Hey guys,

It's movie time again for me and over the last week or two, I've been asked about covering this movie.

A self funded, made by and directed by a YouTuber! Certainly sounds interesting and I believe it's let a lasting impression for quite a few viewers. I just hope it's because the story, the movie is good rather than viewers having a bias towards the content creator.

I want to hear from you though. Let me know with your vote.

Shall we Play The Tape!?

Ok Im going to be honest, the movie could have been a bit shorter on the end, but making you feel the way it wants you to feel using few resources, shooting in a closed environment, engaging with the character and learning the world through him. I am not a fanboy of Markplier or any youtuber who launches a cinematic content, but I truly think that he deserves the kudos for pulling this off by himself and getting so much recognition. In the end, its an indie film based on an indie game and I believe it deserves a chance

Its a no from me. Its not a bad film but its not a great film either for my tastes. Having not played the video game I am unsure how faithful it is to the game. From a filmmaking point its interesting but as a film, I found markilpliers acting wanting. Sounded more like rehearsing thab anything else for me. Though I will give him points for getting Andrew Hulshult to score the film, given his fantastic remaster of the original dooms score, the doom eternal DLC soundtrack and pretty much all of hulshults video scores are chef kisses.

Is good a little long but good, the shots are creative

Kai I love you but you need to find better content to react. You've been reacting to anything that comes out, riding trends. Instead look for THOUGHT provoking material.

Light

Hes been reacting to content his community tells him to. That's how hes always done it.

I wouldn't even know about this movie, it's literally the community asking me about it. I believe it's just come out hence they're asking. Spider-Man Noir is for me as it's Spider-Man. I listen to you guys. The only time I've done something for me and I'll do that every now and then was Bully, Robocop and Aliens.

ammogreed

Nothing wrong with listening to us, but I think it's time to go back to the drawing table and have a more intentional queue of material to react to. Stay clear of anime and anime like games like final fantasy. Choose a month for it if even, say, June month of x or y genre. And create a backlog of material that shows off good directors worth discussing because of their visuals. Remember how much fun you had with Nolan, you should keep doing top notch directors. Not whatever slop that comes out. Nothing against whoever keeps suggesting anime or the latest movies like hail Mary project or the latest game to come out like 007 but it feels like not the optimal content for a director to discuss in terms of filmmaking. Think more in the lines of no country for old men, the road, the departed, the lighthouse, movies or media that rocked the world not the Twitter numbers.

Oh wow that's quick, thank you for your commitment to what the viewers want

I've actually really liked what we've covered recently. Anime or anything Eastern is a big win for me as I'm in love with it. Even trying to slowly learn the language. Meaning that it will always be apart of the channel. More if I could help it. Movies will differ again depending on what it is. I'm wanting to go back to Aliens and Predator again soon. That's a me thing which we will. LOTR's starts again next week so there's that. What I like about this channel is we really are covering everything from old to new. It just depends on timing I guess. Nolan will have his time I'm sure. Blimey, we did three of his films not long ago when I think about it. What I'm saying is, we'll find something you love and keep on being vocal about it. It helps remind me of what you want. 💪🏻🙏🏻

The good thing is, you saying it could be shorter means there is a reason for it. Hopefully we can find out why.

Can't blame you for enjoying yourself, just not been enjoying the selection as of late. Too quick on the newest releases, and too cluttered with anime and the same franchises. Star wars, aliens, final fantasy. Just feedback man, being real honest here.

Fsaitza

I think its movie you can definetely talk about things to learn, on the good and not so good side of things. Its good, but I feel something pulls it off from achieving the top 10, and Im curious to know if its just a me thing or if there is indeed something in it. It will be a learning experience for sure.

I personally really like this film and liked the mystery. Though I have seen many people who'm are indifferent about it. It was completely funded by mark and had a budget of $3 mil. I thought it had creative and interesting shots that you might enjoy, especially with the limited set. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for taking the recommendation 👌

Light

This kinda comes across like you want him to only react to stuff you like and that the other stuff he reacts to is "worse" or not comparable in a cinematic lense. May not be the way you intended but it definitely comes across that way, especially with how you worded "need" and "better".

ammogreed

You're making this weird by addressing messages that are feedback for the creator, not for you. My point remains in that listening to the audience is great but the channel would benefit from a more intentional programming rather than whatever comes out this year. Please just leave it at that.

Chris.N7

I don't think it's anything special tbh. Way more interesting movies out there.

Erika

I do have some bias since I've watched Mark for years, but how he pulled it off, plus based of an indie game is really cool. The impact of that accomplishment hopefully hits a lot of people and/or aspiring filmmakers. It is a unique idea that someone made into a game, rather than the cash grabs that typically come out. The cinematography was a lot better than I was expecting. The story does not hold your hand at all and may take multiple watches to fully understand.

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

I mention all this in my post watch review and I even looked at the source material and immediately liked the movie more. I did have some gripes with it and with respect, I do go over them and with that British humour, take the piss a little. Looking forward to sharing this experience with you guys. Straight off the bat though, this is the first piece of content I've ever watched where I've had to stop the recording, and change my audio settings because the movies audio mix was a little messed up. 👀

Erika

I’m so excited to see your reaction!
