I'm quite curious about the similarities you draw between Hellraiser, a dark and twisted psychosexual fairy tale, and Re-Animator, which is a good movie, but much more of a splatstick comedy. The same can be said for at least two Evil Dead films.

I would say that Hellraiser, Re-Animator, and the Evil Dead films are all cult horror films that have their following. Besides, I think the girls would also enjoy the humor which I think is the main reason I suggested them. Some time back, I recommended 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,' the original one, and someone replied to the comment that they didn't think the girls would enjoy it, which I realized is probably true.

Hello Munchies !! Well first, Happy to see Hella more !! and I guess the "spooky season" is begining...help!!!😂 And yet again (like 95% of all horror movies), it's a movie I know the plot, the idea, the concept and cie, but never actualy saw it! (that's what happen when you're curious about horror's monster but don't like horrors movie enough to look for it or think you'll never managed to see it because they don't come on TV often😅 and also too much "dead by daylight" games in this case !! 😅 thanks the youtubers i'm following i guess....) SO thanks for helping me getting my Horror movie culture on point Munchies ! 🤣 I also know it was a book first and the author was in the production. (and for the joke, No way this movie didn't create a generation of BDSM peoples! 🤣😉) for the movie I agree with Katie, the main guy is really having "dark city" style! but with more BDSM in it ...clearly! the tesseract? well, I can see the idea. but the tesseract will be less dangerous in comparaison I think ! 😂 Well, seeing the place with all the "meat", I hope you're not hungry Munchies !! 😅 ewh.... "What kind of movie is this?" the kind to gave you nightmares! "feel like a church" honestly, You shoukd have see some house of people I know.... it's way worse than that... but at least, they didn't had food with worws growling in it and statue holding their head (or someone else's head). "thank for the compliment thoug" 😂 yes, the guy is creepy talking like that about the womans around him... but at least, he tried to be nice on this one. it backfire but katie's reaction was too funny !! 😅 "with his brother!!" 😂 good synchro !! But what a brother.... I feel less sorry for his death all of the sudden. and I hate the wife now. "what are we watching" honestly, I began to wonder that myself....for now, the movie is between "bad relationship in wedding", porno, BDSM and body horror !! And I though the fly was disgusting.... the "ressurection" is particlary gross.... the more it goes, the less I think it's for me! "I know, I know, I'm doing the same" (Hella about the reviving's scream) 😂 Hella:"use your own blood!" me: yes !! Hella again"get a period!" me: yea...what !! ??🤣🤣Oh boy, I missed hella's lines in other reaction than breaking bad so bad! it's always so surprising !! (BTW, am I imagining thing? am I seeing thing i Shouldn't? or the wife is not having a bra in this scene...?) "for lust" yes clearly for lust in that case....I see no love, no chemistry between them. only lust and manipulation... But why does he look like a gory version of red-skull now ? 😅 "everybody deserve to die" maybe a little too harsh that one. but yeah, a lot of people are horrible in thos one... "I feel uncomfortable" we can see that...and you are not alone. "I like to be carefull" wrong choice of word 😂 "it's like kebad!" 🤣😂thanks for that one Hella! I needed to laugh after seeing those things! Oh poor rats... "who'se idea is this" I'm not sure I want to know now.... I think the nuns was just surprised to see a woman walking with blood on her shirt and looking like she's high...maybe? "what about the flower" something it can represented a "blooming" (a woman discovering her beauty for example. a growing up.) or a more "sensual" thing (no need to explain....I think). but those flowers are also symbol of beauty. I rarely saw them associated with death. It can happen, but more by contrast to it. not sure what the movie wanted with that flower. "hell or heaven" seeing the tittle of the movie, I have a inch... but yeah, why does it look like a catacomb in an old european church. "what is that?" Wth....who imagined that ??! even the things wasn't that messed up visually.... "I don't like their visuals" Pinhead (the main one) is ok for me, but the others...ew...And I though Slaanesh's deamons from warhammer was messed up for making a harp from a human body...I found worse! "back to the kebab" if I wasn't that disgusting to see the scene, i'll be laughing at that line. But honestly, I hide my eyes here... For the conclusion Ok good point, the acting is good (mostly)! Larry's actor going from a good loving father to frank's personna. good acting from him. and yes the makeup and visual effect do thier jobs quite well. we really feel sick seeing some scene. and some ideas of it are good. (mainly the box to open new dimensions). For the bad points (for me): way too gross ! ok the visuals are good! but did it needed to be that disgusting and visuals ??? hella said the body horrors was on point. yes, maybe too much !! And can I say that I don't accept the mentality about pain/pleasure of it? 😅 and so many "f*ck up" thing (adultery with the brother like that and we have to watch it. the wife enjoying the killing ....) The ending maybe a little too cheesy/easy too. kristy and her boyfriend seem to get away quite easily......most of cenobytes didn't really fought. and the last creature didn't seem to be that dangerous when you see her fighting it (if we can call it like that). and wth was the end? the way I understand it, the "guardian of the box" took it back to gave it to someone else who will be trapped like franck. (like katie +-) For the character, I found none of them to be likable. barely kristy , frank and the wife are horrible (to say the least) they deserved their death! Frank is a good guy, but I don't know...I don't succeed to find him very For resume, interresting one, one good concetp (the box). but way too gory and messed up for me . clearly not my style. But , thanks to Hella's funny lines and katie's reaction, i managed to survived and have a good time! thanks a lot munchies!! Have a a wonderfull day and not nightmares !! (i'm not sure I will not....) Bye!

I think this movie has a lot of faults, but that it's also awesome. You almost never see a character like Frank explored. Even when he has awesome sex with his brother's fiance, he says, "It's never enough!" So, he pursues things like "the box" and the intense experiences it contains. This is based on Clive Barker's short novel, The Hellbound Heart, and Barker also wrote and directed the movie. If you're a reader, the book is even better and while the movie has some great lines, the book is just full of cool, ass shit. I'm hoping you'll watch the sequel as it is a continuation of this movie.

I don't know who talked you into watching this movie but they are not your friends. IMO there is a difference between horror and gore, this was definitely gory as hell. Dark and twisted. But you two handled it pretty well, lol. Not sure what that say about you (jk).

Great to see Hella back. Hope she reacts more often. One of the OG Munchies! This film had a small budget and it DID show. It's still one of the better horror films of the 80s. Hellraiser II is definitely worth watching. Some other good supernatural horror films you may want to react to (for Oct) are: Weapons (2025) Talk to Me (2022) Bring Her Back (2025) Ya know, horror films aren't EXCLUSIVELY for Halloween. They can be watched anytime. 👀 And hopefully will be added to your watch list. Even after Halloween.

Hellraiser is exactly as "disgusting" as it needs to be because it serves the story, unlike many other gory movies. 🙂

For that I must clearly agree! The gore is part of the background and not put in it for the " look ! We have gore !" Sorry if I felt spiteful writing my comments. I did it the same time as I was looking and I think my feelings and uncomfortable feelings was transferred way too much than it should have been. My apologies.

I think Hellraiser 2 is fine, but it doesn't hold a candle to the first one. I like how it opens up the Hellraiser world but It's much less coherent and more nonsensical. And i hate what they did to the cenobites in 2. A good lesson in how to make perverted psychosexual pain demons less scary.

I have been shouted at before. 😄 But i will say that i think the munchies can appreciate and like horror movies like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, even if they don't enjoy watching the most horrific bits. Have you watched Nikki Lu on Youtube? She used to hate horror movies, but TTCSM became one of her favourites! And she's so funny. Recommended.
