This is regarded by many, myself included, as one of the best films of all time. Thanks so much for this surprise reaction 🙏

TippedDuke

Chi and Hella, the OGs. These two ladies are like comfort food for movie reactions.

Manospondylus

It's actually pretty relevant right not with the Lindsey Clancy trial and the legend of a man on the jury that didn't want to declare a woman not guilty when she premeditated the murder of her 3 children. The box wine senior females on the jury were so mad. lol

httruong

Wonderful movie. Immense acting and also an incredible lesson in life.

Trent Early

A new film reaction with Hella!!! Yessss 😎😃🙏

Snick

Oh boy. One of my all time favourites. The actor who had trouble with his son is one of the best performances I have ever seen on a movie screen. I think you girls should react to more such old movies involving proper dialogues - Dial M for Murder , Witness for the Prosecution comes to mind.

lee eames

Hooray Chi and Hella the dynamic duo, with a great movie too.

Jef Etters

My 2 favorite reactors with a great classic movie. 🍿 😎 Today is starting out right!

A real classic this, and with the "orignal" Munchies, what a nice suprise. Very nice to have Hella back in a movie-reaction. The jury system where a group of "ordinary people" wil decide wether the defendant are guilty ore not are quite common in western contries, espescially in countries that are former british colonies like the US. The idea is that when it comes to crime and punisment, it should be up to the defendants "equals" to take the descission, not a small elite of educated judges. The jury are drawn or appointed among ordinary citizens, the only qulifications you need is a clean criminal record. So the twelve men in this movie are people with quite diverse eduction and social bakground. (However the are also all white men, that indicates that maybe women and minorities wasn`t equally eligebal in the 50`s)

Dave P

Amazing reaction and expert analysis by Hella, again.

Alex Anderson

Ah, yes, the original Munchie duo. Let's keep it this way, please.

TylerNorCal

This movie is amazing bc it still exposes ppl's prejudice one way or the other, I feel like it's flipped sides as time has passed.

httruong

To answer your question. I don't know about jurors in vietnam but in a lot of countries they are randomly selected among the people in age to vote and registered as voters. So anyone who can vote could potentially become a juror in a trial. Most of those people didn't choose to be one, they just do their citizens duty.

Andy

Hella cut her hair. Did she get married?

GBprime

Great choice of movies as always and of course it's awesome to see hella and chi together in this movie reaction also continue the fantastic work movies munchies

Dear Ladies, Thank you for your thoughtful reaction to '12 Angry Men.' Juror #8 (Davis) was played by Henry Fonda who was a major movie star from Hollywood's Classic Era. Henry Fonda was the patriarch of a family of actors that includes his daughter Jane Fonda, his son Peter Fonda, and his granddaughter Bridget Fonda. If you're interested in seeing another Henry Fonda movie, I recommend 'The Grapes of Wrath' (1940). If you're interested in seeing another courtroom drama, I recommend 'To Kill A Mockingbird' (1962) which stars another legendary Hollywood actor, Gregory Peck. At least two of the other actors in this movie have been in films you've reacted to: Juror #1 the jury foreman was played by Martin Balsam who also played the private investigator in 'Psycho.' Juror #3 the hotheaded man who was estranged from his son was played by Lee J. Cobb who played the police detective in 'The Exorcist'. Again, many thanks to reacting to classic movies.

Blackwargreymon00

👋 hi Munchies, if you are planning to watch horror movies in October Please consider adding Dawn of the Dead (2004) to your horror watchlist 🙏

Blue

I loved the moment when Chi simply called that big blabbermouth "bitch" 😂 Another great detective movie that I haven't seen suggested before is L.A. Confidential. Great reaction and great to see Hella is back ❤️

Kyle

Women could serve on juries back in the '50s, but they weren't REQUIRED to serve. Only men were required to serve, which is why the juries were usually all-male. I'm not sure about minorities, but in the '50s, whites were a much larger percentage of the US population than they are today. That means if you chose someone at random, they were very likely to be white.

bob

This is the exact opposite of the Lindsay Clancy trial :p

King Bob

Film deliberately chose that composition for its story rather than attempting a statistically representative jury. It was just how it was written.

Proto Type

My Halloween Recommendations: Paranormal Activity (2007) The Grudge (2004) Hellraiser (1987) 🏃‍♀️ 😈👺👻

CrashTestWalrus

I remember how this movie immediately hooked me with its relatable characters. I was like: "Wait, I know these guys" I just love it, it keeps my full attention from beginning to end

chris brown

Yes the 1957 version this will be good. Another good movie with Henry Fonda is The Wrong Man (1956) I'd like to recommenced The Blob (1988) for Halloween

Andy

In this reaction, probably more than any other one, I was really looking forward to the commentary at the end. Chi AND Hella are at their best when it's just the two of them.

John Secret

Wow! A Sidney Lumet September!! Great choices, ladies. Yuna’s Dog Day reaction was great!

2026-09-24 20:00 Yay! They reacted to the original 12 Angry Men (1957) directed by Sidney Lumet! Thank you, thank you, thank you Movie Munchies! And good to see Hella reacting to this movie along with Chi. Looking forward to watching this when I have the time.

And good to see Hella reacting to this movie along with Chi. Looking forward to watching this when I have the time. It's been awhile since I watched this movie and I forgot how intelligent and compelling it is. It's just 12 men in a small room talking, but wow...it's so amazing. And that's why it's one of the all time great classics. It was great to see Chi and Hella get so drawn into the film almost from the very start and watching and hearing their emotional reactions and comments just made seeing this movie again so much better. And they're going to react to Scent of a Woman soon? Another great drama. I like how Movie Munchies is moving between movie genres and picking out such good movies to react to.

The duty for women to serve on jury duty in the 1950's varied from state to state. Some states required service, some states had an "opt in/out", while other states out right banned women from serving on jury duty. For federal cases they followed the state rule until the Civil Rights Act of 1957 which ensured the right for women to serve on federal juries.

if you liked this i'd like to recommend Runaway Jury (2003). It's like half this and some action in it too. for me its my favorite court movie.

DC

I served on a jury for a trial lasting seven weeks. The difference in my experience was nobody got mad or yelled. The similarity was everyone just wanted to get it over with and many people didn't really care so much about the facts, but were voting on emotion.

Milvo

Thank you for reacting to this classic ladies! I think Yuna would also love to react to this one later, maybe with Katie. Great to see Hella here I kinda missed her.

Kris Wustrow

YES!! I was hoping and praying that it would be Hella + Chi for this classic film... and here they are! (no offense to Katie and Ivy -- but Hella/Chi are the "deep thinkers" of the Munchies)

Nhia Vang

What about 12 Angry Women? 😒Never heard of this movie but then again not my kind of movie I would watch.

Gaëtarrow

Hi Munchies !! Happy to see Hella more btw. ☺️ Another movie that I know the name but never saw. hearing the release date it's not that surprising either...You really need to look for it. so eager to discover it! let's go in the juryroom! For the movie The Judge look so bored eplainning the situtation. 😅 12 men stuck in a hot room with barely any air to breath, not sure it's the best condition for deliberating the live or death of someone accused of murder....even more that young... They clearly don't seem serious about it in first place. even Hella say they should be more serious. "When he was 16, we had a fight" WTH is that father?? "i can see some face changing" yes but not enough... to be honest, I would have screamed with Hella seeing the guys playing... the lawyer was court appointed too ?? if you don't know what it mean, the lawyer was not the boy's ., but one given by the law to the boy. and they never gave the best one. as the best one have clients and don't need to be appointed. they're often new one trying to prove themself... the kid is not defended well. They can't stop being a Jury! By law, they are forced to stick untill the end.... Ok I smiled a lot when the "loudmouth" one screamed "how could he (the old man) be positive about anyhting?" 😂 Congratulation, you just shoot in your own feet !! 🤣🤣 "what are you looking at" me: at someone who should never have the responsability of someone's else life (neiter an accused one or a son) .😡 "you're stupid" Good coordination!! 🤣 When Chi and Hella share the same though as everyone! 😂 and I agree with Hella, he just want to go! I admire the patience of those guys who just turned their back execpt of just screaming at the guy with social prejudice in his mind like I would certainly do... But it was the best, he realized by himself he was the problem. "Woman approved" 🤣 "do you thinh i'm an idiot?" Chi "yeah!" 🤣🤣 At this point, I think he just can't admit he's wrong about something. just too pridefull....and his personnal trauma playing in it too... to be honest, seeing him finaaly breaking, it hurt a little. I had pitty on him at the end...he's just a miserable man lost in his life. For the conclusion WOW...a really great one! 2 thing is certain:1) I wish to never be called as jury in my life for murder ever !! (good thing we don't have death sentence anymore either...). I'm curious of the reaction of the judges and the courtroom when they said "not guilty".😅 2)this reaction should be renamed "12 angry men and 2 very angry women/munchies " !!! 🤣🤣 Hella had very good point for the oldman with his prejudice. In the end, I agree with you, so much to tell and definitely worth a viewing!! very interresting one. almost each argument anc character can be spoke about. but let's keep it simple. and I did get lost at some point too in the characters...😅 to answer Chi about "why are they Jury if they don't act like it ?" They are jury by "luck/chance" . In america (and Belgium too), Jury are choosen by "lottery", you are summoned to be one. None choose to be jury. In Belgium, they are Literraly "random citizen" between 28 and 65 with no criminal reccord, being able to vote, can read and written and have all their rights. that's the condition. you get a letter and you must go! They can't say no unless they know the one being prosecuted or have a link to him/her or for very specific reason (health problem, personnal belief in conflict whith the accused one, for example). they can have no qualification at all in law or any knowledge about it . they are here to listen to the lawyer and royal prosecutor to do their speech and presenting evidence, and with that choose if he's guilty or not only by aswering "Yes" or "no" when the judges are asking . then the 3 judges are pronouncing the sentences. (and as you heard, in america, they are barely paid for it to compensate the loss of their working day "3$ a day" well 3$ of that time i mean...). So for them, the quicker it's done, the quicker they go back to home or whatever they do in live. "they shouldn't be jury if they can't be fair" I think they ask in the begining of the court if they have reasons to not be one. but i'm not sure how much it play...I don't know the american system enough. But I think they didn't have much of a choice. But as you saw, as they are called like that randomly...we can have pretty unfair people (racist, prejudice, personnal traumaor just don't care at all) judging a cases... that's the limit of the system. and for me, a very big trouble. choosing random citizen in those case is dangerous in my opinion. but I can't change the world. anyway, very good one ! very interresting setting, argumenting and devellopement !! And a very funny time hearing your reaction too ! 😅 thanks a lot for the discovery! Have a beautifull day, Munchies !!

John

That was sweet what Hella said about wanting to give the angry juror a hug to solve the situation.

Looney

Excited to watch this tonight. Specially with the OG Munchies, Chi and Hella. I havent seen this movie since high school which was about 30 years ago.

fan

Regarding your comment about choosing to be on jury. In the United States you do not get to choose to be on a jury. It’s a law you are compelled to do jury duty. You may be told to go home if the lawyers may not want you on the jury. But you have to show up or you can be arrested. You can even face consequences if you purposefully try and act weird so the lawyers don’t want to pick you.

Mario

I love that the juror at the end who said "not guilty" is really saying that his own son was not guilty 🥹 And that Davis helping him put on his jacket was like a subtle version of giving him the "hug" he clearly needed

Richard Scott

Wow what a great movie! Can’t believe I’d not heard/seen it before. Thanks very much for bringing this to light! I too shall be recommending to anyone who’ll listen.

Thomas Simmons

Good to see Hella reacting to something besides Breaking Bad. I've missed her doing movies.

Steven

Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2 are classics.

Kris Wustrow

Chi & Hella -- this film shows how court cases are decided in nations that use "12-person jury" -- which comes from Great Britain -- so in UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand (South Africa, Malyasia, India, other ex-colonies ended the 12-person jury). Very different system from Vietnam! Vietnam court cases are decided by a 5-person panel, consisting of 2 professional judges and 3 "people's jurors" -- but these "people jurors" are not random like in the West. They are selected by the government and serve for 5 year terms.

Steven

This is one of those films that seem like it was a play, but it was actually written and performed live on TV in its first iteration, then it became a play and then they shot it as a movie, which is the version here, financed by the star, Henry Fonda. It was a great reaction and a lot of fun to watch it with Chi and Hella. What's the plan for Halloween? Are you looking for fun, kinda scary movies, or films that will cause real emotional damage and trauma? Here's some suggestions. Category 1: Not scary but fun. TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL -This stars Alan Tudyk, but you know him as Wash from Firefly. THE LOST BOYS FRIGHT NIGHT 1985 Category 2: Kinda Scary HELLRAISER 1 & 2 CANDYMAN BARBARIAN TALK TO ME THE CONJURING Category 3: Totally fucking scary EVIL DEAD 2013 MIDSOMMER IT FOLLOWS SMILE and SMILE 2 if you plan to do another collaboration with Asian Angels.

Steven

Whatever you decide, thanks in advance for your suffering :)

chris brown

Amazing reaction to a Classic movie.

My Darling Tragedy: A Vampire Novel

I really enjoyed your reaction, especially when Hella laughed when the wad of paper bounces off the fan and hits Juror 9 in the head.

Stephen Paynter

I love these reactors! And I love this movie. It shows the importance of juries - a vital part of democracy. I think it is important that jurors are chosen randomly from the entire adult population, and their role is not given away to judges or professional "jurors". In South Korea I understand that jury verdicts are not binding on the judge(s). I also understand that professional jurors are used in Vietnam (Please correct me if I am wrong, I am relying on google's AI summary, so I could easily be wrong!!) I would be interested to read a comment from anyone who wants to defend these other systems.

Chris Johnson

If you like this film you definitely need to watch "To Kill A Mocking Bird."

David Turgeon

Only a manosphere bro could cite a positive parallel here. Your legend is the last man with an axe to grind.

Bill Bryant

Well this is a good example where a movie can be fairly simple and low budget, but very meaningful. I wasn't impressed with it when I was young, I guess I was too caght up in action movies or something spectacular. But I guess you can say my tastes have changed as I've gotten older....I wish more people would take a moment to watch movies like this.

tommy23

The Man who Shot Liberty Valance is another black and white American classic I'm sure you'd enjoy. Keep on rockin

Rob M

This is such a brilliant movie. I served jury duty both in the civilian world and for a military court martial when I was still in the Air Force. Jury duty isn't easy at all. You have the two sides telling their side of the story, and then the witnesses, and the whole time the attorneys for both sides doing what they can to steer the trial in a certain direction. The movie did a great job demonstrating all the different types of psychological issues that arise when we try to reach an agreement in a group under pressure. Our brains are wired to draw quick conclusions by default due to survival instincts. The way they analyzed the witnesses and how they didn't lie, but the witnesses perceived and recalled the event without realizing their own minds "filled in the blanks" because it is that easy for our minds to make mistakes in a stressful situation. It sounds easy to say, but like we saw in the movie, they really had to debate EVERYTHING in a hot, humid, maybe a bit smelly, room for HOURS while having to place their lives on hold to do their civic duty. The movie really does make one think about how we perceive the world, versus how we choose to perceive the world. We all have our own personal biases, certain prejudices (simple prejudgments based on experience, not necessarily something morally wrong or nefarious), and our own tendency to try and figure things out quickly in a stressful situation. We're all the same, but our personal lives and experiences heavily influence how we approach problems even though we probably all share the same basic moral values. Thank you for watching this movie Chi and Hella!

Scottish Smurf

That man was a legend, Lindsey Clancy admitted it herself that she murdered her 3 children and all the evidence pointed to her that it was premeditated and she deserves to spend the rest of her life in jail. If she had been found not guilty by reason of postpartum then that sets a dangerous precedent in the future for other women to do the same thing with no accountabilty and that is crazy.

2026-09-24 20:00 I disagree that this movie is relevant: If Lindsey Clancy had an all male jury and 11 jurors were ready to vote guilty, would you want the 12th juror to convince the other 11 change their vote to not guilty?

One of the greatest movies ever watched by two of the greatest reactors ever! Hella's reaction at the end brought tears to my eyes; *hugs*, Hella 🫂

Lee

I wait for these old classics from you. Connections to more films of the same follow. Henry Fonda to "Grapes of Wrath" of 1940 and Lee J. Cobb to "On the Waterfront" of 1954 with the young sensation Marlon Brando.

Kris Wustrow

To my knowledge Andy, of all Munchies and Angels, only Chi is married.

RichieBIV

Classic classic. ., . . Not really what was trying to be said at the end there, but uhhhhhh, classic classic.🥤🎞🍿😏

Andy

I know Hella is in a long term relationship, so I was thinking since she was away longer than ever that she may have married and with a new haircut it made sense to me

Another classic film with some legal aspects is "To Kill a Mockingbird" depicting 1930s life in the state of Alabama in the American South. The film was released in 1962 and its lead actor, Gregory Peck, won an Oscar for best actor.

Johnny S.

You are able to touch the Evidence after the Case has been sent to the Jury.

impressed that you all watched this! Considered one of the best movies of all time
