This has got to be the best example/project I have ever seen of a REMAKE, wow!

I wish, just wish… Soul Reaver could have something like this done. I’d drag my bare arse cheeks across grade 40 sandpaper to see that happen.

This is a love letter to the franchise and what I would call, a sign of respect to the fans. If you would have told me, the developers of this game are or were OG fans of this title, I’d believe you. It’s absolutely wonderful and it feels it too which is important.

Remember, I’m a cold-caller, an outsider looking through the window when it comes to this franchise yet it’s crystal clear to see. No dirty storefront here.

Mate, you could do a case study on this and any Remake going forward needs to know what a developer/studio should be doing when it comes to handling a franchise/project with care.

It also helps that the story is amazing, simple at best but it gives you those highs, those lows and everything in-between to flush out the worldbuilding yet, still keep you in the dark. Those cards are firmly close to the chest.

I’m not sure if it was this edit by Game Movie Studio7 but did the story really just brush over Claire looking for her brother? Once sherry came onboard the story train, Chris was really forgotten about which is okay, it works but I didn’t hear anything else regarding the core reason why she was in Racoon city in the first place.

I mention this in the post-review watch. Again, could be this edit but just a line from Leon would have worked to bookmark it for a rainy day so to speak.

What a blast, literally the video starts with one and what a night! I love me a night to remember but this all-nighter, gave me a whole lot more flesh than I was expecting. Trust me, I love me some baps.

Utterly brilliant, gore-tastic and I now cannot wait to see Resident Evil 3. I’m guessing that is our next stop, right?

Play the Tape!

Kai

P.S. Please let me know about Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. I discuss this in the intro and outro.

P.P.S. Yes, I did tell haters in the post review watch to suck my COREY. British slang, look it up if you don’t know what it is. It sounds like what you think it is.

LFGGGG, 3make is the next. it happens concurrently with re2

Jess Landry

Personally, I'd wait for the remake of Veronica because they are kind of setting up new cannon with the remakes, so it'll be better for continuity in what you're watching. Code:veronica is like.... its a weird one mate. Can't imagine what they're gonna need to change to make it work lol

AgentRedShirt

About what you said about the remake how it modernized it, but it didn’t venture too far away. There are a couple new areas at the original didn’t have but for the most part like for example if you look and there’s a couple of them out there the comparison video for the intro sequence from the original to the remake? It’s almost 1 to 1. Obviously simpler, but I love the fact that they actually paid homage to the original title. Dammit Kai. Making me wanna go through and replay this game again now that I have a PC that’s actually above what my minimum specs could barely juggle along at the time of release. The one you’re thinking about was called Veronica. Originally it was a dream cast title. And because of the jump and performance over the PlayStation to the Dreamcast, the big thing there was the character models were much larger and more lifelike than they ever could do on the PS1 even with the CGI Also a little fun fact for you. Mr. X, as the bio weapon was affectionately referred to. On PC somebody came up with a mod where every time he entered the scene, the music would switch to “X gon’ give it to ya” from DMX

WraithBringer

Apologies I've been away for a little while, does this mean no Silent Hill 2? Did Resident Evil win the battle?? Couldn't find any results.

Zoozee

Thank you, thank you, thank you Kai, you did it again! I was having a total crap day and you just saved it.💪Watching you being your silly self always cheers me up. You have no idea how much your content lightens up, some of my darkest days, so from the bottom of my ol' millennial heart; thank you for being you.🙏

AgentRedShirt

Oh also, totally separate, which is the reason for the separate comment. One thing I forgot to mention. In the original because the PlayStation system limitations I’m assuming if you just ran through an area, dodging the zombies and exited through a door you were safe. However, in this one, zombies learned how to open doors. They will follow you.

PeppaShrekky

For Veronica I'd hold off until the Remake comes out sometime next year. As long as you watch it before 5 then you should be fine I believe

Jonah

Awesome man! I sometimes forget just how much I LOVE Resident Evil. I'd say wait for Veronica remake honestly, and on a similar note, RE3 remake does cut a decent chunk of stuff from the original. I think it's still probably better for you to watch but just bear it in mind some bits might feel like there's something missing!

TrueForm

Yes Kai, these games are pretty short. For a first run, youre probably going to take 5-10 hours, but they actually have speed rankings to encourage you to speedrun it. I think S+ is like an hour 30 minutes for one run or something, but people have gotten it as low as around 30 minutes if you go fast enough.

monsters2312

I think you should definitely wait for code veronica’s remake it’s going to be well worth it

Kain D. Zero

Finally I'm able to make a time jump so to speak and able to comment on your new reactions. Here we go.

Kain D. Zero

I've been waiting for Code Veronica Remake for ages. The OG Code Veronica is the most difficult main title RE game in my opinion. One reason being you can't choose a difficulty at all. It's as difficult to everyone who plays it.

Kain D. Zero

Resident Evil 3 is definitely the next RE you should react to but the remake leaves out many cool stuff. There are other things most fans dislike too but can't talk about them without giving spoilers.

Kain D. Zero

Speaking of Until Dawn (Teenagers in the woods). I have only played the original Until Dawn. The remake/remaster you watched doesn't have the original musical score which sucks like hell. The main theme "Oh Death" is an iconic song. You were missing out. That same song has many different versions in other games like Until Dawn. The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry are some games you can check out too but I can't really recommend them since they are not in the same league as Until Dawn.

Kain D. Zero

Those things in the sewers. If you didn't have ammo you could try to kill it with the knife and with grenades.

Kain D. Zero

The embryos of the G virus monsters do burst out like face huggers victims.

Kain D. Zero

Code Veronica continues Claire's journey basically immediately after this game's events.

Kain D. Zero

Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine from RE1.

Kain D. Zero

Still to this day G virus is the most powerful and dangerous virus version invented for RE games and that is due to the fact that it keeps regenerating and mutating.

Kain D. Zero

In the original RE2 it's shown how William Birkin plants the G virus into Sherry after turning into the monster. In this remake the implantation happens off screen during the orphanage section.

Kain D. Zero

Lara Croft and Tomb Raider 1 was before Resident Evil 2.

Kain D. Zero

Because of how this video was edited together you saw Sherry's dad William Birkin in the beginning. If the editor had followed the order or cinematics based on the game and not the chronolical order you would have seen William Birkin video tape at approximately at 50 mins

Kain D. Zero

When Sherry and Claire ran into the elevator in part one William Birkin destroyed one Mr.X (Dolp lookalike) by ripping it in half. The one in the lab section is another of the same model. Multiple were dropped into Raccoon City by Umbrella.

Kain D. Zero

You will see more of Sherry in Resident Evil 6

Kain D. Zero

This game has a VR mod for Steam. It was an awesome experience to play through.

Kain D. Zero

Annette always dies in the end and in both Story A and B

Kain D. Zero

Speaking about Soul Reaver what first deserves a remake is Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. It also deserves a Live Action movie.

Kain D. Zero

Yes. It's Ada that gives Leon the rocket launcher at the end. It's more clear in the original Resident Evil 2. Ada has a similar grappling hook as the Final Fantasy characters had in the Gongaga reacter section in Resident Evil Rebirth. Ada used her grappling hook to survive the fall.

Kain D. Zero

Awesome. The maker of this video included The Hunk DLC. When the Hunk scenario begins it's not the main game part but a separate DLC. About Resident Evil 9. We were supposed to believe that Hunk from this DLC was the same Hunk in RE9. (The Commander) When we win him we can get his axe and it's called Grim Reaper.

oLaudix

The reason there are continuity errors and why it's a bit confusing (like Annette being present in both Leon's and Claire's stories) is because there are actually 4 campaigns in this game. The game uses an A/B scenario system, meaning there are two different campaign combinations: Leon A + Claire B, and Claire A + Leon B. Basically, in one version Leon is the main character who goes through the police station first, while Claire follows behind him. In the other version, it's the opposite. Claire goes first and Leon follows her. Both characters are experiencing the same outbreak at roughly the same time but from different perspectives. The idea is that you play one character's A campaign and then the other character's B campaign to experience the complete story. The B campaign isn't simply a replay with a different character. It represents what the second character was doing while the first character was progressing through the story. That's why the B campaigns have different beginnings. For example, the first character enters the police station through the main entrance, while the second character starts outside the station and enters through the side. The second character also encounters Mr. X much earlier, has different puzzle solutions and item placements, and eventually gets access to the true final boss and ending. The important thing is that Leon A + Claire B and Claire A + Leon B are two alternative ways of experiencing the story. You're not supposed to combine Leon A and Claire A into one continuous timeline, because both are the first scenario from their respective versions of events. For example, if you combine two A campaigns, you'll see both Leon and Claire entering the police station first, both experiencing certain encounters as though they were the first person there, and both progressing through puzzles and areas that the other character supposedly already dealt with. This can make events appear to happen twice or in the wrong order. The original Resident Evil 2 from 1998 actually took this system further. Its A and B campaigns were more interconnected, with some events and decisions in the first scenario affecting the second one. The remake simplified this quite a bit, so even the intended A/B combinations aren't perfectly consistent but the basic idea of the four campaigns is still there. So the reason the story might seem contradictory in this video is that the person who made it appears to have mixed footage from Leon A and Claire A, rather than showing one of the intended A/B combinations. You're essentially watching parts of two alternative versions of the story woven together, which naturally makes some events confusing.

PeppaShrekky

And I assume you were already planning on doing this but stick with the same channel for RE3 Remake

Kain D. Zero

Also don’t listen to the haters of RE6 because there are a lot of them. Many consider it to be the worst RE game in the whole franchise even though games like RE: Operation Raccoon City exist. I personally love RE6. It has a story which has many campaigns with different styles. I loved every single one.

oLaudix

RE6 had to fail so we could get RE7

Kain D. Zero

It didn’t fail for me and I am never going to be able to see the game through the eyes who see it as a failure. Did it have irritating QTE events? Yes. Did it go over the top and over the hill? Yes. Still it was very entertaining to me. :)

Jay

Can't wait for 3 Remake!! and yes i too vote to wait on Veronica versus experiencing the original first.

gaMerfUll

Don't know if anyone already mentioned it, but it's not the only time you've asked about them random green plants around. Those are natural plants from the RE universe that can heal everything and anything that happens during gameplay. You get shot? Pop an herb. Got pierced by something?? Pop an herb. Got bitten and a chunk is missing?? Pop that herb. Every bone in your body is broken with 1HP? Pop it. Your skin burned off?? Spray that herb. Was your hand cut off??? Well... guess it works. So yeah, they're very highlighted and visible, because they're the health of these games.

LimitlessEntertainment

RE3 Remake would be next. Yes, the game has a lot of haters but the cinematic are by far the best part of the game so the bad things about the game you will not notice. I believe CODE Veronica comes after 3 but I would wait until the remake. I think after RE3 Remake, it would be fine to jump into RE4 as it is pretty much completely unrelated to CODE Veronica. Honestly hope you do RE games at a quicker pace, it's quickly became my favorite game franchise over the past year or so!

G Lord Robinson

Re3 remake was ehhhhhh something, but there is still some fun to be had with it I think you’ll enjoy it. I agree with you tho sir re2 remake is perhaps the gold standard for a remake, which is crazy cause it did cut some stuff out from the original resident evil 2 but it doesn’t come across as rushed it’s all so perfectly paced

EthanR

Should definitely cover 3 Remake next as it follows Jill's perspective of the Raccoon City incident, and it occurs at almost the same time as Leon and Claire are traversing the City themselves. Next should be 4 Remake which is years later and is a continuation of Leon's story. There is also a DLC called Seperate Ways you should cover but either watch a video that combines them or look it up afterwards to avoid spoilers for the main game. I would not cover 5 or 6 yet however as they're stories are directly connected to each other and 5 benefits from experiencing Code Veronica first. There are also the Revaltions spinoffs with the first being set before 5 and the second being another Claire game so it would be best seen after Veronica. I would say after 4 you could go in a few directions, watch RE0 which is a prequel to 1, Watch 7 & 8 which are almost entirely seperate with only a few core series references, or finally do the CGI movies which are pretty good but can get absolutely ridiculous in both positive and negative ways

Fsaitza

Hey Kai so since youre so eager to continue the saga, I can tell you that Code Veronica it happens months later after Racoon City with Claire, so it doesnt impact what happens in RE3 or 4, so you can watch those without any worries. And also, dont forget you also have the animated movies, which are definetely worth to watch. The first one you can see it after RE4, so there is a lot you can still cover before Code Veronica launches Also, the Umbrella operative is designated HUNK, which means literally Human Unit Not Killed, because he is known in Umbrella for always being the only survivor of his team, which makes him a true legend. Its more like DLC type of character more than a recurrent one in the story, but its a cool one nonetheless. But you will see some of the characters and monsters come back in later titles, so be expectant

Mabyon

I don't remember the reds being this bright during my playthrough i.e. tomato blood, but yeah great video nonetheless would say wait for the Veronica Remake prob do re3 remake next, sadly its a bit on the weaker side

DeathXWarfare

Can't wait for you to react to all these games! I dearly love Resident Evil and also can't wait for you to react to the Resident Evil movie that recently came out, its a stand alone thing but it takes place in Raccoon City so this game is really the only prior knowledge you would need if you wanted to relate to it a bit

DeathXWarfare

(Second comment) Yes I do think you should wait for the Code Veronica remake to react to it, Veronica is basically Resident Evil 3 in the timeline, it takes place 3 months after the events of this game from Claires perspective on the search for her brother Chris. (The actual Resident Evil 3 takes place alongside Resident Evil 2 so you could place it as a Resident Evil 2.5 in the timeline)

DeathXWarfare

Next up for the Resident Evil series (apart from the movie) definitely go ahead and continue onto the re3 remake and re4 remake. Like I said before re3 takes place alongside Resident Evil 2 and the main character is a returning character that you'll remember from Resident Evil 1. Then Re4 continues Leons story.

Jack_Fish

Loving these and the way this Game works and how it's intertwined with both campaigns from how I remember you are given the choice at the start of the game to do Leon's or Claires then you are strictly that character for the rest of the story you never change to the other mc. Then after you complete the game you are given an option B. For example if you played the campaign as Leon you are given the option of Claire scenario B where her story would actually change quite a bit from her original as in gameplay wise and cutscene wise and would overall kind of be a different story but it feels that leon was actually there before you like in the leon run you could have picked up an item then in Claires b it wouldn't be there and it's vice versa the other way round. If you did Claires campaign first then she would be the one in the RPD and leon would be on the outside the gate trying to get in. Quite a complicated way to do it but still very very cool

Jack_Fish

And I am so excited for RE 4 remake my personal favourite in the series RE 3 is also very good just there's a lot of discourse surrounding it which I personally don't understand i think the games great. I think it's because they changed / cut a lot from the original but I'm not to sure

Denis Farcas

Can't wait for RE4 Remake. It's one of the best in the series and it continues Leon's story

Horatio Williams

Oh my god you’re so right about people caring way too much about these virtual characters. Like if they’re using characters as a reason to be racist, bigoted cunts that’s one thing. But acting like some pixels need defending for a harmless, naughty joke does my head in
