Gears of War E-Day London (Patreon)

Yesterday I was invited to the Gears of War E-Day London event to not only try out E-Day the game but also soak up the atmosphere the game and world has to bring.
It was an awesome little event with around 150 Streamers, YouTubers, Influencers and Developers. It was also the same venue they used the day before for Xbox fanfest London. I didn’t even know it was on otherwise I would have tried to get a ticket or try to be entered in the lottery to attend.
The game demo I played was part of Act 2 which believe it or not, I’ve already played!
I first played it at Gamescom 2026 however, they were running the game on developer box hardware so I found myself enjoying it but there were definitely some limitations to the image I was looking at. The contrast looked muted and I wasn’t a fan off “the look”. I also had to wait an hour, maybe just over to get my hands on it.
I left that experience with a smile on my face and the verdict of “I can not wait to watch this with you guys in the community.” That was kind of it.

This time however, I was playing it on PC and I jumped straight in. I could have played it multiple times but once was enough because I didn’t want to spoil it for myself.
I left E-Day IN LOVE with the game, totally different experience and I’ve already purchased the Premium Edition this morning. I want to make this clear, I was not given a code or paid to go to this event. Most of you already know this too, I’m a cheap bastard and believe in only paying for what you think is worth it. This game is worth the dollar in my opinion.
The way it feels is incredible once you’ve learnt that the A button is no longer the sprint button. It’s the left stick after you’ve clicked it in and top tip, instead of hitting A to jump out of cover to run. Just use a left click of the stick and it will immediately run/sprint for you. It didn’t tell you this, I just tried it and then it was perfect.
The character itself feels amazing to move around the environments and the looseness of the legs, the hips of Marcus or Dom in your hands is incredible. You’ll know exactly what I’m on about once you get your own filthy hands on it.
You feel and I mean “FEEL” - awesome be it diving, rolling, leaping, sprinting, climbing up the backs of open trucks to then leap off, land and then slide to cover…. CHEFSKISS! I always found gears when playing multiplayer with friends to feel like building blocks connecting to another set of building blocks. This is DIFFERENT!
The event had lots of Gears of War mini games to play. A Gears pub with Gears booze, I loved that! The IPA was a touch naughty and it’s a shame they don’t sell it. I’d love to get that golden nectar in me again 😂. Ended up having a few brews with Captain Eggcellent who I didn’t know if I’m being honest. I have now since subscribed.
Permanent ink - You could get an actual tattoo there which was awesome. I almost got the Halo energy sword but decided to get it another day with my own tattoo artist. These were timed slots and instead… I got me my very own Cog tags. They only had 100 so yeah, I didn’t want to miss out.
I even walked away with some goodies including a controller! If the controller is as nice as it looks in the image, I might have to swap out my orange one on my desk for a little while.
I would definitely recommend picking up E-Day be it fan of the older titles or even as a cold caller. The game looks and feels expensive. The kind of production value and story I think Xbox has needed for some time and for fans of the console.
Be it you’re playing this day one of day none, I hope you check out the video series with me covering ALL THE CUTSCENES to Gears of War: E-Day!
I can’t wait!
