That scene… my goodness… what a great way of showing impact and even with such short onscreen presence!

I loved going into this and being able to talk about all the reasons why this game and writers did what they did. Including the universally beloved Carter character. Again, I go into the writing with this and the reason why things are they are! You can catch these during certain scenes and then I flush it out in the post review watch.

I also have firm words for all the haters in the intro and post review watch, please bear with me as I vent the stupidity and discourse online. Absolutely TIT sandwiches.

Now I’ve covered part 2, I will be playing up until this part so F*ck yeah! This currently is my game of the year. I love it so far and from what I’ve learnt in this part and I did feel a little push in a certain direction should we say. We know why! Yeah, I still have the same verdict!

Finished it last night. Liked it but didn't love it. When it was great it was really great but it dragged in a lot of places. The "open world" parts really held it back imo. If this was just a linear set piece driven campaign it would've been even better. Sidenote: Couldn't stand that Daan Riggs character. Cole Train from Wish. Felt nothing but relief when he died because I knew we wouldn't have to see him again lol.

I get that. Can you see why they had to push him more to make you feel something when he did go. It's interesting seeing the writing pillars and the effort to make you feel something later on. I love it. His scene really got to me but like I said in those scenes, the filmmaking techniques made it.

Another banger! Glad you are enjoying the ride. Always a fun watch. To expand on the discource You mentioned you saw the burnt peanut laughing at the grey scene for no reason, it was because she is a woman in the commander role which sounds stupid but its really that shallow. Going as far as to call her ugly. Its performative for thier audience. They rated the game zero on the narrative and another in their group said it was "Entirely awuful, theres nothing to enjoy here" after finishing the game. To put it simply mate all the complaints around mags being forced around women being too much and marcus being sidlined is coming from everything you have seen in part 1, not part 2. All the negatives stem from there. Alongside complaints the series is too emotional (Using mockery like tears or war or Estrogen day ect ect) which after you watch 2 and 3 will tell you how uniformed that point is. There has been a strong hate campaign from right extremists groups that mark down the game as betraying its male fanbase by having women in positions of power (seriously) or just having them centered at all. Mags having an inhaler, a partner that isnt a man and making a quip at lucas (the "balls drop" line in her apartment) has been the crux of all of it and thats not an exaggeration. They say she is a token diabled gay black woman who takes over the entire story. I appreciate you giving it a fair look however trust me as someone who has been badgering you for months on gears and has played since 2008, these guys are very much pretending to be fans to push an agenda and grift views for money. To give you an example but one of many, Mags is proclaimed to have her relationship forced down the audiences throat, not with bravo with the woman in that picture from her apartment. If you can see how crazy that is to say given the rest of the game im sure it paints a picture. She never mentiones the photo again to my knowledge. There are things worth critising from myself who adored the game, sometimes wonky delivery on lines some flat acting here and there and loke you said, a few too many dead ringer lines. But you wont get this from the "Gears is for men no girls aloud especially if they are black and gay". Im so glad you are enjoying it and posting reactions. Cant wat for pt 3! One of my fav scenes from the entire series is in there.

Grifters then! I hate that it affects the developers and the future of an IP. Like I said in the video, they need bending over and given a pegging. That will nut the nut. I love this game so far and yeah, Game of the year for me currently. Looking forward to seeing your favourite cutscene!

I got mine from the UK mate, Richer Sounds in Tunbridge Wells. They were 1200 sheets but I got them slightly cheaper due to a discount. They are currently 999 sheets, that's good! Best headset I've ever used but, they need an EQ. I use two!! Secondly, I purchased a strap mod headband from Malaysia and now, they are the dogs B*llocks. If you purchase them, I'll send you all the links and my EQ's to make them sound exactly like mine. Saying that, use mine as a guide to then make something more appealing to your taste. P.S. I plug them into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 but you can use another one, it just works for my MIC. Any other questions, ask away.

Hey man. Glad you’re enjoying the game. I’m not even British but even I know that calling it the dogs bollocks is a compliment. As far as the haters surrounding one particular character, everybody’s reading way too much into it. It’s like oh they’re trying to push some kind of gender or whatever. Trust me I’ve seen games that tried to push an agenda. This is not it. Well, I’m on the subject or of the graphics. I’m not fortunate enough to be able to run the Ludacris reliably without some upscaling, but I’m on mostly ultra with some things turned up to Ludacris and the one thing that impressed me off the jump was when somebody pops a smoke grenade. It’s not like before where it’s just OK. There’s a bunch of mist in the air but if you look at it from the source, the smoke actually pillows and circulates. That’s something I haven’t seen before. The game doesn’t seem to be doing particularly well in the sales department, which is unfortunate because like you said this is probably one of the best gears games I’ve played in years. Is it perfect? Of course not. Nothing is. But I’m not just gonna say that all of the immense fun and bad ass moments mean nothing because of one or two little nitpics like some people do

Honestly from playing Gears 1 through 4 and most of 5 (and rewatching them recently), Mags character fits very well in the squad for a Gears game narrative wise. As you pointed out she can step up so Marcus can have the story moments of weakness to grow into the character we know from the original games. But she is also in the unique role that is there to speak out when the military is making stupid decisions because she experienced leading people and tell how the COG doesn't care about the individuals because she lived it. To me it makes sense narrative wise and I bet that if it was a guy instead then there wouldn't be all the complaints. As for all of the discourse? It seems a lot like when Last of Us Part 2 released. There was one side that was loud about the game for similar reasons. Ellie having a girlfriend, Abby being strong, etc. The other side is complaining that the game isn't a reskinned version of the games they remember playing with the addition that the multiplayer isn't the same as a game released over 10 years ago. The Mags photo that some people seem very upset about? I'm much further in the game and it has not been brought up again at all. All it says when reading the note on the collectable is that it was a good day and that the harmonica was from her dad. Nothing about who the other person in the photo actually is. With Grey's character I am former military and I have personally met a few women in power like Grey. So anyone saying that is unrealistic or would never happen absolutely have no idea what they are talking about. You know besides the fact that it's a fictional story on a completely different fictional planet with its own fictional history that has us fighting monsters coming up from underground. So it is weird to try constricting it to reality in the first place.

It's really simple with the Mags/Marcus thing. Marcus hit his head and was having a REALLY BAD DEEP moment. Mags being a former SQUAD LEADER who took the fall for a bad op during the war, realized Marcus' cover story was BS and had him tell his story. Mags was just filling in for the moment Marcus couldn't fill his role and essentially told him to get his shit together. Everything else around this just need to be dead and buried. Just about done with Act 4 and LOVING IT. Love the reactions mate, keep it up.

Dude it seems like damn near any game that has women in it nowadays causes some form of discourse and it is so frustrating. Especially when you want to bring a genuine criticism to a game and you get lumped in with the chuds with those view points. also you can tell the people who know nothing of gears lore when they complain about female characters in gears. Helena Stroud, Anya Stroud, Bernadette Mataki, Samantha Byrne, and Sofia Hendrik. Not to mention Queen Myrrah

also you should check out the books or even the audio books which are narrated by Anyas voice actor then you could get some context for Aspho fields and such
