Katie, the dress is lovely, but it's your presence that makes it unforgettable! Thank you for a weekend abundant with entertainment, girls. Much appreciated

POC will only ever be a trilogy to me. The same with LOTR.

Hello Munchies !! Welcome in the 5th and last one of the POTC ! (atleast for now, I heard a 6th is in preparation but no intell really meaningfull for now. we will see) It's also the only one, I never saw (lack of time and ...interest, to be honest.)But of course, I saw many little scene here and there .... So, I'm curious to see it with you. Le'ts go ! For the movie POTC was always a disney production. Wait, I though Davy Jones become fishy because he didn't respect his part of the curse. why is will becoming fishy too? Bonnet ? Stede Bonnet? the pirates who sailed with Balckbeard? OK...Cool to have little reference like that. The devil's triangle....Is that the Bermuda's triangle ? 😅 kaya scodelario is playing Carina. She's quite famous and have many movie in her career. But none you react to. How did he get in ? "that was not part of the plan" I believe him ! How ??? I'm with Ivy it's unbelievable! Wait Gibbs is leaving too?? that doesn't seems right. Blood moon is possible when a full lunar eclipse. the light passing throught the atmosphere is giving the sky a red tainted colour. Oh yes, the 2 soldier from the 3 first movies! Keehauling was a real things. throw the sailor under the ship, let the rope, the water and the pressure do the job. (some may survived, but you can guess, not in a good states...😅) Wait, in the second movie, Tia dalma clearly said she was the one who give him the compass! (or steal it in french)...why they changed that here? No no, they use another actor for young jack : Anthony De La Torre. No CGI. and yes, it look a lot like him ! That's impressive! Horologist= those who make Clock. But the pirates are really dumb.... (maybe too dumb in this one...) It was blackbeard who trapped the pearl. but as Barbossa have Blackbeard's magical sword...let's go. Redcoat are the nicknamed of the english army, because of their red uniform. "I've seen this scene somewhere. but in animation" Maybe you saw the prince of egypt. they copied the concept of the red sea. Yep, it doesn't look like a trident at all... And so die (again) one of the best character of POTC... OK, I'll be bad faith to say it's not heartwarming to see the old gang back and will and Elizabeth finally together for good. For the conclusion I think the lowest rating come mainly for the comedy. Ok it has very fun moment, but sometimes it was heavy. the "wedding scene", the Bank robbery and the execution rescue (with the guillotine making looping) are fun but too improbable or unbelievable... POTC already had "unbeleivable" thing but not much in the comedy. But most of the pirates feel just ....dumb! (even Gibbs, where we know he's not form the previous movies....) The story feel a little over-the-place too. Mainly in the begining. too many questions (the witch mainly) and the trident wasn't that hard to get...(as katie said). In the end, Katie had the right idea. the movie is mostly not that impressive compare to all the other one. and I thing many dislike Carina (I do personnaly). She feel too arrogant... I think she's one of those charaters created only to have a "strong female lead" (like Hollywood do a lot now) but trying to make her "strong" they made her unlikable. Elizabeth was strong but we could like her. With Carina, I don't know...she doesn'' feel sympathetic. she impose herself more than teaming up. (and I think the "barbossa's daughter" was too much of an easy writing" than actual story) and her motive ("why I do this") is light... and the "she's a wich" or her being smarter than everyone....It so much put in it, it feel more like the movie forced itself to be feminist. ok why not but do it fine! (again Elizabeth does it better in POTC 2 and 3 without forcing it or having to diminish her, even katie undrstand it). Now that's just my opinon... maybe a hot take... but I assume! Henry Feel better written. and we understand clearly his motive. (And I don't feel the same Chemistry between him and Carinna than Will and Elizabeth...) But killing Barbossa...NO! katie has a point. the Pearl must have only one captain. but still...hard to accept. In the end. It's not a bad movie! we can still enjoy it. but he's clearly the weaker one. but the fact it put a clear happy ending to everyone (except Barbossa). I'll put it in the catgory: "to have a fun time and ending the story for good". Anyway, it was a good time! Thanks for the discovery Munchies! Have a beautifull day !!

I have never quite understood why this movie gets criticized so harshly. I think it’s a good film. While the story isn't as epic as the original trilogy, it’s still solid. As for everything else, I can offer the same praise I give to all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies: the world-building is fantastic and well-expanded, the special effects are great, and, as always, Jack Sparrow is brilliant. My only real criticism is how they changed the lore surrounding the Flying Dutchman. For one thing, why does Will transform into a sea creature? After all, the transformation was explained by the fact that Davy Jones failed to fulfill his duties. At the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 3, we clearly saw that Will’s father, for instance, looked normal again once Will became captain. Secondly, why did it seem like he was afraid of someone, probably the crew, when young Henry was on the ship? He’s the captain; he really ought to be in control. Thirdly, they changed the ship's backstory. Being the captain wasn't a curse, but a noble, albeit tragic, duty. There must always be a captain of the Flying Dutchman to guide the souls of those who died at sea into the afterlife. I also think it would have made the ending less cheesy if it turned out that Will wasn't "freed" because he hadn't actually been cursed. It would have been much more bittersweet if Henry ultimately had to accept that his father must remain captain forever, but he had found the love of his life on the adventure. What I really liked was Captain Barbossa’s redemption. He was never a favorite character of mine, but I loved the last 20 minutes of the film, especially the sacrifice he made for his daughter. Great reaction as always, ladies! 💜

You forgot the compas's story too... In the 2, tia clearly said jack "bargain it from her" ( or in the french version, he stole it) here, a random captain is giving it to him out of nowhere? Plus how many times did he gave the compass to someone (Elizabeth in the 2, will in the 3, Gibbs in the 4), why it freed Salazar only know. Doesn't make sense either. I made my case why the movie feel inferior. But yeah, it's a good moment. But easy to forget compared to others.... If a 6th one is effectively done, we will see what will happen.

Digitalversager

Yeah, the whole compass thing is a bit of an issue, too. But the Flying Dutchman aspect bothers me the most, because retroactive changes like that often undermine the original story. It turned what was a massive sacrifice, made out of desperation at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 to save Will’s life and stop Davy Jones, from an eternal duty that could only end in death into a simple curse that can be broken.

Gaëtarrow

yeah....And they skipped the post-credit scene... Where they made the idea that Davy Jones is back.... So it's almost like the 2-3rd movie never happened.... Not a good thing either! I think it's the thing that pissed the most the fans....

The skeleton in the bar joke is a bad joke, but I'll help you out. The skeleton walks into a bar and asks for a beer and a mop. It's a skeleton, so anything it drinks will just hit the floor and that is why the skeleton also wants a mop--to clean up the spill. On a more serious note, there is potential for one more movie in the franchise. Nothing is official, but there is a screenplay being developed, Johnny Depp and Disney are in talks, and there is talk that Margot Robbie may be the next protagonist in the franchise. Nothing is certain though, and right now Disney has a ton of money invested in Marvel movies. If the next few Marvel movies don't do well, that MIGHT be a good sign for one more Pirates movie--they'll need a good franchise to save Marvel's sinking ship, so who better than Jack Sparrow? If the next few Marvel movies do well, that might also be good because then Disney would have money on the side for another Pirates movie. It's Hollywood so the direction they go is about as predictable as that damn compass. LOL. Meanwhile, maybe you should consider watching "Black Sails" (2014). It's a good series. I know you've got other commitments with It's Always Sunny, other movies, and of course real life. Just throwing the idea out there for future consideration. Thank you and take care!

I shed a tear when Carina ask Barbosa who she is to him? If I had the compass it will always point to Ivy. ❤️

Nhia Vang

It was a solid film. Also very typical of Hollywood to make sequel and remake films to rack up the money.

i don't care what people may say, i love ALL 5 Pirates of the Carribean movies :) the first three are somehow more connected because we follow a certain storyline which ends at the end of the 3rd movie, that's true... but i still love parts 4 and 5 as well <3

Yes Pirates of Caribbean series is a Disney production not DreamWorks
