 2 minutes after dying and Kratos/Atreus mourning her she's doing kick spin flips against giant plant monsters in the afterlife or whatever.

Chris.N7

The cube is on the box art. It's a full time companion.

Agreed on all accounts. The intro should've been a lot closer in pacing to 2018's. I will say I like the concept of her memory of Kratos watching over her, mirroring what he experienced.

Janne Tabell

As a huge god of war fan I absolutely loved the new game reveal! I think for me one of the best possible directions the IP should go is expand the scope to other characters than Kratos, because the world is so full of amazing opportunities! 😁

The Card

I wouldn't say I've seen much REALLY upset comments yet beyond "This isn't God of War to me" comments (which is completely valid imo) but I don't always go to the places most people would be complaining about it though. After watching the State of Play live last night, I flipped through several streams and there were definitely a couple of really big streamers pushing various stances for content. the game's trailer is sitting at 220k Likes to 104k dislikes right now on YT so there is definitely some varying opinions! Game still looks awesome to me though either way.

I am absolutely playing GOW Laufey when it comes out. I'm so intrigued by the mythological side and the concept of the Everywhen. So curious how it will tie into everything from the previous two games. Also, as a woman, seeing Faye's warrior side and her rage is amazing. If you've ever heard of the book series Throne of Glass, she gives major Aelin vibes.

The night is Dank and full of Memers

Agree on Wolverine, wish it was on PC where reshade could give you the color grading and darkness you want. It makes such a difference in Spider-Man on PC. I've recently been replaying the Batman Arkham games with the color grading from "The Batman" through reshade. + Using modded suits and batmobiles.

So God of War Laufey has been rumoured for a while now and anyone with at least one foot in reality knew we weren't getting a new mainline Kratos game. I've been playing God of War since the PS2 and can wholeheartedly say I lost my mind when they showed this I was so excited. This is a God of War that plays like a Devil May Cry and story wise it runs concurrent to the mainline story providing us with a new perspective on the story we know. Its been overwhelmingly well received aside from the few incels that pop up every time theres a female fronted game who's main character doesn't look like a fuck doll.
