In the post review watch, I do something different from normal and I had a tonne of fun doing it. I look at the most discussed criticism for the movie and tackle them head on be it I agree, disagree or explain why I think Michael Bay did what he did! If you like me doing this, please let me know and I will continue trying it out for other movie reaction reviews.

We’re back with another adventure of Transformers and the absolute sex on film cinematography. I don’t care what anyone says, Bays shots are beautiful, even the really ugly non-framed ones. I wonder why? … Maybe you could answer this for me.

-          BTW I do know the answer and I mention a little about Bays history when Ironhide makes his first transformation.

I discuss in the intro how much I’ve always hated my first time watching Transformers or the Bayformers. This movie however I remember watching on home release and I still didn’t like it. That was the last time I watched this movie. A long long time ago!

In this video reaction we’re going to find out why certain shots absolutely hit and they do, why parts don’t work for me personally and potentially for others. Why however, Bay and the writers made the decision to include them still (think overall storyline and that thread of storytelling), and most importantly.

What do I think now of Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen?

I remember watching this at the cinema thinking WTF am i watching when it got to the decepticon Alice. I still don't know what was the whole point of her and what happened to her, never mentioned again in any of the other films. This film has good action scenes but it takes the comedy to far.. esp devastators balls which its funny that, the scene when rendering melted a whole render bank of PC's due to the sheer level of details in devastators CGI model. The computer couldn't handle him. Also the Fallen was supposed to the a really big bad, the fallen prime.. yet he is taken out without much effort. Sadly this film for me has not aged well i still have the same issues with it as i did back in 2009 when i was 25. It would rank right at the bottom but then the Last knight came out.. the less said about that film the better. I really hope you check the War for Cybertron game series and the premier of Transformers Prime which is a TV movie.

I'm not ashamed to admit when I heard Peter had passed I cried. He was a genuinely kind hearted man and a legendary voice actor. He will be missed. Optimus Prime won't feel the same thats for sure.

I feel you Lauren and good on you to be honest and open about it. I never met the man but yet I felt so attached. The power of the voice like I've mentioned multiple times on the channel. Looking forward to hearing him again and again as we continue this journey.

Cullen's voice leading right into Chester's from Linkin Park. Both gone. T.T Edit: It's far from a flawless film, but it's just great entertainment. The fights are cool. Definitely the humor could have been dialed back. I liked it with the parents, it's exactly within their character as was established int he first film. Some of the excess in the middle could have been dialed back. I don't think anyone liked Leo. Once the final act's fight began, they probably should have eased back some. "Not my best throw" with the orange smoke was good. "The enemy scrotum" was cringe. Just for an example. At least in my opinion. I like the three Shia Transformers film. I watched some transformers as a kid back in the 80's, but just like GI Joe, I always got annoyed no one could hit anything. At least in Star Wars, they clearly specified why firefights were a lot of misses by specifically calling blasters "clumsy or random." Transformers/GIJoe made stormtroopers look like marksmen. At any rate, it's why I didn't have too much of a connection to the series as others might so I didn't mind the changes to characters, because I didn't remember most of them very well. Probably been... 35+ years since I saw any of the original cartoons. I was all in on the Ninja Turtles when they came out. (and subsequently hate the Bay films for that franchise for similar reasons Transformers fans might hate these.)

This one had the hardest “Join the military” propaganda out of them all haha And it had a good effect. Revenge of the Fallen has to be my favorite of the Bayverse transformers and not because of the above fact, though it was cool. It’s everything great about it!

Did you notice, when Ravage’s pet jumped through the soldier’s chest his guts were spilling out on the edge of the camera as it pushed past him. It’s one of those blink and you’ll miss it details. Nasty piece of work

this film was made during 2007-2008 writers guild of america strike, hence the bad writing, the script was not finished, the WGA strike forced the production to start filming with only a 14 page story treatment and a rushed three-week writing window before writers joined the picket line.

A fact about Peter Cullen you might like: When he talked to his brother Larry, who was an actual military, about him auditioning to portray a talking truck, at the moment he mentioned he was a leader and a hero, Larry changed his gaze and gave him a tip that sticked forever: "Be strong enough to be kind". And I think thats what Optimus represents for so many people and why so many relate to him. Not only being a badass character but also showing that soft side without appearing to be weak. Also I loved what you did at the end with the critics, because I think sometimes people can get very heavily carried away by what they say and they dont see the bigger picture or they go completely opposite and try to complicate things that shine because of their simplicity. And especially if you review some older movies it will be very interesting what the people back then said about the movie and how times change how we perceive them. I remember my mom saying how scary The Exorcist was back then when it came out, and when we watched it together some years ago she didnt know why it was so scary back then. A full perspective switch with the same movie in different times

I whole heartedly believe that the reason the cgi looks so incredible during the pre- 2010(ish) movies is because: The studios got actually enough time too make it properly detailed, aswell as just pure passion for what they were working with. I think the shift is showcased really well going through the marvel movies. Say Iron-man 2 and 3. The armour's look so godamn realistic like you could touch them. while later on it becomes too "fake". There is nothing too ground it. Thats what the later transformers movies suffered from aswell. They lost the: "it kinda could be realistic" aspect Incredible reaction as always

You make a point in the beginning about the Autobots not walking around their own hangar when they're getting their formals, but I have to wonder if the biggest reason could be budgeting. Since they must've blew their loads on the expensive cars, explosions, and traveling expenses around the globe. Not to mention all the cool cgi elsewhere so they could put more/bigger Transformers on screen; to pull more people in and ignore the infamous sequel curse. It must've been easier during exposition to just put the cars on screen instead of animate humanoids like the prior Bumblebee garage scene, or like the new Appliancebots walking through the house earlier. 🤔

Fun thing, if you watch at 2:12:51, during the explosions, you can see on Megan Fox an error of compositing. Some "explosions" are composited in front of her and we can see the corner of the video they used
