GREAT NEWS for Firefly/Serenity Lovers: There is an Anime-Series for it in the works with the original Actors as Voice Actors (planned for 2027/28). I dont know if the Munchies like Anime, though.

Thankyou for this. Best Saturday ever! If I remember, Joss Whedon added the deaths of Wash and Shepherd Book because the script felt to "safe" and "written for television". He felt he needed to raise the stakes. Also... They were hoping to restart the show if the movie was successful, but Wash's actor, Alan Tudyk, had a lot of upcoming projects and knew that he would not be available for the show. Sadly, the movie didn't perform well enough to keep the franchise rolling :( RIP Ron Glass (Shepherd Book) 1945-2016. He was 71.

There is a deleted scene where Mal and Inara have the honest talk about their relationship. But it's kind of good how they leave it open-ended in the movie.

Hello munchies !! funny enough, I already a little of "serenity" ! I was zapping on the TV, saw the movie, recognize Kaylee, Irana and Mal from other show I saw ("Castles" for Mal, Stargate for the other 2), I continue to watch it. but I saw less than a hour... but I remember I already like the style. but no chance to find it again... until you !! so let's go! For the movie yes, the transition was hard ! 😅 Damn, this guy is dangerous ! not a good death indeed... but very interresting way to do it. the movie really got a glow up in visual effects! but the ship is still a piece of junk falling apart and ready to blow! 😂😂 I may be wrong, but i think we saw it landed and take out in the very first episode. but not certain. "you can let them die" 😂😂 I love this team! But am I the only one wondering why they don't hide their faces in the robbery? ha the famous reaver. let's see what they can do now! "maybe that's why we lost" is it me or mal is even more cynical than usual? ok maybe because Inara leaved... wait am I becoming "vivious/pervert" or kaylee did just explained that the only pleasusre she had was for a year was by using " made-up toys" ....I'm like Mal no need to know that !! well, Mal knew she was a weapon before... no ? they already had this discusion I think. or as it's a movie apart, they redo it? or it's the first time he actually saw what se can actually do. i'm not sure about all of this... a robot as a wife? ew.... the sad thing ... it's kinda existing now. you should see the add youtube is giving me for" AI girlfiriend"...😟 the sheperd left without us knowing too? "did you see us fight?" 🤣🤣 very good point... too bad for the armour, but it was worth the shot !! 🤣now that i'm thinking of it, he never won his duel except with guns... even dying, the sheperd is stil sasy! 😅🥲 and we lost the conscience of the crew...R.I.P. Damn Mal is determined...but using friend's body...that's one cold way to do...🤯 "sometimes jayne just got on my nerves" yes me too. he's funny when he's the dumb brutes but he's also so egocentric. So the governement tried to calm the population using a new chemicals. it killed most of them because it make them stop everything even "living" and a small group became the reavers...ok . In a way, it make a good sense because I always thought "it's strange that animals like that can fly a ship in space and use tactics, but still eat everything and charging like a bunch of bull in rage". So good to know they had some kind of "intelligence" before. So much for mister universe...but good riddance, he betray them for money. Here, I began to see the movie just after the battle in space and their "crash" or like obiwan would say "another happy landing".😅 But I have no memory of wash's death...😟🥲 But I remenber very well kaylee's "to hell with this, I'm gonna live" (although in french, it became " now, you made me want to live!") but after she said what she said at the bar about her privacy... it make sense !😅 and the ship is still falling in pieces in the end...🤣 for the conclusion and that's it...end of Firefly/serenity already the end of it.... It was such a good discovery. I hate the studio for what happened, I agree with you. it sych a waste. It was way too short! They really deserved way more! Honestly, now that I know the background of each (kinda, we still don't know nothing of the sheperd!!!) it cleatly hurt more. Now for the mesage about "control of the population" , it's well done. not too cartoon just manichean enough. Really it was a wonderfull journey. end of the western-space journey ... thanks ! I extended my good will to this show and the movie pays off. Well, it met me half way more like. Reavers are finally shown on screen, the preacher is killed off, bitch-made pilot is killed off, long dick attitude and decision-making from captain - all great. Pussy boy doc is still alive though, no idea why, but that's lame. I wanted at least a flashback or something where his gets his dick chopped off, so that his character can make sense. His sister is a power fantasy maxxer and his girlfriend is a mechanic begging him for attention, affection and sex. Goddamn, bro, just end the poor bastard's misery

The story of this show is insane because of how much the fans have fought to bring it back. Granted, there were millions of fans that wanted the show back after the cancellation was announced in 2002. When they came back to do the movie, it reignited the fire to bring back the show in some form. Then, the reaction phenomenon happened. A few channels started watching it, but as word spread about how good the show and movie were, tons of channels started reacting to the show and the fan-base simply exploded. Nearly every reaction channel said the same thing after watching the show and then the movie, "NO! I WANT MORE!" The cast, especially Nathon Fillion, dropped some easter eggs and references in other shows they did. Nathon Fillion did a show called, "Castle" that had a really good run. In one episode, Nathon Fillion's character dressed up as a "space cowboy" for Halloween--it was his actual costume from Firefly and it added more fuel to the fire to bring back Firefly. We'll have to see what happens, but things look positive for the show's return as an animated series. So at the end of this journey, would you have guessed that a show with outlaws in space with a "Wild West" theme, a psychic killing machine with the persona of a little girl, a sweetheart engineer that seriously needs some alone time with the doctor, and space "zombies" would make a good show? 😜

Firefly, Serenity, and some of the Avenger movies were written by Joss Whedon, a problematic man but great show writer. His most important work is Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- it was very influential, with multiple books written about it and college course created to analyze it. I recommend giving it a watch when the time allows. It was early in Whedon's carrier so you can see how his skill develops over time. On the other hand, if you want another short TV series to fill this gap, then I recommend Arcane. It's 2 seasons, 18 episodes total and I'd call it a modern masterpiece. It is animated but don't misunderstand -- it's definitely not for kids.

I think Serenity didn't do well in the box office was because the show was a smaller niche audience. The movie itself was well received by those who followed Firefly and was a good film.

Buffy and Angel next for more Joss Whedon. Amazing series
