I love you both! Thank you!

Blaine

🔥🔥 So glad you chose this one!

lee eames

Great, didn't expect this.😊😊😊

Blackwargreymon00

Please react to The Raid Redemption (2011) 🙏 It is very similar to the Dredd movie

chris brown

Great choice looking forward to this

John West

Dread is when you fear someone or something.

lee eames

Dredd is not based on the Raid. The script by Alex Garland was completed around 2008-2009 and filming started November 2010, 4 months before the The Raid began filming, although The Raid was released first. It's just a coincidence how similar they are.

Damn this gun be goood 😎

Dajefe70

Love this movie! It's a crime that there was never a sequel made, even Karl Urban has said he wanted to play the role again. I guess it's because it didn't do well in theaters.

Mark W

Now we are F***ing talkin!! Here, here 🍺🍺🍺 beers for whoever requested this!

Hello Munchies ! Well, this one is a surprise !! I knew some people asked for it, but still surprised! That's gonna be fun to see you discovered this "messed-up" universe and his most uncomprimising judges. You know Dredd's actor. He's Karl Urban. you saw him as Eomer in LOTR, Skurge the executionner in Thor ragnarök and he has a huge role in "the boys" TV show (if you know it. Not sure this show is for you tbh with you). About Lena Headdey (aka Cersei), this is not your first movie (outside of GOT) with her . I'm not sure you remember, but she was also in "300". she was the spartan queen. But this movie really does justice to Headdey's Cersei mindset when acting! Wow , Chi saying "there's too much blood !" Is Evil chi in holiday today ?😅 But evil Hella did came instead "don't make me want to hold a gun !!"🤣 "This place look like a slum" yes ! but it's partially inspired by a chinesse "town" who looked very like this: Kowloon Walled City , Hong-Kong. The place is now destroyed. but if you want to see a real city who look exactly like a place Judge Dredd will be in...There it was. 50 000 people in 2.6 km² . It was destroyed in 1990's. now it's a parc 😅. It was no lies about the bomb. By throwing her down the building, she got out of range for the signal to activate the bomb. Best scene of the movie ( and Hella nailled it): "Im the law " and "for your Ma-Ma, Judgement Time". so badass !!!! For Your intell: "This movie is like a game". no, like a comic book !!!😜 This movie is based on the comicbook "Judge Dredd". (I never actually read one, but I had one in hands in a store and I knew about it before.). The concept is like the movie is showing. a futuristic world with criminality and corruption being so huge, they called the police judges and they are both judges, jury and executionners armed with those guns who can just shoot all kind of bullet/projectiles ! (and they kill a lot !! too much criminals in this universe, easier and quicker to execute them on spot... ) Dredd is a specail kind, because he was created to be the perfect judges ( I mean Bio-enginered human), that's is why he's acting more like a machine than human (because it is what he is and was made to be). And yes, in comics, he never take his helmet off !! we may never saw his real face in comics ! never! The comics is as violent as the movie. I remembered a page in the comic I had in hand, he was riding his bike at full speed holding a criminal by the neck and putting his face (thanks god in a helmet) in the floor! That's Judge dredd for you !! They didn't explain it in the movie. Anderson's gun explode in the guy's hand because there's a security on it. Her DNA is encrypted in the gun. Only her could use it , nobody else, not even another judge. You saw what happen if they try. so no psychic power on this one, just a gun made to explode if anyone except his owner is using it!! They also made a movie "Judge Dredd" in 1995 with Sylvester Stallone (aka Rocky !!). but they Broke the rules "we must not see his face"...( of course, they're not gonna have Stallone hide his face...). In the end, thanks Munchies for this one!! yes very violent (but accurate to the source material enough), but so good to follow. really like looking a comic book coming alive. it was very fun watching it with you ! Thanks again! Have a good day, Munchies !!

Chris

It's the 20th anniversary of Pan's Labyrinth this year. Would be a great movie for you gals to react to. :) And Hella should definitely watch it because I'm sure she'll love it. Cheers!

lee eames

Anderson doesn't quit. She's one of the main characters in the comic's.

Andrew

12:00 Cozy Hela is a vibe

King Bob

ah...think i prefer the Rocky version lol

Andrew

30:00 now DOUBLE cozy vibe

Andy

I love when it's just Chi and Hella

Judge Dredd first appeared in 1977 in the British comic anthology 2000 AD, the Judge Dredd (or 2000 AD) comic is meant as a satire of authoritarianism, police brutality and fascism while also just being cool science fiction books, you may notice that Dredd actor Karl Urban delivers his lines a bit like Clint Eastwood, well Judge Dredd was sort of a reaction to cop films like Dirty Harry in particular. The film RoboCop was heavily inspired by Judge Dredd comic books as that is also a satire on American law enforcement, the characters even look similar, writer Ed Neumeier was a huge fan of the comic books. Judge Dredd is a great character because he cannot be bargained with, he cannot be corrupted, he can be a great hero or a villain depending on which side of the law you are on, and in this society the law can be quite unfair, fair trials don't exist anymore and it's up to the judges to be judge, jury and executioner, as you said he is quite savage, he will put his body on the line to help innocent people but he's not above sentencing someone to 6 months in the iso cubes (their version of jail, basically an isolated prison cell meant to break your spirit) for littering. When Dredd throws Ma-ma out of the window he's taking a gamble, the detonator is absolutely real but Dredd thinks that if she is far enough away from the explosives it won't go off, he is right thankfully, but I think he is incapable of letting a criminal on Mama's level go, even to save potential lives, it's just not in his code. Dredd almost never removes his helmet, symbolizing the “facelessness of justice.” As creator John Wagner put it, justice has no soul, you don’t need to see the man behind the badge. Anyway great reaction ladies, hopefully one day we get another film or TV show that explores more of the world of Judge Dredd as there are many many comics and as great as this film is it's a fairly simple well-made action movie so it doesn't really touch on a lot of the lore.

Mark W

you know what, I agree!

Rob Pitt

Not seen this in years, was fun watching it again with you two :) Maybe one day you'll watch the original Judge Dredd film - that one's more fun and light compared to how dark this one was

animalsoul

for me only the movie judge dredd with stallone exists ;)

Scott Amos

Chi would be got at this job

TylerNorCal

This was ok, the cgi and style is a bit dated tho. Would've been better with practical effects.

Digitalversager

Dredd is such an awesome movie. It had all the ingredients to be a hit, unfortunately, it didn't quite make it. I like the world-building with its more "show, don't tell" approach and the level of violence. A movie like Dredd must have an R rating. It's a real shame there weren't any sequels; Dredd could have become an interesting franchise. You ladies, of course, immediately recognized Lena Headey (Cerci), and she also plays a bad Ma Ma in this movie. The actor who plays Judge Dredd is Karl Urban; you recognize him from The Lord of the Rings (Éomer) and Thor: Ragnarok (Skurge). By the way, there's also a Dredd movie from the '90s with Judge Dredd (1995). In that movie, Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) plays Judge Dredd, and he even takes off his helmet. The movie isn't as good as this one, but it's a fun watch. It has plenty of '90s cheesiness and a few good one-liners. I always smile when I hear Stallone scream, "I am the law." 😅 Maybe Judge Dredd (1995) would be a good candidate for an follow up reaction, as research and a comparison to see which movie is better.😉 This was a great reaction, as always, ladies.💜

chris brown

Great reaction, to a great movie. The biggest crime is this movie doesn't have a sequel

K

Nice. Havent watched yet but this is a great choice. It's a very unique movie.

Steven

Karl Urban plays Judge Dredd. You've seen the actor in other films. In Lord of the Rings he played Eomer, one of the main riders of Rohan, and he also played Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok. He's been in a lot of films and TV, but I think his best character has been BILLY BUTCHER in a TV show called THE BOYS. You ladies recognized Lena Headey right away even though they tried to make her look ugly. Failed! Are you familiar with the term TYPE-CASTING? This is the term we use when an actor plays a type of role so well that they are stuck playing that type of role forever. ALEX GARLAND wrote this film based on a comic book, but he has become a really good director. I think his films are definitely worth watching. 28 DAYS LATER EX MACHINA ANNIHILATION

Looney

"I am the law!!!" I have never seen this version. I've heard it's good but only ever watched the Stallone Judge Dredd. Will definitely check this one out with the Movie Munchies.

Rob Pitt

It was basically made for 3d, if watched on a 3rtv or in the cinema with glasses, it looked incredible. Example of a film choosing the format then being designed around it

Stefan Williams

The gun has a DNA ID on it. if its not a Judge weilding it, it will explode.

Victor Herrera

Lol I agree, I was like why is Darth Chi/Chi Wick/Evil Chi... so squeamish this time...she's seen worse and cheered for violence before lol 😆 😅 😂

Gaëtarrow

Which one is better? I'll directly say "Dredd" because it's way more accurate to the source material ( mainly, the "don't show the face"). But I like Alan Silvestri score for the 1995 one. So I guess it depends what you look for. A badass accurate to the comics with action and thriller/suspense: you take Dredd A pure 90's action hero movie with both some comedy and action but taking liberties and being a little cheesy sometimes: you take Stallone's judge Dredd.

Snick

I would highly recommend Ex Machina.

animalsoul

1995 movie is better 100% tastes are different

tommy23

I forgot how much they copied this movie in The Raid:Redemption, and the Raid 2 . But it doesn't matter. Both are wicked action flicks I'm sure you would dig! Keep on rockin

RichieBIV

They could have benefited from some background on this one; the afterthoughts were a little lost. Oh well, here's to the sequel🍿🍿
