I'm in your hands with this so please voice where you'd like me to start or think is best. I'm also going to need an All Cutscenes video too so pretty please🙏🏻 Link me once we've got a winner.

Lovely Jubbly!

Kai

P.S. I got this list from Google so 🤞🏻 I got them all.

P.P.S. I'd probably prefer remakes over the originals as I think I can share more of the filmmaking techniques but I felt lost here so put the entire list down! 😂 aka panicked!

Think it could be fun to briefly check out some big scenes from the 90s original then move to the 2015 remaster

Chris.N7

Resident Evil 2 remake easily. The old games are too... old. At this point I'd only recommend RE2, 3 and 4 remakes, plus 7 & Village. Maybe 5 and 6 at a push. But anything before RE5 is a no go imo.

LimitlessEntertainment

Guys, remember to vote so Kai can actually get the story and see the progression of the games. Don't just vote for your favorite. He will get to it eventually. Now you decide whether that is the OG release or the remakes. I personally think the remakes he will have more fun with but not every game has a remake yet so he may have to combine them. I'd say start with RE1 Remake. I do not think RE0 is worth covering (at least at the begining) because it is not connected whatsoever to any of the other games

Creamy Bandit

If you want the story then zero would be your best place to start. But some of these games are quite dated. The remakes are great though. Capcom will get around to them all eventually.

Brohajar

I'd say Go for RE2->3->4 (all the remakes) ->7->8

Horatio Williams

There’s lots more votes for RE2 as it’s the start of Leon’s story but the 2015 remaster of RE1 would be ideal in my opinion.

carrot

I loved RE VII & The Village both were stunning graphically.. (I defo need to play 2 & 3 remakes.)... The modern one re-made ones look amazing.

Brohajar

He said at end that he prefers remakes so i assumed he wants to see the more modern ones.

gaMerfUll

Do start from the remake of 1, then the remake of 2-4. The jump to 5 and 6 might be extremely jarring, but after that all is good. No reason to skip 1. Probably a quick video and you can see where the series started, story wise. Yes, there are prequels and spinoffs but I personally don't thinking you have to cover EVERYTHING.

Chris Larson

I definitely agree with starting at RE1 Remake. The only real question is RE3 because the Remake and the OG are so different. He'll get confused if misses RE1R especially in 3 or 5.

Jess Landry

copy/paste from previous poll: Mkay I would recommend watching like the first 10 minutes of the original RE1 because it's hilarious. The first cutscene is live-action and it was the 90s so... I'd start there. Then for actual "cinema" and story, I'd recommend RE1 remake, RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, RE4 Remake, RE5, personally I did not play RE6 for different reasons. Idk if anything important happened in it for the story but I haven't suffered for not knowing what happens. It was a bit of a shite-show as a game and pretty widely accepted as the worst game in the main series. Then RE7 for sure and RE8. I know you did RE9 already but I will 100% watch you do a second round of it once you have context.

LimitlessEntertainment

It's a must if he is here for story at all. I understand him not wanting to see the ogs but re1 remake still looks pretty good and will be a fun camp fest. Then he can go straight into 2 remake. On the topic of re3 tho, I still feel he will enjoy the remake more. The cutscenes were never what was wrong with that game and the remake at least covers the most important stuff

Chris Larson

If Kai wants a definitive list Definitely start at RE1 Remake because it introduces characters, Kai will wa t to know going through these games RE1 Remake, RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake (unless someone knows a great OG version), RE:Code Veronica, RE0 Remake, RE4 Remake, RE5, RE6, RER, RER2, RE7, RE8, RE: Reqium. The Revelations are good but not the most necessary.

Chris Larson

I get the not wanting the OGs. RE2 Remake is prettier but RE1 Remake is so important to whole franchise. As for RE3 Remake. I agree the cutscenes aren't the issue.

PeppaShrekky

I'd say either Resident Evil 1 Remake or Resident Evil 2 Remake. RE1 doesn't really have many cutscenes but it does provide some necessary context for a few of the later titles. RE2 remake is the start of the modern Remake series which have a more cinematic approach. In my opinion I'd go Resident Evil 1 Remake, 2 Remake, 3 Remake, 4 Remake, 5, 6 (Some people would say to skip this one but I'd say it's worth the watch), 7: Biohazard and 8:Village. You've already seen Requiem and there's a remake of Code Veronica coming out sometime next year.

PeppaShrekky

Technically RE1 is a remake but also there aren't many cutscenes so I'd probably just be a single video

ReddCxrpse

Now who the hell picked RE Village before RE 7 Biohazard?

TheNeroDB

I'd personally start with RE1 Remake then work your way to the rest of the Remake series. The originals (especially 2/3/4) are great and there's definitely some creative differences with them. But i think to truly ease yourself into the franchise, Start with the Remakes. RE1 Remake gives you an idea how the classics play but with updated visuals. The following remakes stray a further away from its "dated" design. You mentioned playing about playing FFVII OG on your steam deck while you're on your trips. The OGs ( 1 2 and 3) could serve a similiar purpose.

incoherent-excitement

I'm very new to the RE series (horror shooter games aren't really my jam), but I have recently watched a YouTube platinum hunter cover RE1 HD, RE2R, RE3R, RE4R, RE7 and RE9 (he's coming back to RE8) and I've enjoyed the story. I think from a filmmaking perspective, Kai's probably better off covering the remakes. Even if starting with RE2R, I'm sure there's a plot summary video of RE1HDR that he could watch to get caught up. I know it's probably a long way off if Kai's starting from the beginning, but is RE9 on this list?

G Lord Robinson

Re1 remake is the move. Not too “cinematic” given its old as hell but I truly believe it is the best place to start. It only goes up from there

Fsaitza

RE 1 and 2 are pretty independent stories from each other, so any of them are great to start with. I personally think RE 2 is best because it feels more renovated and you get your boy Leon and your girl Claire, and the latest will appear in the remake of RE Code Veronica. But in RE 1 you get Chris Redfield and the introduction to one of the most iconic villains of the saga

LimitlessEntertainment

Only problem I have with zero (besides it's gameplay lol) is that it is never mentioned ever in any other RE game

Creamy Bandit

Do you mean the 'switching' mechanic? Yeah it really only fleshes out what happens directly before RE1 and the fate of the bravo team. To be fair chambers is included in lore and the animated movies. So in that regards it does flesh out one of the OG crew.

PeppaShrekky

He has already reacted to Requiem

incoherent-excitement

He has? Oh, I must have completely missed that! Awesome, I'll catch up with that.

Maniik_FliX

OG 4 is still pretty good
