Guys… SPOILER ALERT! This is my favourite part so far. The shit literally hits the fan and the boiling kettle has popped its nut.

I’ve only one gripe with this and for me it was a big one. I needed to really think about it too but like always on this channel. I wanted to understand “WHY”!? Why did they take the writing in this direction?

In the post review watch, I go more into this and explain what I was looking for [personally], what I felt it would have done for certain characters however and this was a nice change. I spoke on what Insomniac Games did here and WHY they did it.

What direction would you have taken the story in that crossroad moment?

Let me know below please.

Thank you Kai just in time for my midnight smoke sesh of legal herbs

venom is converting MJ and all peter says is "Don't"😭

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

You know what, I didn't really think about that. So.... I've watched that scene again and of course he's got your hand on your woman, you go mad of course. The thing is, they can't put a hand on each other yet. It will spoil it. The clash between friends etc. Spidey Vs Venom. That whole section was building or kettle boiling should we say. I also think the writers would know that we know that Harry wouldn't kill MJ.

I will say that Miles Vs Peter fight is pretty hard in game so that may help with what you think of it. When the suit is coming off it does last longer. You have have to button mash and you get a bit thats very reminiscent of the bell scene from Spider-man 3 which is cool, dont know why they skipped it.

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

Oh okay, that's cool. So they left it for gameplay. Interesting. Thank you for informing me on this. If you had a choice, would you have wanted to play as Parker there or happy that you played as Miles? Also, I can't really remember the bell scene in Spider-Man 3 but we'll get there. I remember not liking Venom though. Again, I can't remember why.

Buried0

I guess so but when you’re playing this as a normal gamer it just feels weird seeing Peter standing there and not doing anything while his girl is getting mishandled

Thomas Jenner

it might be because spiderman 3 doesn't really do a good job at representing venom, you can tell sam ramie was forced to include him and didn't really understand the character

With that Venom part, there are two games that are like that but open world. [Prototype] and [Prototype 2]. Stuff you see in the cutscenes here are doable in game-play. The same guys were working on a Sam Raimi Spider-Man 4 tie-in game. Like the helicopter cutscene in the intro of Miles Morales' game was a gameplay mechanic there. Granted there is only prototype footage of that tie-in game because the Spider-Man 4 movie was canned during early stages but judging by what the devs did in the [Prototype] games it could have been badass. Sadly the spider-man prototype was never repurposed for a standalone game. I am not saying that a cutscene can't be badass I am just missing radical entertainment and their skills. Just for context, the radical entertainment games are literally called [Prototype] with the square brackets, that's why I always include them to better distinguish between that franchise and the general term. And also the first [Prototype] was rough around the edges with difficulty spikes. Lastly the console version has never looked flattering but the PC version is holding up better requiring some tweaks though to be running smoother.

I still remember the moment you switch to Venom in that scene, ohh what a joy that was. The fighting style between Spider-Man and Venom was completely different. Spider-Man with the very fast and agile thinking and then Venom with the "ohh fuck it, just go and hit some buttons and have fun". Kind of relaxing actually. And personally I didn´t mind playing Miles when you fight Peter. You also have to keep in mind, alot of the Boss fights takes ages to complete. I think I died like 4-5 times to Kraven and it was a fresh air to change it up. If I had to fight another 30 mins as Peter it might have gotten exhausting to a point I could not have enjoy it.

Past this point, I can't say if things were good or not. I know 2 controversial things before the game ends. But the moment I saw I was playing as Venom, I went crazy with hype. Specially because it feels so good to play as him. The destruction, the finishers that this videos didn't do a lot of. I like me crazy destructive monsters, so this was a fantasy made reality. With how things turned out with Wolverine... I'm starting to wonder if just a fun destructive Hulk game would have been the better option for Insomniac. I loved them old Hulk games, I'd go crazy with something that feels anything close to this. Or heck, even a Venom game. But unfortunately.... I highly doubt that'll be happening anytime soon. But yeah, I undertand your frustrations, but I hope at the end of this playthrough you still enjoy this experience. Also, I don't know if they show up in the main story. But there's an important character that shows up a lot in side stories that you even asked for. That whole quest line even ends with a tease for more Venom related stuff. Again, it's been a looong while. It might actually be in the main story.

So where are you at headspace wise so far when it comes to how you are actually enjoying the story, compared to the expectations that so many people try to thrust onto you (and everyone else) before you started about the game vs. the first one, and also compared to your own expectations? Maybe it will become clear as I begin to watch Part 3 right now, but based on only your write up I honestly can't tell what you think so far haha, mostly because of "it's your favorite part" side by side with the "major gripe"

cojiiii

I mean he said it's his favorite part thus far, gripe or no gripe. Personally I know I may not be the majority here, but I also enjoyed everything past this point very much. It sounds cliche but I honestly don't think there was a single point while playing S2 where I enjoyed an hour of story or gameplay less than I did the previous hour

gaMerfUll

Me too, but i kinda made the mistake of playing then later watching a couple people's playthrough of it to see their reactions. And I was kinda influenced by different takes and opinions. So by around the end of the game I was always 'Yep, they won't like this'. But personally I had a blast. Pretty sure I 100% the game unless I missed something. I haven't replayed these games only because they're pretty big and as of late, open world games eith check lists are not what I want in my busy life. But back then, I honestly considered this game my GOTY. It was a shame a lot of people didn't share my hype.

Thinkace

u really need to know how like miles is the new one and everyone loves old but he will and always be 10 times stronger than spiderman peter + SPOILER ALLERT in absolute carnage comic it took control over miles just for him to be able to take control by him self of willpower thats how powerufl he is

Dylan Hutchins

I know you didn't ask me but if you played as Peter in that section I feel like the gameplay of it would've suffered. In my opinion what makes that so cool is that Peter feels like a true boss fight to as you say build up the status of Venom. If you played as Peter in that section they would've had to either build up Miles ever more, or do something to make the stakes high enough for them to feel as powerful as Peter. I think their goal with playing as Venom was to make you feel as powerful as possible. If they made a scene where you play as Venom and you "lose" and the suit comes off, it would feel lesser than being sort of the underdog as Miles, making you the culprit rather than losing to a scripted scene.

Dylan Hutchins

Insomniac btw was also reportedly working on a full Venom game but speculation as of late seems to be that it was cancelled. But who knows.

So relatable, legal herbs is hilarious lmao. 🤙💚

Carnage is actually in this game just in a side mission where you go on missions with wraith who is yuri the officer from the first game and you investigate a cult called the flame which is lead by cleatus cassisy. Which overall is like a mini dlc. But I won't give to much away incase you want to watch it

Cayde Elric

Some of the questions you have about other villains, and your question about Yuri in one of the prior videos, are fully fleshed out side quests that deserve some time. I'm sure there are some videos of those, but they are peppered throughout the story for both Peter and Miles. Watching those missions independent of the rest of the game absent the context of what's happening at that point in the story can confuse things a little. It's all the more reason for you to play the game. Also, one thing you don't get to see from these story videos is how flawless the fast travel is for the game. Look up a video of someone loading from one part of the city to another and I think you'll get a real kick out of it.

time for Fun Facts! : The gameplay of Venom being added to the game, inspired the team so much that it became the conceptual birth of their Wolverine game, just switching the anti-hero. Why is it that scene takes clear inspiration from the MCU Hulk? Because the creation of Venom on paper is to put a gnawing maw to spider-man, and stuff that head on the body of Hulk with claws, that is how to draw Venom se he HAS the shape of Hulk. Eddie Brock's best out of comic book Venom origin story portrayal was in that 1994 Spider-Man show you keep thinking about. There you have your fun facts for the day!

I didn't expect the dawgs to come out Kai 😂
