Oh, my goodness! Another animation hits the channel and I am in LOOOOOVE!

I love covering all these animations because one, I’m weak in this area as it wasn’t really my thing, Horror too. I mentioned this in the Cars Reaction but two, the stories and filmmaking techniques that come with them!

Like I mention in the intro of this video, I’ve wanted to watch this movie since 2010 and held off all the way until 2026.

The big question is though considering it came will all this hype. “One of the best animated movies ever made.”

Was the 16 years wait worth it!?

Let’s find out together shall we.

Play The Tape!

Kai

P.S. Who wants to see the other two movies I mention in the intro?

Let me know below please and we’ll make it happen.

P.P.S Yes, I did say I’d kick a girl in the F’king Fanny.

Hell yeah!

Evo4Riley

Awesome choice I voted for this movie. Cause I love these animated movies!! 1 and 2 are incredible. Great work Kai 🔥🔥

Evo4Riley

Id definitely recommend 2 is my personal favourite out of the 3 !!

Cheshers

Perfect timing, just sat down with dinner and a glass of wine

idobegaysometimes

I don't mean this in a complaining way, it's just my curiosity and love for Spider-Man: When is the next cutscene video coming? 😁

Chris Clark

Hell yeah, an absolute classic. The how to train your dragon trilogy is one of the rare examples of a perfect trilogy. There is not one bad film in the whole series. Also all of them are tear jerkers as well.

Seyomint

Exquisite choice my friend! That is all I can really say. The rest of the movie speaks for itself!

ManateeMan2004

A very nice choice for the beginning of the weekend, plus you've never seen Rango? Now thats another amazing animated movie.

idobegaysometimes

Game, I should've specified 😅 but thank you! Looking super forward to it

Smokey

The reason hiccup lost his foot is because toothless bite off it was the only thing he could grab on to

Will Usher

Yooo holy PEAK!! That’s tonight viewing sorted. So excited you’re covering this. One of the best trilogies of all time for me, might even top Kung Fu Panda in terms of animated ones. Can never miss a reaction to these movies when I see them pop up. Perfect example of animated movies not just being “for kids”. Enjoy all 3, don’t need to say more 🙌🏼

This was a childhood film of mine, I remember being 8 when it came out my birthday was around the corner and I pissed my mum off somwthing fierce and she was telling me my birthdays cancelled gifts going back and Im all upset next thing you know she comes through apologises and we watch this film for the first time😢😁

Cheshers

You gotta watch the other 2 Kai, it's an amazing journey watching Hiccup and Toothless grow up together and seeing the world expand.

Volfur

The how to train your dragon movies really don't disappoint and the 2nd one in my opinion pushes it even further that it would be a injustice not to check it out

Strags

I saw this in the cinema when it came out. Twice. The sound design in this film is tremendous and a proper cinema screen sound system makes this film brilliant.

Hey Kai. So regarding the live action I havent seen it yet, but people have said its pretty good. And one of the reasons for that I think is that its also directed by Dean DeBlois. He said that he doesnt like the idea of live action adaptations from already good animation movies, but seeing that its currently a trend he decided that if they were going to make a live action adaptation of the movie, he might as well direct it to make sure it didnt lose its essence, and he probably nailed that one, because they are preparing the live action of the second movie now. Oh and Gerard Butler came back for the live action, so you have the original Estoic there if you decide to watch the adaptation. Also, I personally liked How to train your dragon 2 a lot. And just to give you a little hint of how good it is, Guillermo del Toro was consulted by the director and helped to make a subtle but critical decision in the film, which I think lifts the movie a bit higher. Will you be able to spot Guillermo's hand in it? I think you will need to see the film for it. Again, its a specific choice, but a very meaningful one when the movie goes forward.

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Definitely watch the second and third. If it were another channel, I would say skip the live-action remake but I'm actually curious what your honest reaction to it would be.

Verdin Labuschagne

I had the patience for John Wick on YouTube, but I physically jumped when I saw you post this and just had to come here. I cannot wait for 2 and 3 because they really do just get better, and were made to grow up with their starting audiences.

James Nyman

Hey Kai! One of the most underrated trilogies of all time. Bring the tissues for the next two movies ok😂

Reacher

It was one of the best of the remakes we have gotten, but runs into the problem that all the remake movies run into when they do 1-1: it's not as good as this one

Reacher

Don't change Kai! Last thing I wanna watch is a talking head wordlessly reacting to a movie like a real-life NPC. The added flavour you give is great! My friends got me to watch this last year and it's awesome. Top tier Dreamworks that easily stands alongside Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, and the like. The main leitmotif always get as well, I have it on my regular playlist and everytime it comes on I get the blurry vision. As someone who has seen the live-action adaptation, I'd say miss out on it. Not because it's bad, but you've already seen the best version. So while there may be some good things in there to pick out, you've be left thinking "I could've just spent this time watching the OG". I'd definitely suggest going to another Dreamworks animation movie, and then circling back to How To Train Your Dragon 2

Eno

Watching this movie in theaters is a core childhood memory of mine, it's one of the first movies I can remember being genuinely excited to see on the big screen. Funny story about the movie though, it is one of the most massively altered book to movie adaptations I've ever witnessed. 😅 The best example I can think of is that in the books, Toothless isn't this elite, super powerful dragon with a name like a death metal band: he's literally the most common, underwhelming dragon on Berk. He's just incredibly ordinary, much like Hiccup. And he talks. The dragons can speak in the book, if I remember correctly. That said, the movies are one of the few examples of a change that I think works, though it is a little cheeky of them to use the same name for such an incredibly different story.

Jonah

Love it. Definitely check out 2 and 3, one of my favourite animated trilogies. Also I don't know if anyone else mentioned it but that scene at the beginning where the camera passes over his wing to reveal his open eye was actually originally a visual animation glitch! Glad they ended up keeping it. Awesome!

Person

One of the best animated trilogies.

Dylan

You absolutely have to check out the 2nd and 3rd film. It’s a perfect animated trilogy

Masenko

“Are the other movies just as good?” Even better! The second movie is by far the best of the three imo, the details! and CHEEZE is pushed to the max. I can’t wait to see that notification drop

Sk dragon

definitely check out how to train your dragon 2, it's the best one for sure

LaurenAnne

We get joy watching your excitement, don't ever turn it down mate.

James Nyman

These movies have always been really relatable in a lot of ways so I think that’s why the next two are very heavy hitting

Vraith

Oh we absolutely need to have a Reign of Fire reaction! Your passion for one of my favourite, massively under-appreciated movies of all times, means I reckon your filmmaker's perspective on it is going to be amazing!

Seyomint

I am hoping and praying that you do! You will love it all the way down the street and back!

Eno

Reign of Fire is an all time favorite that I'd love to see covered on here some time. Really legendary movie

Distorted Wolf

Kai watching the start to one of my fav Trilogies ever. Lets goooo I hope to see you watch the 2nd one, its my personal favorite🖤

Nj-Howey

defintely watch film 2 and 3, 2 is my favourite of this triliogy, i would even say check out the live action version of this film eventually

Keebemon

This movie makes me tear up more than any other. I'm so glad you took the time to react, and yes, please do the second one! It's my favorite of the three!

SP4RT4NWARRIOR

Just finished all the books recently and it's crazy how different the stories are from the movies. I wish the books got an actual movie adaptation, but I agree it does work well with the change. I really enjoy these movies.

SP4RT4NWARRIOR

Kai, I think there needs to be a dragon theme continuation. Reign of Fire and Dragonheart would be awesome movies to watch with you and get your thoughts on what makes them so good. I loved Reign of Fire it's such a good movie.

Joe Spine

Have to go through the second and third movies. They are equally as fantastic as this one.

Christopher Bonilla

Please check out 2 and 3 I love your vids, you’re the only person I’m subbed to on Patreon! Oh and maybe when you have time check out puss in boots

Phryte

My man

Robin

this is my absolute favourite movie and when i saw you reacting to this, it made me tear up a bit of happiness. I really hope you will react to the sequels aswell as the live action version, 2 is as great as the first one, the third is awesome aswell and i also loved the live action version.

Josh

Yes you should do the trilogy its beyond amazing and all three are just a wonderful ride

Tkdriverx

This is actually my top favorite movie of all time. 19:49 Fun fact, the reveal past the wing with the eye open supposedly started as an animation MISTAKE, that when they noticed it they really liked how it looked, so they kept it. I think you will absolutely LOVE the second movie.

Christian Spruill

If we dont see the other 2, I would literally cry :P

Thinkace

how about kai that... NO BALLS U DROP THE 2 MOVIES TOMORROW NO BALLLLLLLS

GingerBread

the movie started with him helping the dragon to fly again and the movie ended with the dragon help him walk again. full circle.

PsychoX

I’m so glad i joined the Patreon, I love this movie and hope you do the other ones!

Arsen The Writer and Artist

Theres also a netflix series that goes between the first and second movies , extremely good too

KingWCKD

It's sad because he loves Dragons but refuses to watch House Of The Dragon =(

KingWCKD

I think you'd love it Kai. It's gory and has Dragons.. what's not to love =)
