Gavin Newsom, born in San Francisco, California, is the 40th Governor of California, serving since 2019. A Democrat, he was Lieutenant Governor (2011–2019) and San Francisco’s youngest mayor in a century (2004–2011), gaining national attention for issuing same-sex marriage licenses in 2004. Diagnosed with dyslexia at age five, Newsom graduated from Santa Clara University in 1989 with a BS in Political Science. 

He founded PlumpJack Group in 1992, growing it into a multimillion-dollar enterprise with wineries, restaurants, and hotels. Newsom survived a 2021 recall election and was reelected in 2022 with 59% of the vote. 

He authored Citizenville (2013), advocating digital governance, and has hosted the podcast This is Gavin Newsom since 2025. Newsom champions progressive policies.

Barely into it on the 2A. I live in a Red state and the Murder rate is a way lower percentage than Ca. I love that you are respectful to Gov. Newsome Shawn. However he is not a 2A person at all. I left Ca, and moved to Idaho. The difference is huge and I feel way safer in Idaho than I ever did in Ca.

And his politics have proven his view. I lived in California and most Californians are more conservative than people think. The ONLY places which are super liberal are larger cities (typical) along the coast. Same like all other West Coast states.

As a conservative that has to be in California for family reasons I can declaratively say that he does not represent the will of the majority of the people. The two large population centers vote for the garbage he lays out that impinge on our rights and dictate how we can live. Ask him why regulations make this the most expensive state to build and run a business in, ask him about the hardened felons who have been released back into society, ask him why this state has the highest costs for oil, natural gas, food, electricity, housing and education? Why is he dumping the snow melt from the Sierras out into the Pacific as opposed to using it to offset drought. Skeet shooting? Good for you! Why do we have to pay 10% extra tax for ammunition? How can you tell when he's lying? His lips are moving

Sad to see so many haven't taken Shawn's words to heart about us being better as communicators and as people. I would love to see the stats that he spews about gun's. CCW increases the chance of gun death? BTW At 7:31 did he say he also carried a weapon everywhere?? As a women in Cali the gun controls are self defeating if you don't have CCW. I travel alone while my weapon is locked and in the back of my vehicle and the ammunition is stored away from my weapon. What on earth is going on here. I am in at 8:47, Newsom says he doesn't want convicted felons to have guns BUT former DAs, George Gascon and Chesa Boudin, wouldn't charge gun enhancements when violent criminals committed crimes with firearms. Also, since when do criminals purchase weapons legally? It is patently obvious that Shawn did NOT prep for this interview which allows Newsom to come off sounding like an America First populist. He and the state legislature are fighting the implementation of the new rewrite of Prop 36 that we CA voters voted in last November. This man is a Pro-Criminal democrat. I can't believe this guy received NO pushback. Also, why hasn't anyone on the SRS team looked into the gun deaths like Jack Posobiec has? For the first time, I think SRS has done its viewers and American voters a hugh disservice with this interview.

I’m 20 minutes into this one and it is going to be hard to listen too. Gavin Newsom is a fucking piece of shit. When he said California’s population was growing, to hear him say that was enough for me. Why and how - simple answer that is what was behind the Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, and the rest of Democrats open border agenda. For California millions were leaving California and the only way to replace Democratic voters was to let them flow across an open border. Give them healthcare, a drivers license, fight to let them vote, let them rot in downtown LA while flying a Mexican flag on our soil. I’m listening. I’ll give Shawn the courtesy of honoring the spirit of this interview—to hear our people on another side of issues. I don’t like his use of GD. But also things like changing “concealed carry reduces violent crime” Denise immediately talking about gun violence or gun deaths. But even scarier really was him talking about his dad as a potential caregiver. That is how politicians like him see parents. Caregivers which can be moved around by the state at will.

OK. I made it through. As I expected Newscum played verbally like a champ around every single topic and typically for a politician of his level had prepared talk-arounds for every question. I’m 100% sure this interview will be put to the court by listeners and taken apart every little question. All his answers we will receive the true facts about Shawn’s questions and counter his easy talking statements. I can’t wait for that. There is one thing that I agree with Newscum: those illegal immigrants who have integrated well into the US society and work valuable jobs, they should get some sort of accelerated path to receive their green cards.

I really wish I saw more comments about the things we might agree with Governor Newsom about and less vile rhetoric and name calling. I don't like President Trump. Not one bit. But he loves his family, and I love my family. He's done some great things for border security. Even Governor Newsom agreed that Trump has done some incredible things. He's also done a lot and said a lot that I disagree with and might have stronger words to say about. But at the end of the day the most important thing is that we have got to change how we talk about each other in this country. I was really hoping I'd see more of that in these comments.

Newsome mentioned the percentage increase in homeless in California raised less than other states....does anyone else think that's because other states homelessness was so low that any new homeless made a larger impact than another homeless person in California? I have to honestly say I don’t agree with a lot of his views and policies but after listening to this I do respect the man and have a better understanding on how and why he does what he does. I also think this is absolutely a huge step in the right direction for everyone in this country to be able to sit down and fucking hear other out instead of always one side vs the other. I’m so over the red vs blue nonsense. Let’s talk and get what needs to be done done and stop blaming everyone. Time for fucking action and no more talk. God bless
