The scenes in this episode are so bloody good. They’re sexy, full of smut and comical!

I have two favourite scenes in this video and both are equally brilliant. Of course, that torture scene. Oh, my goodness, how gripping! The moment it started to the moment it ended. I could feel myself like the camera getting closer and closer to the screen.

Interestingly enough, noticed Kojima’s bizarre ECU [Extreme Close Up] on the faces in this part. Was that intentional? Was he trying to make us feel uncomfortable it this story beats?

My other favourite scene is the removal of the tracker! I love the almost promised love scene to instead a wrestling match on the wall behind. Very good Kojima and co, very good! Only thing I noticed regarding that scene however was the way it was stitched in.

You know what I’m like for the story thread but something about that, felt slightly off. The flow wasn’t perfect but is that a me thing? How did you find it? Did you even noticed the disconnect? 🤔

This part is balls to the wall AMAZING and I now can’t wait for part 3 of this video series and then… we move on to MGS4! I hear it has my boy Solid in it! That makes me SOLID💪🏻!

Excellent, Snake Age hasn’t slowed you down one bit

Baki B

Dropped my job application to watch this

Day 3 of requesting a twilight reaction

Tomas Z

Tracker removal scene is optional if you as a player didn't remove it yourself earlier. Just extra Kojima thing.

Ruukasu97

there are 3 ways to kill the end the funniest is when you change the date of the console a year ahead he dies of old age without you needing to fight him you can also assassinate him when he first appears in the wheelchair in the cutscene you already saw and the normal way

Ruukasu97

the ladder has 310 steps and for some reason in the remake only 309

vitreouss

1:04:16 he wasn't shot in the eye, no. the muzzle flash blinded him, burning his eye. if you go frame by frame you can see the bullet miss and fly off into the ceiling. this was also confirmed by kojima in a directors commentary

ERIK

Funnily enough, in one of Para-Medic's after-save CODEC calls, she yaps about James Bond and Snake says how he is not particularly fond of those movies, saying "they're nothing like the life he's living". And then Major Zero comes in yapping Snake's ear off about how great they are

Creamy Bandit

Haha I dunno if you should watch the remaster. Judging by your reaction to this one you'll be frothing more than bonnie blue at a sausage factory! This games story goes from strength to strength, I think the ending is great and you really do need the memory of an elephant to retain all these different story snippets for the great kojima payoffs in the later games! Yes the Raiden cameo was another kojima play on the backlash from the previous game. Great that you pay hommage to some of the voice actors. Maybe one day we will hear some more voice actors that you love 🤫

Amazing. That wrestling match was brilliant. This metal gear series has been fuckin great 👍

Do you want him to suffer?

Literally unplayable

What a thrill.... The more I rewatch and replay this game, the more I realize it may be my favourite game of all time. By the end of this game I have a strong suspicion you'll feel the same way and I absolutely CANNOT wait!!! Next up, to answer a few of your questions - the forehead ECUs are actually a bug introduced in the remasters. For whatever reason the camera in ALL cutscenes was moved a few centimetres to the top specification in the HD versions of these games. (Never got fixed to this day, which is a lil annoying). Secondly, you kinda already alluded to that, but the Cobra Unit is meant to represent the emotions a soldier feels. So Snake taking each cobra member out is representative of the idea of him killing his pain, fear, sorrow, etc.

I wish you could've experienced the MGS games. You would have connected with the stories on such a deeper level. MGS3 really hit the nail with that because this was the first game (as far as i know) where you could play the entire game without killing anyone. As in, you can fight all enemies and the bosses by draining their stamina bar. (The very thin bar bellow the health bar) And so much more to it. From the way you use your weapons and items, to how you plan your path through the level. Even secret Codec calls that trigger only at certain moments in th game. Also, before you start watching the other MGS titles, i would advise you that you post the link you want to watch on Patreon. We can tell you if they are good or missing key story elements.

ERIK

18:26 That's the camo you get for beating Ocelot non-lethally actually, so a fitting description lol. It also makes your hands less shaky and gives weapons less recoil as a bonus effect

Fsaitza

In the scene where Snake follows The Sorrow through the river, if you have killed people during your gameplay, they will show up as spirits in the river, and if you havent killed anyone it will show empty like that. Thats a nice little Kojima thing. And before going into Metal Gear Solid 4, which serves kind of like the finale for all the story so far, you should watch: -Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops -Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker In both of them, you play as Big Boss, which serves to level him up as the titan he is and piece together a lot of things for Metal Gear Solid 4, especially about The Patriots. Those are not pixels and squares by the way, so there are cinematics and other surprises there. And Metal Gear Solid 5 comes to bridge the the story and characters of the Big Boss era to what you know in the Solid Snake era, so you could say that the final Metal Gear game is an in medias res itself.

ERIK

The Bosses do actually become quite a challenge on the highest difficulty. But that is mostly because they are a lot tankier and faster. Normal and Hard are nothing compared to Extreme., that mode is a lot more "realistic" in terms of enemy vision cones and bullet damage and so on. They have some cool moves tho, but these videos just get the boss fights over and done with pretty quickly

Ocelot

Kojima originally planned for The End fight to last alot longer, like, a lot longer, I can't remember the exact time but it was days of real time of hunting him but obviously cut it as it would drastically affect pacing. In the fight I always take out his spotter (the parrot) and you can eat it too 😆 Also his teeth pop out as false teeth back then were opened via a spring and it was known that they can pop out of the mouth, exaggerated in game, clearly.

5Tom51

There are a bunch of codec calls with para medic and snake talking about old movies. It's basically kojima nerding out. Could be a fun reaction maybe?

Dominoan

What a thrill…

Petition for MGS4 video to be covered with the KefkaProduction's Metal Gear Solid 4 Full Movie version, I back it with my names reputation as some random Patreon!

AgentRedShirt

Yep, if you’re quick enough about it. Also, conversely, if you like, save your game during the fight and walk away for a while when you come back, you’re dead because he used that time to sneak up on you. At least from what I’ve heard.

Snk444

The reason Volgin reveals all that information in front of everyone in the torture room is because he is trying to snuff out the spy among them.

monsters2312

We need less sex scenes in movies and more pro wrestling scenes

Muss Raaa

R1 on the top right indicates the player can go First person optionally and look around, which is why the camera might seem odd sometimes during cutscenes lol. Awesome coverage cant wait for part 3 :)

Chris Tylee

I love how Eva pulled the old Clark Kent trick as Tatyana

DefaultArk

I'm not sure if someone mentioned it but, during the boss fight with The End if you turn off and wait a week he'll die of old age

Masu

You can actually get the Raiden mask at the very beginning of the game. Before starting the game asks you if you had any experience with any previous metal gear games, and if you pick that you've played up to mgs2,the entire plane jump intro sequence plays with snake wearing the Raiden mask as a prank to the audience

Bryan Díaz Olmos

I second this, a lot of content that I would consider important was cut from this play trough, such a shame to leave that much on the table.

Chronos

The Johnny character is referencing the soldier that was guarding Solid Snake's cell in MGS1, named Johnny, and somewhere in MGS2 as an easter egg.

ERIK

The shot to the knee was actually a revival pill, for lore reasons in case you already used yours up earlier

ERIK

1:23:25 WOWW, I never knew Eva actually shot the guys down if you left the transmitter in. Another instance of two different cutscenes you can get depending on how you go about it. Just Hideo things 1:39:50 You have to remember tho, these stories aren't purely heroes vs villains. I'm sure you realize that tho. The only true typical evil villain in this game is Colonel Volgin. Your comments about reading body language and the way certain things are framed makes me REALLY FUCKING EXCITED for you to get to MGSV

Alan Stock

What? Awesome. So she actually shoots you with the capsule so you can dig it out? Does it just appear in your inventory or is there radio dialogue as well?

Alan Stock

It's still really long for a boss fight if you play it like a sniper battle. I think i spent like 2 hours slinking through the areas playing hide and seek against him. One of my favourite bosses of all time. An issue with these videos is it doesn't showcase the standard boss gameplay, just the most efficient non-lethal way to do it. Which is fine but it loses the feel of how the fight plays out for most people.

Alan Stock

I'd completely forgotten about the wrestling, very good!

Alan Stock

Isn't the remaster shot-for-shot for the cutscenes? I dunno if there's much value in rewatching it all apart from for the shiny graphics (and fun). Or am I wrong?

ERIK

There might be radio dialogue but I can't remember. I know it pops up when you enter the "CURE" menu and you can dig it out of the wound using a fork or a knife

Alan Stock

Worth remembering that the player heals up all of Snake's many major injuries using the in-game medical system so there is a bit of a disconnect between how he is in cutscenes vs gameplay. For example some encounters start with Snake injured from a cutscene battle and you must heal it, which I assume is why his leg is fine in the waterfall scene. You can deal with stuff like gunshot wounds, arrows stuck in you, broken bones, cuts, etc. No replace eye option though :P

Selph

"You know what I’m like for the story thread but something about that, felt slightly off. The flow wasn’t perfect but is that a me thing?" No, 100% not a you thing, but you're missing quite a bit of background on each character and the story as a whole that is only revealed through Codec calls. For instance, the Cobras in this playthrough feel a lot like filler content, you could totally cut them off and have a better rythm. MGS1 & 2 didn't have this problem because those calls were mandatory and an integral part of the story. In MGS3, it's mostly bonus content given to you by Sigint, if I remember correctly.

Kain D. Zero

When Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was released I bought it and played the game through with an eye patch to experience what it feels like to have an eye patch and only see with one eye. My eye dried up like crazy and the experience was terrible but I powereed through and I am happy I did that crazy "stunt" in the end.

Kain D. Zero

Michael Bell was good in making his voice sound nothing like Raziel.

Kain D. Zero

Fun fact. You can skip The End fight by saving at the beginning of the battle with him, then by changing the Playstation clock and date forward and then loading the save again. When you reload The End will be dead.

Kain D. Zero

I've never used the cig spray on The End but I do mostly use tranquilizer weapons to get the non lethal completion.

Kain D. Zero

The Fury is my favorite one of the Cobras and yes: one important reason is that he is voiced by Richard Doyle.

Kain D. Zero

You didn't notice that The Fury voice actor is Moebius The Timestreamer from Legacy Of Kain?? :)

Kain D. Zero

The junk grope scene. Volgin is a sadist and a bisexual.

Kain D. Zero

The waterfall jump scene was a reference to the Harrison Ford movie "The Fugitive"

Kain D. Zero

The Sorrow's battle is different depending on if you killed any enemies during the game or if you didn't. The amount of enemies and their enemy types affect the battle as well because you see all the enemies you have killed during the battle floating on the river.

Kain D. Zero

Remember, Kai. Ocelot said in Metal Gear Solid 2 to Solidus that he is the spitting image of Big Boss when he got the eye patch
