Oh wow. This is a surprise. I’m very curious how the Munchies will react to this. The ‘found footage’ genre isn’t new anymore, but boy did it take the world by storm when this movie first hit theaters. This will be fun. 😂

GBprime

I've been waiting for this reaction I remember suggesting this movie a month ago and fun fact some people thought the actors went missing Because the actors used their real first names and were kept out of public view after release, many early audiences and festival-goers believed they were genuinely missing or dead. And of course movie munchies thank you for bringing happiness to me and I have another movie suggestion Sleepy hollow (1999)

Looney

Oh great choice. Im torn on this movie but this will be a fun watch. So happy yall are giving us horror movies for October 😊 Dont watch Blair Witch 2. Its horrible 😆

Blackwargreymon00

Please react to REC (2007) another very good Found Footage movie 🙏

austntexan

If you freeze on the guy in the very end, you can see that he's being held to that column with a wire running under his arms. This film freaked me out when it came out.

Alex Anderson

Consider doing the first two of the VHS franchise. It's a found footage movie just like this, anthology series so it's multiple stories in one movie. It started in the early 2010s but has spawned multiple sequels, there's now one every year on Shudder streaming service. New one should be out soon, but the first two are the best IMO.

Daryl 👽

Can't wait to watch this after work!!!

Exterminator4u

Apparently back when this movie premiered this genre didn’t exist, or at least wasn’t widely known, so as advertisement for the movie a lot of rumors were circulated that it was real found footage from missing people in the woods investigating something paranormal. The result made movie history since it made roughly $248 million dollars at the box office with only a budget of $60,000. That’s $1 spent for every $10,931 made. The lie that this was a real legend was so deep that all 3 main actors genuinely believed the Blair Witch was a real legend in the area during filming. Obviously afterwards they realized the writers just made the entire folk tale up lol P.S. Love the makeup!

mundanelotus

I'm looking forward to the makeup and costumes for this month 👻

Manospondylus

I was a teen and can confirm. Lot's of people really thought it was real footage and not a movie. lol

Manospondylus

I was 14 when this hit theaters and remember people believing it was real. lmao

Pinitchio

There were a few low budget Found-Footage films before this one (70's and 80's), but this one launched that genre into the cinematic mainstream. It had a $60K budget and made $248+ million worldwide. This was one of the most successful independent films ever and the studio rushed out a sequel the following year. And of course it was terrible and isn't worth watching. There's a cool video on youtube, where the 3 lead actors gave a panel at the 2025 New Jersey horror Con, talking about their experiences making the film and how it affected their lives. 27 years later! I like this film. Some other supernatural horror films you two may enjoy and perhaps add to your watch list are: Weapons (2025) Talk to Me (2022) Bring Her Back (2025)

Another wonderful treat! When I saw this movie for the first time, it was 4am, I was all alone and I had no idea what to expect. Needless to say, it scared my flippin pants off! Can't wait to see your reactions to it ❤️

Rob M

Seeing this again is fun, but not as fun as seeing it the first time. The psychology of this movie is great because it really pulls the audience into the movie and plays games with our own minds and anxieties. Our minds get immersed in trying to figure out what is going on in an environment we don't know or understand like we are lost in the woods with them. The dialogue of the actors was perfect for the scenario because it was so natural. The second movie is garbage, don't waste your time with that one. The only thing fun about the second movie was trying to find all of the Easter eggs--the DVD had a game where you had to find missing Easter eggs in the movie. Great reaction you two! It's a fun movie and gets people talking about their childhood legends and myths.

Looney

Great reaction. I didn't like it when it first released but nowadays I have more respect for it. When this movie came out there were documentaries on TV acting like it was real found footage. Kinda pissed me off when I found out it was fake and just to hype the movie up. Also in theaters some people had to leave since the camera shaking made people sick and nauseous. Chi has some good ideas. Climb a big ol tree and look. One big consensus is that the Blair Witch was messing with them the whole time and caused them to get lost. You two discussion at the end was really good thoughts on what the Blair Witch was and the house etc. Thank you Chi and Katie. Love the movie or hate the movie, it does a great job at creating fear and tension.

This is the film that sparked the massive found-footage movie boom. It remains a brilliant film: no visible monster, no cheap jump scares, just 100% pure atmosphere. The fact that people believed it was real at the time was due not only to the movie itself but also to its marketing campaign. It was the first film to use the internet for a viral marketing campaign. Months before the release, the creators launched a website pretending that the events were real. There were fake police reports, missing persons notices, pieces of evidence, and stories about the woods. To top it all off, the actors used their real names and went into hiding for a while after filming wrapped, making it appear to anyone doing a little digging as though they had actually vanished. Something like that probably wouldn't work today, but back then, the internet was still relatively new, and people were more inclined to believe things blindly. Something you ladies seem to have missed. The final scene ties in with the story of the mad hermit who killed the children. The man said he would always bring two children into the basement; one had to stand in the corner while he killed the other. In the end, Mike was standing in the corner while Heather was attacked from behind. Of course, the trio was doomed the moment they entered the woods, given that the witch apparently has the power to manipulate time and space. But honestly, I would never go into any forest under the leadership of someone like Heather. Especially not in the US, where there are still vast stretches of wilderness where you can walk in one direction for days and see nothing but trees. I mean, she starts without a proper reference point (off-map), immediately wanders off the trail, and treats the map more like a suggestion than a vital survival tool. I woud just turn right around and wait in the car.😅 If you want to see more of the Blair Witch, the 2016 sequel Blair Witch essentially continues the story. In my opinion, the film is pretty good, even though it doesn't quite measure up to the original. That was a great reaction, as always, ladies, and I really like your Halloween makeup.💜

Proto Type

Damn!!! That was Sooooo scary.... And I've seen it myself. A woman with the map 🤣😂😉

Snick

Why do I feel the girls are gonna watch Paranormal Activity and Rec as well. Rec should definitely be on the cards.

Daryl 👽

That was great and very creepy. Regardless of it being just a movie, being lost deep in the forest is terrifying. 😂🥶 Me and my family often went mushroom picking during October and November seasons. When we went deep into the forest, it just becomes dead silent. You cannot hear anything. I can't even imagine being lost and it being dark.. the silence would drive me mad. 🥶 Side note, the way they filmed this, the director was always near by ..however, they never met during filming. The actors were given notes and the loctions of where exactly to go. All of their dialogue was improvised. They were basically just put into different situations and were supposed to react to it. The actors filmed everything themselves.

RichieBIV

"Tell me where you are, Josh! Tell me where you are!" 😫 Classic. I remember seeing this one in the theater, and being that it was the first of its kind, afterward anytime you looked out at some woods somewhere, you were kinda like... "Ah shhh."😱 🌳🪵🌲🌳🌲🌲 Probably an unpopular opinion, and I'm sure people have already told y'all to stay away from it, but I actually think y'all should watch Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. I think it's worth it. It's definitely a different movie in the same world. It's filmed more like a regular movie instead of the found-footage style, and it plays with your head in a completely different way. It's actually got kind of an Until Dawn vibe to it, if you've ever played the game — So I guess its more like Until Dawn has a little Blair Witch 2 vibe to it . . . Don't go into it expecting the first movie again... just give it a shot and see what you all think. "There is NO goddamn Blair Witch!" 😂🍿🎞️

Genie 🧞‍♂️

Iv never seen this but i bet this movie is stupid af 😂

Alex Anderson

Wow judge a movie without even knowing anything about it...stay ignorant

Alex Anderson

They do already have a reaction to The Omen.

Gaëtarrow

Hello munchies ! Oh no! Who beat you like that 😂? (for the make up and Chi's sunglases like hiding a darkeye😅).....I have so many jokes in the head for that makeup of yours alone...🤣😈 but I'll restrain myself. The blair witch project...or "the movie who boomed the found footage" format! the "OG" of it. (almost, apparently already before but this is the one who made it BIG"). I never actually saw it (Iwas 4 at the release!) but I heard how big it as been. everyone claiming "it's a real story!", "they made a movie out of a real event and footage found by the police" etc.... after I learned it was an horrors movie AND all was just the marketing creating a big "creepy-pasta" on internet to promote it. ANd since I always heard this movie being quote as the "original found-footage"! and often parodied or try copy the success. (so to comfort Katie: in no way it's true or based on real event. just a perfect marketing!) 😉 For the movie! (already I know Chi will be dizzy... it's found footage. the camera will never be stable and shacking all the time! 🤣poor her) For jumpscare, it's a tool. the right tool on the right ambiance and moment and you're in ! the bad moment and the bad way to do it...Personnaly I'm more deranged by the gore and body horror than the rest. Oh the poor baby..."no, no !" 🤣good acting from the child btw. "the balck and white is really creepy" I think it's the idea of it. "back then..." it's 1999 katie, don't worry they had satelite phone already 😅 "we like shortcut don't we?" in horror movie...shortcut=death! 🤣 The girl is really to proud to accept she's wrong... "man why do you let her lead you" I think because it's her the one who began all of this. "those people have no survival instinct" it's an horror movie, of course they do stupid shit! 😅 but I think, they still act like anyone would do at this point. Did the guy just peed right in front of her? and that why he began to laugh? Is Mike crazy now? "Why only one map?", "to have the movie" 🤣🤣good one! "voodoo shit" why do I have "true detective" flashback with those thing. SO she was used to hiking! .one more proof those woods aren't normal. if it's not the first time she do that... it explain her "confidence" in her capacity to read the map and guiding them in the wood. don't excuse her behaviour, but it explain it. but she endend realizing it so..."fault confesed, half forgiven" Well Katie too thought of "true detective". "burn this place!" Inquisitor Chi is there! 🤣 in doubt, burn everything witch-related! 🤣 "What happened to you? " For the conclusion there's a lot of theory about the ending. A witch/ghost who killed everyone. Or my favourite, the 2 guys trapped her in the end (after all, Mike had a huge switch of personality at the end when you think of it). For the movie itself, the acting is on top (it feel really natural, which is not that easy to do in found footage when you think of it. Now i'm not an expert). But the "ignorance of what really happen" is what made the fear so big. no explanation, no clue. "what really happen??" whitch? ghost? cult? betrayal by the 2 other guys wanting revenge for what happened in the woods? are the woods really haunted or cursed? so many question, that we will never have real answer...(they made a second one, but apparently, it didn't work that well. I don't know). For the rest, Chi is right to be cautious. fun doesnt't mean risking our life! 😊 I'm very curious about the tales and rituals of the area of the 7 moutains that katie spoke about. Do you know where I can find intell about it? Anyway, Very interresting one! I understand the enthousiasm for it. Thanks for the discovery Munchies ! Have a beautifull day!

Genie 🧞‍♂️

Lmao I just remember seeing the trailer all the time and everyone at school making fun of each other cause people wanted it to be real so bad 🤣😂 then I saw scary movie and took that as confirmation.

chris brown

This will be good. Hope you react to An American werewolf in London (1981)

chris brown

That was Hella and Tien and Lan

BabymetalRocks

Hi can y'all react to the James Bond movies franchise?

Nhia Vang

you are not wrong this movie is trash

JD

Bone Tomahawk

TylerNorCal

Chi cracks me up man, she's so funny 😂

Wayne

Great reaction and fun make up- thanks both! I think this one is very underrated, the acting is fantastic at times, and they do so much with so little. Chi mentioning her fear of sharks at the end makes me think it might be time for the other Munchies to watch Jaws, if they haven't already. Or Exorcist III — Exorcist 2 is terrible, and you don't need to have seen it to enjoy Part III.

Nhia Vang

There are certain movies you just know is trash with out watching it and this particular movie is one of them. You couldn't pay me to watch this movie.

Opti_Frog

I don't get scared by movies. I can watch anything and sleep well at night. But The Blair Witch Project always gives me the creeps. I think it's a phenomenal piece of horror.

Manospondylus

And the directors other underrated movie... Brawl in Cell Block 99

Daryl 👽

Unrelated but... Spider-Man: Brand New Day? It just released for online streaming yesterday. It's Halloween related. He's wearing a costume 🫣

Alex S

I wouldn't say it is trash, but it definitely disappoints. It was a product of its time, before the internet. A lot of people went into it thinking it was a found footage documentary about some people who got lost in the woods. Spoilers: My biggest issue is that basically nothing happens in the movie. You are on the edge of your seat waiting and waiting and then the movie just ends and it's kind of disappointing.

Alex Anderson

Nhia you like Resident Evil movies...

tommy23

Chi said it about 30 minutes in. The lead actress is so annoying. It's a real turn-off to enjoying the rest of the movie. Anyway, keep on rockin. And take off that damn make-up! Too gruesome, I can't look at your faces...

King Bob

yeaaaahhh........ it is pretty bad..... for some reason it went viral.....it was a brilliant marketing phenomenon, but that doesn't automatically make it a brilliant film. The film cost roughly $60,000 to produce.... and it shows....The dialogue was largely improvised: the actors weren't given conventional lines to memorise and there was no real script. The film is essentially them arguing with each other 90% of the time and making up lines as they went along.....

Scottish Smurf

Was an ok low budget movie when it first came out but there are far better found footage movies to watch that came later. Rec, Rec 2 and Paranormal Activity come to mind with the last one making $194 million on a $15K budget which is crazy.

Dale Laughlin

I wonder if this is one of the first found footage movies

Nhia Vang

100x better then this. At least Resident Evil isn't boring and the pace and story line is solid.

Robert Durant

There are some things they would have done if this was really happening. Like you said one of them could have tried climbing a tall tree to get an idea of the area. They come across several steams and rivers that they could have followed up stream. A river with a constant stream of water has to come from a source large enough to contain enough water to keep the river flowing so they should have found a lake if they had traced the source of the water. I know it’s a film but you wouldn’t think if they got lost in real life they would have been better prepared especially going into a wooded area they’ve never been to and relying on stories from locals.
