Cobra Kai Black Belts, please can I have a recommendation for the next long form content. *Only one recommendation each please. [Feature length movies, YouTube features, short films, documentaries or an episode for a TV show.]

The last feature film Halo Forward Unto Dawn is available right now if you've missed it and it is on the Patreon. All content is in watch along format meaning you will need to sync up with me.

There is a YouTube version coming of Halo Forward Unto Dawn (35 minute video) and it will also be posted on here for you to enjoy.

I look forward to what you guys want me to watch.

Kai

P.S. I will be private messaging you too regarding this post. OSSU!

Oof this is a tough one. Well I'll go with the first one that popped into my head and that's Gantz:0 (zero). It's a really neat CGI anime movie that's on Netflix.

Skeletan

Gantz is a damn fine suggestion, so, to diversify, let's say Ran (1985) by the legendary Akira Kurosawa!

I would recommend the first episode of Blue Eye Samurai (well, really I'd recommend all of it, but one episode at a time, y'know?). It's an amazing show that just came out in November, and the Rotten Tomatoes score speaks for itself (96% audience rating). Netflix was so confident of its success (for good reason) that they put the entire first episode up on YouTube to view for free. It was honestly one of the best things I've seen, and it earned a spot in my top 10 shows all time. The animation, the story, the characters, everything about it is excellent and you can tell there was great passion that went into it. https://youtu.be/EjTIWhJ7gEE?si=xTSs0DSBbtgqX0wQ Here's a short video showcasing the "Making of" Blue Eye Samurai; I thought it was really neat that they choreographed all of the fights in live action before translating into the animation. They also made all of the animators take basic Martial Arts classes and basic sword practice so that they would better understand what it feels like to swing a sword. I think you would especially appreciate the hybrid live action workflow that they outline in that short "Making of" video above. Anyways, if you check it out, I think you would absolutely be enthralled. Plus I figured it'd be a suitable suggestion considering the naming convention of your Patreon tiers (Black Belt, etc). Fingers crossed you check it out

"The Creator" is visually stunning and has excellent cinematography, however I personally found myself torn away at points due to plot holes and overdone cliches. But it was visually stunning, at least.

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

Oh really!? I want to see it eventually because I'm aware it's filmed on a small non-cinema camera. I want to see how it holds up cinematography wise.

Onearmy

Yeah, what they accomplished with the camera that was used was phenomenal. From a cinematography standpoint, I give it an A. From a story/plot standpoint though, probably a C

Onearmy

It's actually not a Japanese production, English is the original language as it's an American production (though it was animated by a French studio). I wouldn't really consider this anime; in one of the "Making of" videos, the producers talk about why it isn't really anime. It's kind of in the same vein as "Arcane". They took a very "live action" approach in regards to the camera and treating it like an actual object and the end result is just great. Maya Erskine, Brenda Song, George Takei, and Kenneth Branagh (yes, from Dunkirk and Oppenheimer) provide some absolute standout voice performances and really bring their characters to life in my opinion. But yeah, the original audio is English, so that's what I'd recommend

Josh Epstein

I've only watched it Subbed. I typically watch anime subbed, but there's a few out there I prefer dubbed (like Full Metal Alchemist).

My recommendation is for Light Up The Night, by The Protomen a crowd funded music video that is more a short film than music video. Taking heavy inspiration from Blade Runner and other sci-fi classics it was filmed on location in New York and with somewhat well known actors.

Im new here, hope everyone having a great day! I would love to see you react to style. There is a movie, cheesy but yet very epic. The movie 300, it might be one of my most favorite movie just becuse its so diffrent, then yes im abit bias towards ancient greece :D

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

Hey Mixen! Thank you for being here and thank you for the recommendation. I know of 300, can't say I've seen it. Not that I remember and especially not since doing what I do now, a fulltime filmmaker. Thank you for the support and I'm glad I can start bringing movie content to you guys.

Trey Rodriguez

Dunkirk! It’s one of my favorite movies to watch and it almost always makes me tear up when I watch it. Always have been a big Nolan head but I’d love for you to maybe do a video on it in the future. I’m not well educated to appreciate Nolan's films fully but you make learning things about film so easy and fun for me to understand. Anyways love your videos man you’ve gotten me into film keep up the great work.
