Chi, great pick! Can't wait to watch this one and your reaction to it. Al Pacino is a great actor and acted in some great movies. One of my favorites of his is a movie called Scent of a Woman. Great movie and I know you and the ladies will enjoy it, if you choose to watch it.

I can't wait to watch this reaction movie munchies as usual thank you for making my weekend full of joy and keep up the fantastic selection of movies and of course keep up the amazing work

Israel Sosa

This is a great movie. I haven't seen this in years. Shouldn't Yuna be watching this? lol Great reaction as always! I also agree with TippedDuke and recommend Scent of a Woman (1992). Other great Al Pacino movies i really like are Carlito's Way (1993) and Donnie Brasco (1997).

Andy

Where's HELLA?

Awesome! The Munchies are digging more into 70s movies! This era was called “New Hollywood” because directors were making films that were more realistic and gritty than prior decades. Young directors at the time like Martin Scorsese (“Taxi Driver”), Francis Ford Coppola (“Apocalypse Now”), Steven Spielberg (“Sugarland Express”), George Lucas (“American Graffiti”), William Friedkin (“The Exorcist”), and Sidney Lumet (“Serpico”) had more freedom with less studio control. I recommend a comedy with famous comedy duo Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor called “Silver Streak” (1976).

I enjoyed this reaction very much, girls

TippedDuke

I think she only appears if you type her name out as if you are singing it.

Kevin Morales

The book is based off a true story written by the man serpico himself.

Dude this media player just skips and lags all the time at night... probably a problem on Patreon's end but it's really annoying.

Dear Ladies, Thank you very much for your reaction to 'Serpico.' At first I was surprised by your selection of this film. But then I realized the connection to a film which also featured Al Pacino that Yuna did a recent reaction to. Perhaps this isn't a coincidence, but both 'Serpico' and 'Dog Day Afternoon' which Yuna recently watched, are both directed by Sidney Lumet. Lumet was a director who had a reputation for getting top performances from his actors. If you're interested in more of Lumet's films, highly recommended are the Cold War thriller 'Fail Safe' (1964) and his first feature film '12 Angry Men' (1957). Again, thank you for your reaction to older films.

Try lowering the resolution; that’s what works for me. Somehow, the Xbox browser doesn't handle 4K streaming well, but if I switch to 720p (which is perfectly fine for me since I'm just watching a reaction), everything runs without issues.

Jef Etters

They did mention 12 Angry Men is coming. I also appreciate their reacting to older films. I was thinking October is coming up and they usually do “scary” movies. I thought it would be cool if Chi, Yuna and Katie did Cape Fear from the 90’s and then Yuna did the original Cape Fear solo because she likes to do those older ones. Just a thought!

When the player skipped for me, I used to download the streamable link to my phone each time and then stream to the tv. I have since switched to a tablet streaming to the tv and the lagging has stopped. If that helps anyone.

Jef Etters

I enjoy Pacino in Glengarry Glen Ross, which is an amazing film packed with stars they have seen a bit already.

Jef Etters

Fun for Katie - there’s an Always Sunny episode where Charlie dresses up like Serpico, so now she’ll get that reference. 😎

You can still catch her weekly on the Breaking Bad reactions. But yes we miss her!

Gam

Serpico, is based on true events. Serpico claims, when he was shot, his partners, did not radio 'officer down', or call for the ambulance. It was a neighbor, that called for the ambulance.

Hello Munchies. And another movie in my "I heard the name, but know nothing of" movie ! veryu curious to see that. If you say "Serpico" to me, I'll think of a character in a Manga (that Ivy know !) so even more curious. The real word for serpent in Italian is "serpente" (in french, "serpent") or "serpe", Serpico is a deformation of it but can effectively be used for that apparetly. POOR Chi !! PROTECT CHI !!!! 😅 For the movie it's Katie who's right, "in the movie called Serpico". Please...stop this siren !! My ears.... "cops want to shot cops, it's a first time". the movie will be about corruption then. the only time I see cops shooting each other is when they are corruptions (or a civil war) Al Pacino was 33 years old when he did Serpico. And yes, he look very young. Serpico may think too seriously, the other one...Lazy or corrupted my heart can't decide. "send them to hell" why not in jail first ? 😅 "Cut his d*ck out !!" I will not say he don't deserved it, But that's illegal nonetheless. Yeah, Serpico do a great job, but as he a lonewolf doing his way, any lawyer will use his way of doing things to get everyone out easy... that's how it work. Great cop, awfull singer...🤣 Yes, tort*re bu toilet is disgusting...🤢 Note: never say to Chi "i'll be in touch with you" 🤣 she has a point though. Of coure, the mayor/politician aren't gonna do nothing. either way, they don't want to lose control of the cops or they are also corrupt.. They really had nothing better to attack Serpico than making look like a h*mosexual ?? He get very lucky the bullet didn't get inside the skulls ! So ist that how the "internal affair" was created ? to deal against corruption? Based on a book, but yes Serpico really did exist ! I was surprised like you. But yes!! Serpico isreal !! he's still alive !!! he's 90 now. I learned something too ! Very good movie. so real. and the feeling of not fitting in a group because you don' want to act like them is very well done. A really good one. I don't know what to say more. Thanks for the discovery Munchies !! Have a beautifull day !!

Who said we can't learned things in movies and reaction?😅 I didn't know either. And he's still alive too !

Andy

Those are probably recorded way in advanced

Great choice Munchies.

Andy

I read the book when I was in high school before the movie came out. I never new of the corruption in the NY police department at the time.

Andy Smith

There's a lovely quote from Frank Serpico where Al Pacino asked him why he came forward and he replied "Well, Al, I don't know. I guess I would have to say it would be because... if I didn't, who would I be when I listened to a piece of music?" He's still around and has occasionally spoken up about modern police corruption and brutality.

Kris Wustrow

Wow! Thank you for adding in some of these great older films.

John Secret

Chi loves rooting for good cops! This movie is a perfect selection!

I watch with Plex Media Player on a big tv via Nvidia Shield Pro. No issues at all and it handles 4k \m/

Alec

They’ve already watched that episode

Gee...Katie was really tired during this reaction. Did they watch it late at night? Anyway, another good reaction with Chi and Katie. It's fun to see them react to these older movies as things were really different in the U.S.A. back in the 70s and 80s. And yes, Al Pacino was sort of young in this movie (about 33?) and it was only his 5th movie (right between The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part 2 (1974). Their reaction to seeing all the corrupt cops and how they treated Serpico really shows they value truth and honesty a lot. And that's what makes watching their movie and series reactions so good.

I really enjoyed hearing your Vietnamese saying about trying to avoid a watermelon ring and instead stepping on a coconut shell. In English we have a similar saying: out of the frying pan, into the fire.
